In this article the Rockets GM calls White the worst 1st round pick ever.  Ouch.

I for one thought he would be a solid and productive player in the association, but clearly and severely underestimated the non- basketball issues.

He never played for them and caused them to have a huge headache from him after writing him pay check after pay check. I know White had some serious problems, but they both handled the situation very poorly. White shouldn’t have entered the NBA draft and the Rockets shouldn’t have drafted him. White has some problems, but he has a horrible attitude as well. It was either his way or the highway and that’s just not how it works.

Obviously Daryl Morey never watched Bargnani.

Keyon Dooling has apperently been named as a new "NBA life coach" the frist thing I thought of when I heard this was regarding Royce White. Not sure if that’s even what he’s gonan do at this new job, but it’d be cool to see someone help poor Royce.

i think morey is just butt-hurt a little that it didn’t work out.  i think the point of the article is that he is willing to take risks in the draft because there have been much worse picks like fran vasquez, robert swift, mohamed sene, rafael araujo, etc….and it’s not like royce’s career is over yet.  he’s still young and may find a home.

the 2010-2012 rockets drafts were mind boggling to me.  drafting patrick patterson, marcus morris, montiejunas (through trade), terrence jones and royce white with 4 of their 5 first round picks made zero sense considering they all were undersized or stretch pfs.  i think the rockets got bailed out on the harden trade and the drafting, trading and re-trading of chandler parsons. if the t-wolves didn’t trade chandler back, the rockets may be without parsons and howard (who was influenced by parsons by many reports).

morey doesn’t have much room to talk.

Uhh… all of those "mind boggling" draft choices were the assets that were used to ultimately bring in Howard and Harden… making us title contendors.

I’m not sure if this is legit, but I read or watched something before about Keyon Dooling that he was molested bu an uncle or foster father when he was young. He had a extremely tough up brining. If something like that happened to me I’ll never have my head on straight ever.

Yea he endured child molestation by a neightbor I think it was, and he went through a mental breakdown during his last season with the celtics, but everyone in the locker room said he was a great guy and he has a great demeanor and approach to life that lends him to being someone that genuinly cares and people respond to. I’m not sure what his life coach job entails, but this seems like a perfect fit for it. This isn’t like somehitng I’m making up. He’s actually been hired to "help troubled nba and d-league players" Who’s more troubled than Royce?

Of course Morey has the right to be mad. I don’t know the situation first hand, but it seems the Rockets did a lot to help this kid and they even made some concessions that no other player would receive. White complained publicly about everything… so unprofessional.
