Early on Blake has the NBA buzzing…He had a great 1st game and looks to be a strong candidate for the Award in June…Now This thread is for us to keep track of the Top 10 Rookie of the Year candidates…some of us are prevvy to players we’ll hear more about than See in person…I studied Turner’s play in his first game and came away very impressed…If he would started he’d have put up 20 on the Heat in his first NBA game…That’s very impressive for a guy many wrote off before the season started…Wall was shakey in his debut and gained more confidence the more the game went along…he had a few bad plays…a few good plays…and a few plays that make you say Wow…Blake was simply amazing in that 1st game against a solid frontline…He made wow plays all night…The Thing with Blake is tempo…can he keep up that Tempo all 82 he’s walking away with the Award…

Now I didn’t get a chance to see other ROY candidates other than highlights…But The Top 3 so far is

    1. Blake Griffin…

    2. Evan Turner…

    3. John Wall…

I’m looking for big years from Cousins, Monroe, Henry and Favors…I need 3 more sliod ROY caliber players to keep track of…

I find it pointless making a ROY thread after only the first game of the season.

Evan Turner is not top 3.

Griffin, Cousins, Wall. I also throw Wes Johnson in the mix because I like him and he’s should be starting for Minny in 2-3 weeks.

I’m just trying to keep a steady track on what the class of 2010( although Griffen was drafted last year )

And I asked for a few more canidates…Like Hayward , Aminu, Crawford…I’m asking who else has some big games in store and who’ll be making their cases for Rookie Teams and so on…

Early on Turner and Griffin look like they belong…Same goes for Cousins and Wall at time…Who’s that 5 guy that can get into the All Rookie Team…Caus That 4 is almost a lock because of skill/opportunity/hype( all good in this case though)….

    Pg-Wall

    Sg-Turner

    Sf-Wes???

    Pf-Blake

    C-Cousins…

    That’s a nasty Rookie Team….Soph’s beware…

Turner would have out up 20 on the Heat in a competive game ( 4th quarter ) he guarded Wade and Bron and didn’t back down…he played very contained and let the game come to him…He finished with 16 points,7 rebs, and 4 assists off the bench…he is going to be a starter very soon, Kapono at the SF is not going to last…He showed he can be an offensive weapon one day soon…He’s as solid as any rookie and has the reigns in Philly if he brings it…Collins said it himself,,,If he’s on he’s on…Starting Him off the bench is just a case of getting his feet wet the 1st 10 to 20 games and letting him take off…Would of had 20 points, 8 rebs and 5 plus assists if he had started in the Heat game…He’s Top 3 as we speak…

I remember when people said Favors would be at bust and the then is right now at 18 and still possibly growing physically, he is playing solid bk up minutes.  Once he gets a little more seasoning to his game watch out.  Cousins looks to be putting up solid stats but needs to stay out of foul trouble.  Wes and Turner are on the wrong teams.  They could be putting up better number with more minutes and being in a better system.  Wall should barely edge Griffin out because Wall is going to get minutes and he has the green light to take the shots he wants and he manages the game for the Wiz.  Griffin is solid but Clippers have a lot players that want the ball and he is not a point guard so he has to depend on passing team mates to get him the ball in scoring positions for the most part even though I know he can do isolation as well.

Scarecrow this is a good idea to me, but you need to get Aran to sticky it so it stays on the first page or its probably going to be lost on page 3 by Sunday

He’s now in the top 10 maybe 15 if you want to hold it against him…I feel he’ll have a few dud’s due to being on the bench…He,Jrue and Lou cannot co-exist and I’m calling It first…The Sixers will trade Lou for a Sot Blocking Center…If a 6th man or potential Starting Pg like Lou and a Draft Pick can’t get a defensive Center, Nothing can…

But he and Turner on the Bench doesn’t work in my eyes, Lou is Ball dominate and Turner needs that Ball…Turner should start over Kapono but the Sixers and Doug Collins want to ease him in…The starters need a scorer and right now Turner is hit or Miss…I understand the Logic of letting him learn and play 20 minutes a night, but you gotta start playing guys like Turner, Holiday, Speights and Young heavy minutes…Iggy cannot be the 1st or 2nd option…he needs to be a 3rd or 4th option slasher and defender…

Bring "IT" every night…He teasesd us too many times with 20/20 games or near 20/20 games…And I think The Sixers need a Younger Guy to grow with the Holiday,Turner, Thad ( Though he may be traded too if It’s a big enough Defensive C…Greg Oden ??? ) Thad and Lou would be a nice Trade Offer for a Young Defensive Center…2 Young guys with tons of potential…I want Greg Oden and have for a while…with his Contract situation and the Blazers need for a back up PG/future Pg and depth at the Sf/Pf spot…Batum and Young would be a very nice combo at SF for Roy and Miller to run with…Lou needs a Vet’s tutoring…The Blazers only risk Oden and can include Rudy in the deal…

Thad Young, Lou Will and Craig Brackins for Greg Oden and Rudy Fernandez and Blazers 1st rounder( remember they have NO’s in the lottery potentially)….Although Oden is a Risk and Rudy would wnat to shoot, they’d both be needed in Philly…

It is a 2 man race. Cousins will be too inconsistent all year with foul trouble. Turner needs time to adjust, he will have a lot of bad nights.

Griffin is ridiculous and Wall will have the ball in his hands all the time.

Landry Fields. Thats right, the 2nd round pick that everyone on this forum said "Who"? and " The Knicks are so stupid for taking him." Now listen Im not stupid enough to think that he will win it, but the guy should be in the discussion, he’s a natural, plain and simple. Had 11/10/4 tonight against the Celts. Just plays the game the right way, doesnt force anything.

How’d wall get 9 assists, the team shot like 35%. Pretty damn impressive if you ask me.

Wall’s shooting was horrendous but his half court game is extremely underrated. In the half court he plays in complete control and constanty finds the open man. Hell he would have had at least 15 assists against Orlando if any of his teammates other than Cartier Martin were playing half decent. I’m just confused with Blatche. He is a pretty decent mid range shooter. Wall would constantly pass it back to him for an open foul line shot and instead of putting it up, he’d hesitate and either take a contested shot or try to put it on the floor and lose it. If guys just do their jobs the Wizards won’t be that bad, but all I see are guys like Javale trying to handle it on the perimeter, Blatche trying to create for himself even when he doesn’t have to, Thornton forcing perimter shots, and even Hinrich was forcing drives. I just think they all need to play their roles and Wall will get it to them.
