The rockets need a center bad in every possible way. And he fits the bill. He’s big, athletic, a little raw on the offensive end but has time to develop.Provides pretty good rebounding ability. May need a little work defensively. But at  the #14 he’s the best center prospect there is, and should fit well with Louis Scola in the post.

    14?  Really?

I’d stop being a Rockets fan if they did that…

They dont have to take him at 14 they can trade down and get him, but he is the best center prospect besides Kantar. And if there wasn’t issues over his character and how he preformed overseas everyone would be saying he a steal at 14. Remember Brandon Jennings didn’t do well overseas either, and look at him now.

I would prefer if they take him with their 23rd.

At 14, they can possibly get bigs like Biyombo, Vucevic, Valalciunas (if he drops that far, unlikely), Motiejunas.

The Rockets don’t need another post player though. I actually think they should be trying to move up for Brandon Knight.

I think Houston would be a good team for Jeremy Tyler but not at 14. If the Rockets really want to draft then I say take him at 23, I think he will be available at 23. I think at 14 they should look at players like Chris Singleton, Darius Morris, Tyler Honeycutt, even someone like Tobias Harris. The only way you take Tyler at 14 IMO is if you know he is not going to be available at 23 and if Biyombo is not available there.

I think what the Rockets should do:

    If Biyombo is available.

Pick 14: Biyombo, Pick 23: Tyler Honeycutt

    If Biyombo is not available.

Pick 14: Chris Singleton, Pick 23: Jeremy Tyler

Plus, Jeremy Tyler was no where near as good as Jennings was in high school.  There is a huge difference between the two.

He led the top high school team in the nation to a 41-1 record while playing the toughest schedule and averaging a staggering 32pts, 7ast, 5rebs a game.  So comparing Tyler to Jennings’ high school success doesn’t work to well for him.

    I can agree with that.

The point guard position isn’t much of a weakness for us at the moment.  With Lowry and Dragic, we seem to be in decent shape.  When we only have a 6’5" center and an injury prone/out of shape 35 year old center as his backup, center becomes an instant need.

Tyler was the next big thing coming out of high school also. But i forgot the rockets had the 23rd pick he would be an excellent choice for them there, and chris singelton would be perfect at 14 with his defensive abilities to replace Battier. Vucevic and Motiejunas are to finesse for my liking. I think  Biyombo is going to be an absolute bust. I like Valalciunas but there’s no way he falls to 14.

Let KG school him. He also can be someone to run the floor and catch oops from Rondo. Doubt Tyler is there for Boston though. Tyler is going to need a lot of coaching IMO. Doc might be good for him. He is good Value in the 20’s

TOL23, You guys still have Thabeet, No? I say give the guy a chance. Seems even after he got traded he never really got a chance.

Vucevic would be ideal for Houston at 14, but who knows if they do it. No other C prospect in this entire class is a better fit than him, and he’s my bet to be the most productive big in this class as well. And when you have Thabeet, a 6’10 project PF in Jordan Hill, and a 6’5 guy playing C, why not take a chance on a 7′ 260 guy? Especially since he’s not as raw as other guys like Biyombo who might be available. Maybe it makes too much sense to pick Vucevic though, even if it’s right in their face.

You want a guy that didn’t even play well in the D-League to be a starter in the NBA?  Thabeet is a bust.  He’s 24 and hasn’t done a damn thing and hasn’t had a decent game in the league at all.

Like Nixon said, I think Vucevic would be great for the Rockets.  He’s a lot better than most people think.

Like Vucevic, Biyombo makes a ton of sense.  They could use that type of presence and have post scoring.  Trading Scola, likewise, makes sense while his value is high.
