I’ve praised Embiid and he’s received enough praise but its amazing that Okafor in the bench role (though he was out of shape), is so limited in comparison to Embiid, and Okafor is a very good player.  Anyway, here’s how I categorize the bigs in the league:

The Blue Chips – strength, scoring, passing, overall stars

Anthony Davis – Karl Towns – Demarcus Cousins – Joel Embiid – Marc Gasol

The Europeans – Either highly skilled, or brute strength with limited skill.

Valanciunas, Pau Gasol, Nurkic, Jokic, Pekovic, Gortat, Pachulia, Marjanovic, Vucevic, Mozgov, Asik, Kanter, Gobert

The Africans – brute strength limited skill

    Biyombo, Mahinmi, Ezeli, Dieng,

The Americans – not the total package

Dwight Howard, Al Jefferson, Al Horford, Jahlil Okafor, Nerlens Noel, Tyson Chandler, Alex Len, The Lopezes, Drummond, Monroe, Hibbert, Whiteside, Deandre Jordan, Cauley Stein

Outliers – solidly built, solid big men.

    Bogut, Varejao, Adams,

Even in the era of Hakeem, Robinson, Ewing, Mutombo, Smits, Shaq — well yeah no comparison.  But the era of the big man is returning.

RANKING OF BIG MEN, if everyone is healthy, by the end of the year:

    1. Marc Gasol

    2. Anthony Davis – still has to prove he can stay healthy and show some toughness.

    3. Demarcus Cousins

    4. Joel Embiid

    5. Karl Towns

    6. Horford

    7. Deandre Jordan

    8. Whiteside

    9. Gobert

    10. Adams

    11. Drummond

    12. Pau Gasol

    13. Dwight Howard

    14. Biyombo

    15. Brook Lopez

    16. Okafor

    16. Kanter

    17. Nik Vucevic

    18. Al Jefferson

    19. Jusuf Nurkic

    20. Gortat

Just trying to figure out if you forgot him or if you legit think Steven (Kal Drogo) Adams is top 10 and Jonas Valanciunas isn’t even top 20

Isnt calling him Kal Drogo kinda racist?

Im not sure the native people of NZ love being compared to savage barbarians.

saying a person bears a resemblance to a fictional character isn’t racist. It’s an observation. Calling a group of fictional indigenous people savages because they are nomadic hunters IS slightly racist. NZ, AUS, and Canada have a very proud indigenous population and I’d never make a racist remark about anyone.

Basketball would be an awfully awkward hobby/past time/passion for a racist, don’t you think?

Dude wtf. You are waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too high on Embiid. Look I’m from Philly and I’m praying for the Sixers success in the future but this guy has played 1 game and put up 20 & 7. How in the hell is he a top 4 big man in this league? Like I said I’m hoping Philly will get there but its fans with opinions like this that causes outsiders to not take us seriously in convos. You have him ahead of KAT, Deandre. Man the rest of your list is way off too.

Let homie make it through a month’s worth of games, and then maaaaaybe you can talk about how great he WILL be. You can’t go making lists like this. It makes us Philly supporters look bad.

putting yourself and your fan base down.

On this forum, I predicted Zach Lavine when he was getting 8 minutes a game would be a very good player in the NBA while his moron coach preferred giving his son more minutes.  Others were telling me that Gary Harris was just as good and then they disappeared.

I also said after the McDonalds All American Game that KAT would be the first overall pick, this is while Big Jah and Mudiay were being touted as runaway top talents.

I said at the end of the year if everyone is healthy, this is where they rank.  So let’s see what happens because I trust my eyes, and I’m stating my opinion.

Ohter bold statements include Anthony Davis being overrated, even after his monster numbers.  I was in love with Anthony Davis during again, the McDonalds all American game where that laughstock Austin Rivers was the #1 prospect on his way to Duke, what a joke.  So I trust my eyes, no one was bigger on Davis or Durant than me in college.

The problem is Davis is not a leader at all.  He doesn’t make others around him better because he is lazy.  He has no supporting cast thats true, but there’s nothing uplifting about his game.  He is like a glorified Carmelo.

Durant is also, soft as charmin.  I hate Durant’s game.

Special players make everyone around them better, they lift their games.  Embiid is doing that already.  Tim Duncan was amazing at that, as is Steph Curry (before the block curry), and Steve Nash as an example in the past.  Magic Johnson is the ultimate example of this, also the Dream.

Firstly, those past predictions you made were not bold at all. They were actually quite obvious. I even threw the remote at the TV screen when I watched the Sixers passed up on LaVine to grab Elfred Payton. KAT was always a threat for number 1, and Anthony Davis being overrated is unproven. You hating Durant’s game isn’t a bold prediction.

I hope Embiid becomes the player you are making him out to be on this thread. But he sure isn’t that guy right now.

I’d rather have Myles Turner than a lot of guys on this list.

I thought before the previous draft that Myles Turner was going to be good, but I think I might be underselling him somewhat. Guys got a very high ceiling. Definitely deserves to be on this list.

Myles Turner is a beast. MIP candidate with serious upside.

      Shot blocking stretch 5?

      Yes please!

Valanciunas may have been left off the list.  I actually liked my idea more than my ranking so I deserve to get negged since I am not following the league as much as I should.  But ranking the bigmen and categorizing the big men in the league helps give us an idea of what the big man is now in the NBA.

I like Myles Turner a lot, after his first game in the NBA i liked his game.

He does not have enough strength to bang with the big boys like Cousins and Embiid.

Embiid has more upside than KAT, who is slightly undersized.

Embiid is 7’2” while KAT is 6’10” and Embiid can do more than KAT.

Sorry, the next star in the league is Embiid.

So Valanciunas and Myles Turner aren’t even top 20?

Anthony Davis isn’t a C, so if you were doing all big men you left off a few guys like Aldridge.

Also lol that Horford isn’t a “complete package.” He’s one of the most complete big men in the league; there’s not one big man skill he lacks and he’s a better passer than most

Was waiting for someone to point this out. Seems pretty unfair to list Davis as the only PF on a list of centers then criticize him for lacking toughness.

Not to mention we’re dinging Davis for not staying healthy, even though Embiid has yet to EVER play more than 22 minutes in a NBA regular season game.

Why does Embiid get points for his "passing" even though he has only recorded 1 assist in two games?

Why do we say Dieng has "brute strength and limited skill"? He’s not particularly strong but is quite skilled with the ball? Is it because he’s African? Maybe we should base our player analysis on how people play basketball and not where they’re from.

How does Joel Embiid make his teammates better? Davis is a far better passer and defender.

How do you know Anthony Davis is lazy?

Does anyone actually consider the early 90s the "era of Rik Smits"?

        I could keep going…

I don’t see how Marc Gasol can be ranked above the Brow.
