He’s a 2nd PG at best, and I’m not sure he helps the Grizz really, besides the fact that he would give them an extra body..He’s not better than Conley at anything except making flashy passes.

he’s good in an up tempo situation and with athletic guys like gay and mayo he could run a good fast break. pretty good back up.

the kings aren”t using him anyways and i do think he could help someone off th becnch, but he’s defenitely no starter.

i think he could be a decent starter only Lebron, Durant, Howard, Roy, Kobe and Dirk have a higher plus minus than him and hes fifteenth for point guards in per in the league. its also rumored he could be going to New Jersey or New York.

This guy would flourish if given a starting gig. Memphis would put him on the map. In only 14 mins he is averaging 6 pts 1 reb 3 ast. If you project that over 36 mins he could average 16 pts 4 rebs 9 ast. You are telling me he couldn’t be a starter? I think he could steal the starting spot from Conley without a doubt. It wasn’t to long ago that Memphis was questioning if Conley was even their PG of the future.

Conley at this point is averaging 10 pts 2 reb 5 ast in 30 mins! Rodriguez is almost at his numbers at 14 mins! Conley if given the same 36 mins projects 12 pts 3 reb 6 ast.

IMO if Memphis makes that move happen they are getting a steal and a very important final piece a PG that could run that team and make everyone around him that much better.

I doubt he can take the spot from Conley but he is an interesting player with some promise and maybe could start for some teams but I see him more of a bk up right now and change of pace point guard.

i watch him play, and he is not bad. But he is not a starter in the NBA. He can’t even beat out Beno Udrih for minutes off the bench. There are lot’s of guys that could put up decent numbers if you give them 30+ minutes. But there is a reason they are not getting those minutes. I’m pretty sure that portalnd and sacramento would both give up a starting nba caliber pg for nothing. Part of being a starting pg is how you control the game, and rodriguez tends to play out of control.

I think the perfect place for Sergio Rodriguez would be the NY Knicks. He’s better than Chris Duhon and he fits in perfectly with the style of play Mike D’Antoni coaches.

As for beating out Udrih, I don’t think that’s a good measuring stick. With Tyreke Evans and Udrih playing so well this season there just hasn’t been much of an opportunity for a 3rd point guard to play significant minutes.

As for the out of control comment, there was a lot of validity to that when he first came into the league. But now that he’s matured a little and gained some NBA experience, I think he does a much better job of running the team.

I have to say that I haven’t seen a lot of Rodriguez this season [that’s not surprising since he hardly gets off the bench], but I was asking myself why he doesn’t play more often. The guy is very quick, he’s an outstanding ball handler, and he’s a fantastic passer who reminds me a little of Steve Nash. His outside shot needs some work, but I think he has the potential to be a starter on the right NBA team, as in NY Knicks.

I watched Sergio a lot while he was with Portland and other than an occassional alley-oop pass to Fernandez, he was disappointing.

I’ve watched him a few times this season with the Kings and it didn’t look like he’d improved much. Neither he or Duhon are starters, but I seriously doubt he’s a better player than Duhon.

I’ve watched Duhon play all season and I can state that he is one of the primary reasons the Knicks have such a terrible record. D’Antoni’s offense is predicated on a pass first PG who can run the court and hit wide open shots. Duhon doesn’t run the court and he definitely cannot hit outside shots. His passing skills are OK but certainly not first rate.

Duhon is a decent back up PG who does well in a set offense, just like he played at Duke. However, he doesn’t fit in with D’Antoni’s style and it’s obvious every night. I think he also has a confidence issue that shows up when he has a wide open three point shot and either he hesitates to take it or he clanks it off the iron.

As for Rodriguez, I’m not predicting stardom for him, but he’s one of those guys who needs a certain style of team to do well and D’Antoni’s run and gun offense is the perfect vehicle. I think he’s better than Duhon but that’s not saying much because just about every starting PG in the NBA is better than him. At the very least, I would love to see Rodriguez given an opportunity to add some spark to the Knick’s offense.

One other point, it’s hard to play well when you know you’re coming out and may not play again for awhile if you make a couple of mistakes. Starters are far more relaxed because they know if they miss a few shots or make a couple of mistakes, they will have many more opportunities to rectify their poor play.
