prophetmeirParticipantWhere is the love for Rondo, hes keeping a low level team competitive. While having no shooters still setting up his team with easy baskets he had a triple double last night and I see him getting at least 9 for the year. With all the pgs getting big money I wonder what the market is going to be like for him. 65-70 mill? 4-5 years?

tuck243Participantmaking threads for or against players… There hasn’t been enough games played to make certain assumptions about certain players… Although Rondo has been that type of player for a number of years… I think he’ll get maxed out no matter where he goes if he can keep up this level of play… So, 65-70 mil is too low…

nbafan519Participantever since his injury people have seemed to forget about him, but in my opinion he is one of if not the best point guard in the league. Look at the numbers he’s been putting up this year even with the weak roster they have. People kept saying his greatness was a result of playing with the big three but he’s proving that wrong and he will continue to do so.
the man always brings his game to another level during the playoffs (unlike some other top point guards) and he was undoudtedbly the best player on that c’s team when they were still competing for a spot in the finals from 09-12.
I bet he gets paid, I heard today that the lakers are planning to make a strong push for him this summer, even though that’s a while away still. I don’t think he’d go there anyway.

omphalosParticipantRondo has looked pretty good, he has got sticky hands though, needs to make quicker decisions with the ball. He’s also lost a step ssine injury that he’s yet to regain.
Once he gets his legs back we should see him get even better and raise his scoring numbers.
As far as the Celtics are concerned it’s ridiculously frustrating watching James Young rot on the bench when he showed great catch and shoot instincts in the pre-season.
Seeing Marcus Thornton and Evan Turner suck up wing minutes over Young is legitimately depressing.
Smart and Young shouls be getting the bulk of the minutes off the bench so they can develop their chemistry and confidence in the second unit.

HitsterParticipantRondo has had a couple of injury hit years but has returned quicker than expected from his hand injury and is looking in good form early season.
When the Celtics won their first game, they looked like being a very fun offence team to watch with a double PG line up and legit 3 point range across the whole starting 5. I was tempted to post that they could be this year’s Phoenix who could make a surprise bid for the play offs based on a lot of good shooting.
They have slipped back a bit since so we still need to know do Danny Ainge and Brad Stevens see Rondo as a key part of the Celtics or will they look for the best value via a trade.
When we consider that Klay Thompson got $70 million over 4 years and other rookies are getting $15/16 million a year offers then a fit on form Rondo must be worth near or a full max deal. This is where the new contract rules play both ways, a team will not give up a load of assets to get Rondo for a half season plus rental but if he indicates he’d likely resign with Team A then Team A will offer the Celtics a good package as they are getting an All Star level PG. Team A then have Rondo’s bird rights so can offer him the best deal so everyone is a winner.

Meditated StatesParticipantHe is almost averaging a triple double coming off a knee injury. He makes others better. No he is not a 20 points every night guy, not his game, but no one plays a better all around court game. How is a 6ft guard grabbing 9 boards a night? Thats exceptional and he should get paid. Boston does not get good free agents and the draft is a major crap shoot so pay the all star.
