Ricky Ledo sent down to the D-League again. Wouldn’t one like to think that a team such as the Pacers could use him in their rebuilding stage?

I most certainly believe they could snatch Ledo for cheap. From the way most raved of his offensive attack, he could come right in to pick up the void left by Lance Stephenson. If anyone could see this pitch as a best case scenario, it should be Larry Bird. Bird got the best out of a troubled Stephenson before his contract talks came about.

 He would be cheap, but I don’t think he’s anyone’s "answer" to anything other than a guy to bring off the bench and shoot.

He had a pretty okay run in the D-League last season. 13.28 ppg 6 rpg but only 42% from the field and 33% from deep over 39 games. Not exactly what’d I’d call great numbers, especially considering what a couple former D-League draft picks have done lately.

P.J. Hairston dropped 21.77 ppg on .458% and .358% shooting last season and despite Ledo’s relative inexperience, he’s actually older than P.J. In Charlotte, P.J. is getting less than 20 mpg for a team flirting with 500.

Glen Rice Jr. averaged similar points and rebounds number to Ricky after he left college, 13.02 ppg 6.2 rpg, but did it on much better numbers due to his better shooting skills and shot selection. 49% and 39% from deep. He was 21 at the time of his D-League stint before his rookie year. 

The point I’m trying to illustrate is that Ricky is just a prospect at this point. Not ready to contribute much of anything even on the Pacers. I know he wouldn’t beat out Hill as a starter, and Rod Stuckey would still be the backup when healthy, and journey man A.J. Price would still see minutes over him. 

He’s not as much of an enigma anymore. He’s been on the map a while. He’s a low percentage volume shooter at this stage, and not a whole lot more. I’m not closing the book on him just yet, but I see him as a prospect who’s not ready to see meaningful NBA minutes. Dallas just sent him down, and maybe he can build on his experience there last year and work on tightening up his shot selection and move away from being a ball stopper on offense.

There is no way he could step in and play Lance’s role. The Pacers are 5-7, they’re in the mix in the East. If they traded a 2nd rounder for Ricky and let him develop in the D-League or travel with the team and pick up garbage time, that’d be great, but he’s point blank a guy not ready for meaningful NBA minutes in my opinion.

i’d have to agree.  his draft position (in a relatively weak draft class) maybe showed that the league didn’t see the same potential that some of us fans did.

i think his numbers last year may have attributed to be out of basketball for a year (remember he did sit out his year at providence) so there may have been some rust.
