Austin Rivers lists Toronto among his preferred NBA destinations.

“I have kept up with teams that fit me and the Raptors are one of those places,” Rivers said. “I think I fit in this program well. I like the way they play. I like the new coach, I like how he gets after it on defense. As far as offensively, they like to get up and down and go at them and that’s something I like to do.”

Rivers worked out for the Raptors, who have the eighth pick.

“He’s more athletic than I thought he was,” Raptors Executive vice president of basketball operations Ed Stefanski said of Rivers. “He really can compete. He has been worked out over all these years knowing what could happen to him so he’s much the pro, even right now.”

“He had the year at Duke and the one thing he can really do is he has a terrific cross-over dribble to his left hand to get to the basket. He’s quick off the bounce. He’s going to have to work on getting bigger and stronger too but he’s not even 20-years-old. We saw enough through the year that he is going to be one of the top players picked in this draft.”

So rivers likes toronto ? that is something great for toronto! Dude has superstar potential, and has exactly what they need in a player. He can put the ball on the floor and score ! Not just drive, but that range is pretty good.

I really think the raptors should draft him, thats if beal or barnes dont drop to them. Liking the franchise is a big deal when drafting a player. When it comes to toronto a lot of these people don’t like to play there. When a player of rivers potential says thats a preferred destination. I really think the raptors should draft him and coaching of casey could really help his defense, like it did andreas this year.

what do you guys think ?

They could then move Derozan for a floor general, I like Calderon but he isn’t a franchise changing PG

    Derozan to Houston for Dragic

    Dragic
    Rivers
    Forbes
    Bargnani
    Valanciunas

Would contend for a playoff spot and they all compliment eachother

^of course he is. He’s only working out for 5 teams…NO, Toronto, Washington, Cleveland, & I think Portland. He made it a point to only workout for situations he really likes and see’s himself as a good fit with. The thing with Washington & Cleveland is they draft 3 & 4 and no matter how good he is in those workouts he’s not going that high. Toronto seems like a great fit in terms of them needing a go-to scorer on the perimeter and someone who isn’t gonna give them crap about not wanting to be in Canada.
I like Austin there and have him currently mocked to go to the Raptors at 8.

Derozan isn’t going anywhere he’s the raptors best young player I like rivers we can draft him and move derozan to his more natural position the 3. With a lineup of Calderon, rivers, derozan, bargnani, and valincuinas Toronto could be a very exciting team to watch

Forget about moving DeMar DeRozen.  Like igetbuckets99 said, he is the Raptors best young player.  Go out and draft Austin Rivers and move DeRozen to the 3-spot.

    Calderon – Rivers (8th overall) – DeRozen – Barg – Valanciunas

Satoransky (37th overall) – Bayless – Forbes – Ed Davis – Amir Johnson

This team doesn’t look too bad on paper, and they will have money to spend in the free agency.  Maybe they could try to attract a free agent point guard like Jeremy Lin.

With Lin, Rivers, DeRozen, Barg, and Valanciunas, the Raptors will definitely compete for one of the later seeds in the Eastern Conference.

He’d be a great fit next to Derozan.

“I think I fit in this program well. I like the way they play. I like the coach…etc…."

I swore he said the same thing about New Orleans…lol.  He is not working out for Phoenix but I’ll bet he will think he fits in good there too if they call his name.  At least that is what he will say.

Dont count out Cleveland or Washington because those picks could be traded.  Especially Cleveland.  Its only worth it to work out for teams that have picks that are as high or higher than you are projected to go, because if you slip, you still are going to get picked whether you worked out or not.  It also sends a message.   If you work for a large company, you dont go around making bids on every job on the market…you want to be more specific so that company will know you have a chance of being happy and sticking around for a while and not making the move to jump ship as soon as the next best contract rolls around.

I’m still crossing my fingers with Bayless, anyone remember when he dominated the summer league as a rookie? But I hope Rivers goes to Raptors, they might have a nationally televised game for once if he does. I really enjoy watching their team.

I think he’ll be nice as hell in Toronto with Bargs and Derozan. If Valanciunas actually comes over and is half as good as hyped Toronto should be pretty decent in the East… Rivers, Demar, Bargs, Jonas, Calderon, Davis, J.J., Amir…. will the real Jerryd Bayless please stand up?! If he ever hits his stride and everyone is at their natural positions with a little more seasoning and chemistry… they could be good sooner than expected.
