Melo met with the Bulls on Tuesday, and Derrick Rose worked out in front of Carmelo.  It appears Rose is in favor of signing Carmelo, and wanted to prove to him that he is healthy.

Kinda funny that he did this after saying that he wouldn’t go out of his way to meet with Melo…

Still a good move on his part IMO

I bet Rose looks unbelievable in a workout setting right now. His quads, hamstrings, glutes, calfs and core strength are prob out of this world.

I think it gave Melo a vote of confidence to see him healthy, but he’s not dumb… One workout doesn’t tell anybody if Rose’s body can hold up for 82 games a season. Melo will be taking a leap of faith lol.

Melo to the bulls is start to make sence now, if Rose can somehow stay healthy and pull through, the bulls are a championship caliber team. As far him not wanting to meet with Melo, I don’t think Rose said that he’s seems to humble

I said go out of his way to meet with Melo, in other words put any real effort into recruiting him.

Rose said that recruiting Melo was “not his job” and “my thing is if they want to come. They can come.”

But actions speak louder than words and if Rose did a workout in front of Melo to address criticisms about his durability then he is in fact playing a role in the recruitment.

Rose did a work out for Melo?  Who is Melo, a scout?

This NBA free agency stuff is getting ridiculous now.

But why wouldn’t Melo want to see if a player that’s been injured the past 2 seasons is now healthy enough to play?  I mean this is Melo last time as a FA when he’s in his prime and he hasn’t won anything yet…  So, seeing D. Rose healthy will help put away some of those worries and maybe push him to signing with them…  Especially when they would need a healthy Rose to take down the Heat…

I think it more or less was Rose going through his normal routine at the United Center, which is to work out like a madman in order to get ready for either USA Basketball or the season opener.  It was probably no coincidence that Carmelo was there and probably had some sort of interaction with Melo after getting his work in.  The way the Bulls view Rose is that he is no longer injured.  That’s it.  I think that it’s realistic to question whether or not Rose can stay on the court for a whole season, but by all accounts he shouldn’t have any lingering issues from his past injuries.  It’s funny, I remember back in 2010 Bulls fans and NBA fans were saying a lot of similar things about Luol Deng.  Now, Deng is not anywhere near the caliber player as Derrick Rose.  But, the Bulls took the defending NBA Champion Boston Celtics to 7 games in the first round of the Eastern Conference playoffs with multiple overtime games.  The Celtics were missing Garnett, who never regained his Top 10 form (but still was a damn good player for a few more years).  The Bulls were missing Luol Deng, who had a few different long term injuries.  Nobody thought the players were comparable in terms of what their absence meant to their respective teams and Bulls fans couldn’t believe the Chicago Bulls organization counted on Luol to stay healthy and develop into an all-star.  Well, Deng ended up leading the NBA in minutes played from that point on (in the Top 3 I believe) and making 2 All-Star games and Garnett declined significantly and is on the verge or retiring.  Injuries happen to a lot of people.  Sometimes they are spread out and sometimes they are grouped together.  Sometimes, they are career ending/threatening like a Yao or Shaun Livingston.  Sometimes, like Russell Westbrook they take time from their playing career but the player doesn’t seem to have missed an ounce of their elite athletic ability.  Rose had 2 injuries in a very short time.  He tore his ACL (after posting a triple-double in his lone playoff game 3 years ago) and missed the entire following season.  But, athletically, he came back with increased numbers in his baseline to baseline time and max vertical.  Last sesason, Rose tore the meniscus in his other knee in Portland (during a game where he was significantly outplaying one of the best PG’s in the NBA last year in Damian Lillard) and surgery repaired the tear 100%.  It’s an injury that COULD impact athleticism if the meniscus cannot be repaired or the player chooses to remove it.  If it’s removed, like Metta World Peace did 2 years ago, the player can return to action in just days opposed to months.  But that, or if the mensicus tear cannot be repaired fully, severely limits the athletic ability of a player.  Rose should and proabably WILL be back to the player that he was during his MVP season.  But I know that I, as well as almost EVERY Bulls fan, will be holding my breath for the entire 2014-2015 season (enjoying every second that I get to watch him play) waiting for another injury to happen.  A couple seasons of Top 10 play without any significant time missed (and if Melo is by his side, some very meaningful basketball) will probably be the first time that I let my guard down with Rose’s injury history.

I think this important, in the sense that Rose was there and he is the face of that franchise if he had skipped out on it because he "doesn’t recruit" that would have looked bad.

As far as Melo having faith in his health, I don’t see this as important, because if he is worried about personnel, the Bulls without Rose have a better team than the Knicks…
