Sports Tears In Our BeersParticipantThat is the steam we are getting. Anyone else hearing anything? Will DK actually pull this off?

TyroberParticipantDid you even read it?
"Call it a hunch, call it an assumption, or call it a prediction but STOB thinks that the 20yr old, 6’4”, 180lbs pretty boy from
El Masnou, Spain
will finally sign with the Minnesota Timberwolves. The signing will be announced before the 2011 NBA Draft we predict"They are just hoping he does. There is absolutely nothing to the article other than a fan hoping he signs.

Sports Tears In Our BeersParticipantHence the question mark in the title.
It is a theory, but seems like it is do or die for Kahn to get his man in Rubio. If it isn’t done before the draft and they end up with a chance for Irving…he will be the joke of the league…yet….again for passing on a sure thing with Rubio still being such a question mark.
Also wanted to see if anyone thinks with Rubio signed (hopefully) if the Pups trade away a top 2 pick for a veteran (links example being Granger other possibility maybe Iggy)?
I know that links are sometimes looked down upon here, but thought this was a good convo starter.

Sports Tears In Our BeersParticipantHype or no hype Rubio signing before the Draft this year, which Kahn is hoping to do, throws a serious wrench in the top two picks if one of them is the Timberwolves, as odds would make it very possible, and have a shot at Irving. All of the sudden the chance of landing Irving is then open to every NBA team willing to dish out, presumably what MN would want, either a go to veteran scorer, or veteran defensive leader/Center defensive stopper.
Take Rubio out of the situation and it’s still a very interesting situation with Irving being only one of two prospects in the draft that many (myself included) think could be an impact player with Williams. So the chance his rights get traded draft night make that situation very interesting, but it would take Rubio (future all star or future bust) to sign with the Pups first in order for that to happen.

JimmeredYaWabafetParticipantu know the nba lottery most likely will put the Wolves at 3 or 4, it always happens,it happened to the Kings in 09 🙁

Sports Tears In Our BeersParticipantHa valid point…Tpups will get the 3rd pick no doubt and make this argument mute.

Memphis MadnessParticipantI wonder where Rubio would go in this draft. I am not sure he is better than Irving, Knight, Kemba, or even Jimmer.
Rubio sounds like a slow version of Rajon Rondo. Not sure what that is worth.

mikeyvthedonParticipantIn other words, no, I do not think Ricky Rubio will sign with the Timberwolves before the 2011 draft.

Memphis MadnessParticipantI really can’t wait to watch the T-Wolves screw this draft up. This is gonna be awesome! lol
Whereas, if the Cavs screw this draft up, which is very possible, it will be more tragic. Hopefully the league "awards" the T-Wolves the top pick just so they can taunt them.
"What are you gonna do ‘Sota? I know you wanna take Kyrie and you already have Rubio, but nobody really wants Rubio… you have two choices: draft Kyrie and trade Rubio, or draft Derrick Williams and trade Mike Beasley because Love and Williams should work together with Love at the 4 and Williams at the 3, or they could pick door number three which contains a really, really, really bad choice: a white tweener forward named Jan."
The NBA should market the 2011 Draft as "historically bad teams in a historically bad draft."
Or, "Jimmer, Jonas, Jan, and Jones this June! It’s the 2011 NBA Draft!"

natedogggParticipantteams are definatly interested in trading for rubio’s draft rights. we know this much.

RicoParticipantRubio will not sign until the new CBA is figured out.

natedogggParticipantnot true. he apparently is more inclined to sign before hand because he may not make as much if the the rookie scale gets changed in the new cba

Jim in Coon RapidsParticipantThe question is who do you want at point guard, a consensus #1 overall pick of the draft (Irving) or the 5th pick of a 2 years previous draft that averaged 6 points a game last year?
0- Posted on: Sat, 05/14/2011 - 10:46am #531635
Jim in Coon RapidsParticipantBesides drafting Irving, they need to dump Beasley and his worst defense in the league, trade Rubio for a solid, seasoned vet like a Tayshaun Prince, and find a warm body to place center. For Darko the definition of ambidextrous is being able to foul or turn it over with either hand.

BKKnicksfanParticipantTimeout…does your name really have Coon in the middle? Not cool.

Jim in Coon RapidsParticipantYes, the name of the town I live in is called Coon Rapids. There was an attempt a few years ago to try to change it but all the old timers knocked that down.

JimmeredYaWabafetParticipantCoon Rapids,Minnesota? LOL
trade Rubio for a solid, seasoned vet like a Tayshaun Prince,
they’re better off going for Landry Fields
