Charlie SheenParticipantI got a couple guys I think New York could get this off-season as I’m really liking what they got going on right now.
If this off-season they can decline Chauncey Billups and hope Turiaf declines his option to allow the team more cap flexibility thats essentially 16mil coming off the books and only Anthony-Stoudemire-Fields-Douglas-Rautins and Balkman at thats $41,136,089M so estimate 42mil now an estimated cap would be 59mil so they have 17mil to work with plus they’d still have the MLE say 5.76mil because re-signing Billups and Turaif would put them over the cap(did my research), similar to how Miami still had the MLE after signing Bosh and James 1st then re-signing Wade and Haslem followed by Mike Miller
ANYWAY
In the draft I would take Justin Harper, he could replace what Chandler was to New York and could relieve Shawne Williams of taking up much needed cap room.
In Free Agency I’d offer Marc Gasol a 5yr deal 9mil start, Daequan Cook 3yrs/9mil, Chauncey Billups 5yrs/15mil and Ronnie Turiaf 3yrs/10mil
The MLE would then go to Reggie Williams and Joel Pryzbilia
I would also throw the league minimum at Kelenna Azubuike as if he ever gets healthy would be a great asset to the team and the league minimum at Anthony Carter
Depth Chart
Gasol/Turiaf/Pryzbilia
Stoudemire/Harper
Anthony/Williams
Fields/Cook/Rautins
Billups/Douglas/Carter

kobyzParticipantit’s an unrealistic scenario!!
teams can not use the MLE if they start the summer under the cap!

theEDGEParticipantBillups for 5 years, dude you might really be Charlie because that’s talking like you’re high on something.
Billups should be happy if he gets a 2-year deal with option for 3rd.
Gasol at 9 million would be great, but DeAndre Jordan could be a nice consolation price since the Knicks don’t need a big scorer at the position, plus Jerome Jordan could come over.
Cook isn’t worth 3 mil a year, and Turiaf would be a nice 4/5 reserve at around 3 a year.
Williams and Przybilla will more likely than not set you back for more than the 5.76 million you got as MLE.
Carter should just retire, there are younger guys wanting a shot at being a Knick.
Shawne Williams is to my knowledge on a minimum deal.

Charlie SheenParticipantBillups at 3yrs my bad and Cook isnt worth 3 BUT they need a knock down shooter off the bench who has size to defend 2’s since Douglas plays a lot of 2 it hurts NYC defensively.

mj23mj23besteverParticipantimo the knicks have too get a def stopper at the c position to help make up for all the bad d and we all know wiht the lack of legit bigs teams will over pay for c maybe they could sam d too sign for less too have a shot at winning the heat will also be after a def minded c so let the bidding wars begin o whenever theres actually basketball the cb could get real ugly

NJHooper95ParticipantKnick made a bad move by not signing Earl Barron a two months ago and also another bad move by letting Corey Brewer go. Barron would have given them a servicable center and Brewer would a given them an athletic defensive wing on a team that plays no defensive, bad move.

theEDGEParticipantI agree with NJHooper on this.
At the end of last season Barron was a double-double machine for the Knicks and Brewer is still underrated as a defender.

sheltwon3ParticipantKnicks are bringing over Jerome James who could turn out to be just as good or close enough to DJ Jordan. Also they could draft Jeremy Tyler in the draft. Tyler is 6’10" or 6’11" and was seen as a top 5 pick until he went overseas and stuff did not go as well as people thought. Just like Jenning though, stats will not tell everything. Tyler will be a steal to whatever team takes him. Also with the 2 moves I mentioned, Knicks should not look to drop money on anybody and they should look to trade Turiaf. They should Keep Billups though and if possibly restructure his deal. Getting Cook for 2 to 3 million is not a bad move especially because he can shoot the rock pretty well from 3.
