At the age of 18 and playing in the high level Euroleague, Rubio is a phenom. But drafting him is a definite high reward/risk at this point. The kid definitely has a knack for the sport and knows a lot, but many might question whether he can transition well to the NBA’s game. There is so much anticipation about this guy. I wish him the best, hopefully he does really well in the NBA.

Point guards don’t need to score a lot (Jason Kidd)…

The biggest worry about Rubio will be his defense. Yes, he won defensive player of the year in his local league but the caliber of talent is different in the NBA and it is more of a ISO game. Can he really defend guys like Chris Paul and Deron Williams.

Secondly, Rubio will have to work on having less turnovers.

3pt shooting will come naturally to any European guard eventually. He’ll just hire a Spanish coach in the summer.
