high floorParticipant6’4 guard / wing from Miami. Didn’t really see this coming this year, as his development could complicate things in Miami. So far this season he is averaging ~16pts, 7rebs, 3.5assists, 3.0threes on six attempts, and 1.0blocks. Great numbers for a 4th option.
Miami has so much money tied into Tyler Johnson & Dion Waiters. Josh Richardson is looking like a potential breakout candidate, and Justise Winslow was just signed for 13million per.
How is this going to shake out once Winslow & Waiters take the court again? McGruder is showing that he’s ready for a bigger role, and it would be a shame to see him reduced to the bench @ 15 mpg.

XYRYXParticipantAlso noticed his stat lines in the MIA box scores and didn’t knew a thing about him.
This whole Heat roster and the salaries are totally insane to me. They are talanted but there is so much money attached to way to many players who also play the same positions. Whiteside, Waiters, Dragic, Richardson, Ty Johnson & James Johnson, Kelly O and next year also Winslow with a 13 mio tag like said before. If they don’t do a major trade for any top level player on a max contract like Jimmy Butler one I don’t really know how they want to go forward.
McGruder is 27 now and like all the other guys mentioned except Winslow and Bam he is not 21 or 22 and I don’t really know how he can unfold with this roster just like the OP said.
This team for sure will make some moves and it will be interesting to see how this will play out but we should give credit where credit is due and McGruder really had an impressive start this year and like I said there is plenty competition.

Dazzling Dunks and Basketball BloopersParticipantNice story. Undrafted player out of Kansas state. Grinded away in the g league for 3 seasons before finally getting a chance in Miami. Has taken advantage of injuries to work his way into the starting lineup and is capitalizing on his opportunity. His playing time probably will go down significantly when Winslow and waiters get back from injury, but he at least has proved he belongs at this level.
He’ll be a free agent after this season and I don’t really see him being in Miami’s long-term plans due to their current stockpile of depth on the wing. Maybe he can get a nice deal somewhere else though as a 3-D guy.
