halfdecayedParticipantSo i saw on twitter via Marc Stein that Lopez commits to sign with the Knicks, as long as Deandre does not sign with them (it will not happen, he’s 50-50 between Clips and Mavs). Anyway, I think that’s a good pickup by the Knicks, nothing was said about the money, but 12-13 millions a year I feel would be pretty reasonable for Lopez.

bmac697ParticipantI’d like the signing for the Knicks. Gives them that big defensive centre they desperately need. Didn’t mind the afflalo signing, doing some good signings so far. I doubt Jordan signs with them

logicParticipantBuilding a solid foundation for this coming up season. Defensive minded center. Knicks fans will love him. Hes a type of player we all want. What’s next for us? Gerald green anyone ? Beverly and Dlee? We are still a lottery team right now . I think we are two pieces away from a playoff team and since we can only get one more. We will miss out on playoffs.

Mr. HookShotParticipantHow does Lopez fit in the triangle offense Phil and Fish want to run though? I thought Monroe would have been a perfect fit for them, although they would have given up a ton on defense. Lopez is one of those players who brings stability to the defense, but I believe there now several players who can bring the same for a lower price (Koufos, Wright, Asik).

benny15Participanthe doesnt fit the triangle the way shaq, pau or lamar did, like what monroe would have as an excellent post passer and what jahill could have been. but he still fits as a finisher like luc longly did and to a lesser degree chris mihm. we still dont know who else the knicks are gona get, but they can still get someone to create of the post to play pf or melo can take up that role himself. im guessing best case scenario offensively for rolo will be simillar to how mozgov played in the finals in games 2 and 6, finishing strong off cuts to the basket from passes by your star teamate.
it would be intresting to see who they can get to fill the other parts of the triangle though.

mgreener_34ParticipantTo be honest I don’t really like this move…at all. Don’t get me wrong, Lopez is a fine player, but I’m having flashbacks of the 2011-2013 Knicks. We’ve already seen what a team build around Melo and defense has done, and for the most part it’s dissapointing and caps out at 54 wins. Is whatever team the Knicks field for the next couple of years really going to be better than a rotation of:
Chandler
Stat
Melo
Shump-JR
Felton-Kidd
I just don’t see it, because I’ve already seen it before, and it wasn’t that good. And Lopez isn’t on the level of Chandler back then, and Melo is 31 now instead of 28/29. I like Lopez the player, but once it became apparent that the Knicks were going to strike out in FA they should have just bitten the bullent, and realized they need to go full rebuild. They don’t own their pick next year, and this move still doesn’t push the needle any, if at all.
The only thing I see this helping is that fact that it gives the Knicks another assett to potentially trade.

logicParticipantHow does it make sense to bite the bullet when you don’t have the first round pick. Best thing to do is field as good of a team you can. I like the two signings. I think we need a sf and a player off the bench. I want Gerald green and maybe Tyler hansbarrow or Brandon bass.
Calderon/Grant Afflalo green melo Lopez
Galloway shved Thomas porzingas hansbarrow
Hope we can sneak into the playoffs with that lineup. But I don’t think so. But we will see

bmac697ParticipantAccording to wojnarowski it’s a four year 54 mill contract being finalized baring last min change in Jordan’s mind to sign there instead of Dallas or clippers

khaled_a_dParticipantGood signing ,I actually like the Knicks off-season .they didn’t get a top free agent but they have improved with a potential for even better improvement in the future .

sitlbitoParticipantI really like him. Solid defender, does the dirty work, good locker room guy. The kind of "first signings" to a terrible team. Start with grinding, defense, effort, win some more games, and then attract bigger names.
