    Damn, I was really excited to see how him and Tyler Lewis ran the NC State backcourt next season. Seeing as how he is one of my favorite players in the country I hope he goes to a school I like.

    @chadfordinsider: Rodney Purvis, ranked No. 73 on our Top 100 is transferring from NC State. Don’t count him out of NBA Draft yet, but unlikely to declare now.

    Its not a april fools joke guys. Why would he transfer if he would most likely be the man on next years team? This is definitely surprising in my eyes. He was one of my favorite players when he was in high school. Thoughts?

    Maybe he recognizes that Gottfried’s a crappy coach.

    I think he’ll try to transfer to a school where he can play on the ball more. Lewis will be running the point and Barber is also a point. He’s too small to be a SG at the next level and he knows that. His best shot at maximizing his potential is to be more of a point, at least a combo with plus point skills.

    It would be nice to see him go to Louisville since Siva will be leaving, but there is no way NC State will release him to a school in the conference.

      Interestingly enough, VCU was one of the final schools eliminated from his list before he picked the ‘Pack. I think that’d be a great system to showcase his talents. Similar to L’Ville.

        yes, I would like to see him at VCU. Gottfried was exposed. I wouldnt say he is a bad coach. I would say he is a plateau coach. He came in and took the same players Lowe had and did much better with them, but he cant take them any further. He can only do so much and it appears that the more talent he has the more likely he is to underachieve.

        I am actually shocked by this as I was awaiting TJ Warren to announce that he was transferring any day now and it ends up being Purvis. Didnt see that one coming.

      It would be awesome to see him playing for the cards but that will not happen.

      I don’t think that the school should have a choice on what school a player can and can’t transfer too.

    I think Memphis will have a pretty good shot at him. He was very high on them coming out of high school and they will lose a lot of their backcourt after next year. So he would get the opportunity to get playing time and go to a school he is already familiar with. He also fits in well with their style of play.

    If I remember right, he was also pretty high on Ohio State and UConn coming out of high school. So they might be two other teams to watch for. UConn had Calhoun at the time though, so not sure if losing him will have any impact.

        I was actually shocked to hear Purvis was leaving and was expecting to hear that Warren would be the one to depart first.

          I’m going by word of mouth from a couple of my buddies I know that are privy to this kind of information.

          Apparently Lewis wants to go to a smaller school so maybe Davidson? Cat Barber was going to take his spot as starting PG.

    Word around NC is that tyler lewis’ father is already gatherin info from other schools and that TJ Warren was bot happy at NCSU and tweeted something calling out Gottfreid.

    I wouldn’t be surprised if Coach Cal comes snooping around to pitch an ear full to Purvis. John Wall is one of his role models.They are from the same town. Uconn and OSU were some of his favorites coming out of High school though. This is a kind of confusing because I thought the squad would be his next season and thought he would have a good enough year to get drafted in 2014 but I guess he didn’t feel at home. Good luck to him wherever he goes.

    How would Cal be “snooping” around when homeboy is officially transferring from the garbage fire known as NCSTATE?

    That and UK recruited him after he decommited from UL to begin with.

      They’d probably will play together in a midget back court should Lewis stay.. Lewis is the better PG and floor general. Barber’s PG skills are middling at best. He’s more of a scorer.

    Barber’s speed, quickness and ballhandling skills wont be ignored for long no matter how good or bad his true PG skills are.
