The Bucks agreed to trade Richard Jefferson to the Spurs for Bruce Bowen, Kurt Thomas and Fabricio Oberto, according to a source.

    THOUGHTS?

They got this pick for basically nothing.
I’d think the Bucks would want some YOUNG Talent or some picks, but who knew. This is basically insurance just in case someone gets injured they still have Rich. (Manu’s Replacement) Spurs are back in contention 🙁 As a Rockets fan I hate them.

This trade is beneficial to both teams. The spurs got another scorer on their team which they needed. The spurs didn;t have to give up much to get RJ either.
The bucks saved some money this year and will save even more next year which they hopefully will use to sign a marque free agent then. But this move for them was totally financial, the bucks owner doesn’t want to pay the luxury tax if he can help it.

Where are they going to get the money for bench guys? Tim Duncan is really a 30-32 min/night player, and Manu is injury prone.

Smart move by both teams. The Spurs add a wing who can give you 15-20 points a night. Add him to Duncan, Manu and Tony and you have a big 4. The Spurs can add more with the 37th pick.

The Bucks made off very well. They add Bowen who can mentor Mout’e and teach him to be a true Shutdown defender. Thomas and Oberto could share time as backups at the PF/C positions. It also gives the Bucks cap space to sign Charlie V and Sessions

pooh, that’s a big gamble by the Bucks.I’m not so sure that they’ll get a better player than Jefferson next year no matter how great the FA class is, the superstars are not that crazy about joining the Bucks and Jefferson has been putting up pretty good numbers for some years now.Parker-Ginobili-Jefferson-Duncan-random guy….that’s a hell of a line-up…

I disagree. The Bucks were log-jammed at the SF spot. Now you can see what you have in Alexander ( who can shoot and dunk very well) and Mout’e (Who can defend like crazy) so you have a solid rotation there.

Also, I think they made this deal thinking Redd will be 100% of 2009

For some strange reason ( and i dont know why), I think the Bucks will get the 1st pick in 2010 draft.

I think the Bucks will make the playoffs next year. Just a guess.

Good trade for both sides. Bowen still offers solid defense. Saves the Buck a lot of money which they needed. Re-signing Sessions is a must. Signing Villanueva would be nice too. I’m not sure if they can sign both but they will try.

What is wrong with this website? It is so slow now….what is the deal? or is it just my computer?

I wonder if the spurs traded bowen and thomas expecting the bucks to offer them buyouts and let them return to san antonio? Just a thought.

Jefferson gives Spurs great lineup. Bench will be thin. He will be a great match with Ginobili and Parker in running game. Great athlete!. If bench is strong enoug, Spurs are contenders if healthy.

It sounds like Sessions is the more likely to be resigned, so do the Bucks go PF – Hansborough or Blair – at 10 now?

One article speculated that the Bucks could end up waiving Bowen or Thomas or both, and they can re-sign with SA for the minumum. This is a possibility too. Plus the Spurs could get unrestricted free agents to sign for the minimum in their quest for a title.
