Mad MaxParticipantWell it doesn’t help when you’ve got one guy out there that literally doesn’t move on defense…..we all know who.

XYRYXParticipantIt’s really crazy cause Dwight, Parsons and Beverly could all be All Defensive Team players and they still get burned by Aldridge, Batum, Mathews and Lillard.
It’s that I don’t like them but if you lose cause you can’t get any stops on defense and get exposed like them you well deserve beeing 0:2.
Sidenote: Aldridge is really stellar right now. I don’t really blame Jones or any particular player for giving up 40+ back to back cause some of the shots LA made were VERY contested.

morestealsthanscoresParticipantDwight and Beverley I’ll take, but Parsons? Not sure he’s even a + defender.
They have nothing, not even on the bench, at the 2, 3 or 4 spots. That’s a lot of scoring to be giving up…

i’m jus so offendedParticipantYeah Parsons will never make an All NBA team. Athletic types get by him all the time. Look, Houston will never be a true contender until they have a philosophical shift. Their blatant disregard for defense is not championship material. Morey many times has implied that the game is about scoring more than your opponent. Well that’s an obvious statement but what about stopping a team from scoring more than you? Dwight and Beverly are their only above average defenders and Beverly should be a sixth man. They’ll never make it with T. Jones as a starting PF and without a complete change in their defensive rotations and effort. They need a Thibs as a defensive coordinator because apparently McHale doesn’t give a ish. This does surprise me considering they rarely run offensive sets. Shouldn’t that give you more time to work on defense during practice?

Adam BronzeParticipantThe Rockets either need to make moves in the offseason or start rotating more players. They basically only played 7 guys tonight. 3 of them played more than 40 minutes. Even if they wouldn’t be down 0-2 right now, playing 40 minutes every game will only get your players exhausted and banged up in the long run. They’re horrible on defense but they can compensate with their offense on most nights. Aldridge going off is more of a match-up problem rather than lack of defense to be honest.

BigChamp12ParticipantMcHale has to be willing to double Aldridge….
Put Dwight on Aldridge at the beginning, not after Aldridge gets hot and Dwight already is in foul trouble…
Tell whoever is guarding Aldridge to STAY on Aldridge, no need to help off.
Tell whoever is guarding Aldridge that he wants to shoot standstill jumpers! Make him drive!
Tell Harden to show up!
One last thing, I understand Dwight was dominating last night offensively, but the rest of the team decided to stand and watch as if they weren’t playing. There were no cuts, no movement, no sense of urgency out of everyone else. Just a terrible effort, especially defensively!

TRC1991ParticipantHouston should have given Dwight every shot in the 4th. Instead, they had Jeremy Lin and James Harden take contested layups

BothTeamsPlayedHardParticipantHouston is a team that makes you hate them the way they play with such an inattention to detail and an overall disinterest in playing defense IN THE PLAYOFFS! When this team was built, was everyone blinded by the shine form all the rings won by the Doug Moe Nuggets, D’Antoni Suns, and Don Nelson Mavs? It is one thing to lose. I do not think anyone outside of ESPN thought this was anything but a coinflip series. Portland is a good squad, and LaMarcus Aldridge has been amazing. It is one thing for a young team to be overwhelmed by the difference between the regular season and the postseason. This isn’t a young team. Howard and Harden have been to the Finals. Asik played in the Eastern Conference Finals. The rest of the team was at very least around when they lost to OKC last year. You would think they would know better than to throw away games in the playoffs. Houston was not a great road team and, because of an apparent culture of apathy and sloth, now head to a very difficult place to play down 0-2.
