Alex Kline of the Recruit Scoop said via twitter that Clarke has decided to transfer to Butler from Arkansas.

    Here is the actual tweet

"Arkansas transfer Rontei Clarke, a guard with one year of eligibility remaining, is headed to Butler, according to @GoodmanCBS"

He is a terrific shooter and should be a star for Butler when he’s eligible

Huge get! Could be a 18-20 ppg scorer in the Horizon for Coach Stevens. He’ll have alot of plays run for him. Is there an actual time he’ll be eligible? Spring semester maybe?

I’d imagine he’d be sitting out this whole year then be eligible in 2012-13.

Really significant because Butler has a young team this year with Chrishawn Hopkins and Khyle Marshall that could really be maturing into a strong group by the time he’s eligible. They’ll also be adding 6’5 shooter Kellen Dunham that same year, a top 100 player in the 2012 class.

That could be a great team.

This guy can stroke it. Watch him play alot in the sec in the backcourt with Courtney Fortson. Clarke can put points on the board in a hurry. He should have come to the big east man. Anyway Butler just got a heck of a player.

Jackson Aldridge, the point guard from Australia, will probably end up running the team for the Bulldogs this year. Chrishawn Hopkins is more of a scorer-athlete-sparkplug than a floor general. Aldridge is a very cerebral and unselfish player with a smooth style and a floor general mentality. Ron Nored may end up coming off the bench.

Andrew Smith will probably lead the team in scoring. He has a full arsenal of post moves to go with shear size, whereas Khyle Marshall is more of an offensive rebounding, garbage man type of player.

Andrew Smith is terrible when he has to face quality bigs. Just thought I’d add that. Just watch the Pitt, Florida, and UConn games. Matt Howard used to struggle badly too, but then he developed a jumper that made him a little better, and even before he got the jumper he still led the team in scoring because the Horizon League had no size to really challenge him alot.

Oh, Nored will definitely start, but Aldridge and Hopkins are budding stars. By the end of the year, Nored may end up coming off the bench, but he’ll still play solid minutes. He actually didn’t start a few of the NCAA tournament games last year. Chase Stigall will see some time too.
