Well it depletes the Pelicans and raises the chances that Cousins leaves if you ask me.. Also Lonzo might be on the move

Yeah kind of bizarre move considering they have Lebron and Lonzo and added Lance. You would figure they would be adding more Shooters. But Rondo & Lance brings toughness & experience something they lacked last season.

Maybe Lebron is serious about wanting to play off the ball too.. Brings another hothead. Him Lance and maybe Boogie on the same court lmao… Vs Draymond haha

You’ve gotta think there are plans in the works to move Lonzo.

From what I’ve heard the Spurs have no interest in taking him as part of a Kawhi trade though.

Could it be that some of these guys the Lakers have signed to one-year deals are trade bait? Maybe SA told LA they have to take Pau Gasol back in any Kawhi trade, and these one-year guys are being signed to make that possible?

How long do you have to wait to trade a player after signing him?

Well, Lebron has banged on about not having a real point guard in the past. Cant do that now. I think Lonzo will stay but you never know.

The Pelicans really need wings, i dont know why you’d sign Payton to replace Rondo. Surely you’d look for a 3 man and slide Jrue over to PG. The Pelicans can still challenge in the West if they re-sign Boogie. I wouldnt be so sure the Rockets, Lakers or Warriors could do much about a fully functioning combo of Boogie and AD.

Whether they keep Ball or trade him signing Rondo is a wise move. No better PG in the league to learn from at $9 million a year. Bring him in as a backup, maybe put Ball at SG for stretches or use him as trade bait. Im sure teams would be interested in Ball even if the Kawhi attempts fail.

I bet they sign Wayne Ellington next.

Rondo is friends with Cousins and this might help him sign with the Lakers.

Do the Lakers still have Boogie money, after all these signings? Does anyone know?

They currently have 5.7 million and if they stretch Deng or trade him they open up somewhere around 17 million

I like Rondo brings a good veteran backup that can mentor Lonzo Ball since they have similar skill sets.  Rondo gives you toughness on defense and championship experience, but they overpaid him by about $6mil.  He is more worth $3mil at this point in his career.  Also feel they overpaid for Lance Stephenson by about $2mil he should have been signed for the minimum.  That $8mil would come in handy since Lakers still need to add a starting calibur C and a backup SF if Kawhi trade isn’t coming. Hopefully Demarcus Cousins or Brook Lopez will be signing on the cheap to fill that C spot.  I was really hoping the Lakers went after Clint Capela hard to pair with Lebron.

I personally wouldn’t sacrifice Brandon Ingram (if giving up multiple picks and other pieces) or Lonzo Ball in a Kawhi deal those are my only two untradeable pieces on the Lakers, for Kawhi I would trade Ingram, but I am not giving up too much with him.  If I’m Lakers I’m trying to do a sign and trade Julius Randle, Kyle Kuzma, Josh Hart, and 1st rounder(s) to get Kawhi.

Spurs would be stupid to accept any deal that doesn’t involve Ingram. They’d get comparable deals from contenders at the trade deadline. Plus, Randle has signed elsewhere.

Rondo is *clearly* a better player than Ball right now — it would be crazy to make him Lonzo’s backup if you’re trying to win a championship. I can’t imagine Rondo wants to be Ball’s backup and I can’t imagine LeBron would stand for that either … unless Ball comes to camp as a vastly improved player.

Interesting that the Lakers renounce Randle and sign Rondo for effectively what they could have played Randle for a year. There are certainly a lot of ball carriers at the Lakers now. I just wonder what LBJ thinks of all the Big Baller circus if Father Ball starts shooting his mouth off, I could see Jnr being packaged especially now they have Rondo.

NOP will miss Rondo as he enabled Holliday to play off ball last season and have a good year.

The Lakers would not have room for DMC and I doubt he’d take a one year deal with Lakers etc.

Why are the lakers  bring in so many players with questionable attitudes?

This is comedy lol. The Lakers have LeBron surrounded by players who need the ball and can’t shoot lol.

This has to be the wierdest day of free-agency ever.
