i love it for cleveland, doesnt help detroit as much but i could actually see it happen because detroit wants to unload and Z only has a year left on his contract i believe

Finally a good trade. Yeah I like the trade. It helps the Pistons get an actual center, it allows them to start Ben Gordon without any issues, and the contract is expiring. For Cleveland it gives them someone who can score and help stretch the floor for Lebron.

Maybe but not by much you get a old Center who once his contract is up gives you money and you help your shooting guard situation. They could also trade some other smaller players that would also assist this trade.

Well from a financial standpoint, it also helps Detroit since Big Z has 11 mill coming off the books next year.

I would adjust the trade, including Delonte West in the deal, with Cleveland also getting either Kwame Brown (expiring contract) or Jason Maxiell. Like you said QHaynes, you could probably get more value for Rip. Getting Hamilton in a deal would probably kick West out of the rotation when you have Parker, Williams, Gibson already at the guard spots anyway.

I think its a good trade

Honestly I don’t think Hamilton has any more value than that

1. As much as everyone is hating on Iverson for not fitting into the system last year, do you really think Rip would be willing to scale back much either?

2. By signing Ben without resloving things with Rip the Pistons told the league they wanted to deal Rip, which decreases a guys value when you know they need to trade him (or else they will have an angery SG on the bench again)

3. Rips on the backend of his career and not willing to take a bench role yet

4. His contract of 12 million a year for the next four years is only going to get harder to move.

I like this trade for both teams. Pistons don’t need rip and their biggest need for next year is a center. After the year, he comes off the books and Detroit will have more money to spend.

For cleveland, this might push them over the top. Plus, since they are trying to win now, I think it is important to get some value for Z’s expiring contract, something they didn’t do last season with Wally’s deal.

Only probelm I see, is that I think cleavland has already added AParker and Moon on the perimeter. They might prefer another big man.

Your missing one big point which has doomed cleveland from winning and keeping Lebron. Adding Rip who has a long term contract and since he is already aging . No doubt though that it would help against there eastern enemies.

I like Rip, but I think a large expiring contract is a good deal in a trade for him, especially since Z is still a good player. I think Rip’s value actually went down a decent bit once he got that ridiculous contract extension.

Someone mentioned trading Delonte. I would think that you would keep Delonte if possible and let him backup the point guard and two guard spots.

Rip might be aging, but he’s a shooter and he has a reputation as being one of the most well-conditioned athletes in the NBA. Shooters and big men who stay healthy have the longest careers.
