The Clippers are reportedly discussing a trade with the Mavericks that would bring Lamar Odom back to the team that originally drafted him, according to ESPN. A third team would have to get involved and likely take on the contract of Mo Williams from the Clippers, which would then clear the way for the Mavericks to ship Odom there cheaply. A deal doesn’t sound near completion, and the Mavs have until Friday to buyout the final year of Odom’s contract. That deadline could potentially be extended into July if a deal isn’t done by then. But based on last season’s disaster, the only place Odom would seem to be a lock to provide fantasy value would be in L.A., but playing for the Lakers instead of the Clippers.

If he got his head straight and his act together he would be a great pickup for Lob City. He would be a PERFECT role player on that team as a sixth man. They could go with a lineup of Chris Paul, Bledsoe, Odom, Blake, and DeAndre Jordan. A great fast breaking team with Odom’s ability to pass, handle, rebound, and run the offense.

Odom could backup either Caron Butler or Blake Griffin. Not only would he be a key asset against the Lakers he would also be a tough matchup for OKC’s Kevin Durant especially if he mans up and plays some tough defense.

If they’re getting a motivated LO, he’d be a great fit for the current Clipper team.
I also read the Lakers might be the team to take Mo(they still have $8.9 mil trade exception from…….the Lamar Odom trade. Lots of irony if it goes down that way.

Clippers badly need frontcourt depth and Odom basically single handedly provides that.  Great move.

This would definetly annoy Lakers fans. After the vetoed trade last year they were forced to trade an unhappy Lamar, only to see him end up on same team as Chris Paul in their own city lol.

Would the Clippers take Odom and exercise the team option or more likely chase him via FA if Dallas buys him out. Odom would be happy to be back in LA as his family is based there and would be a great MLE pick up for the Clippers. He ticks all the boxes – frontcourt depth, championship experience, scoring option, good team player, happy to come off the bench. The Clippers could also retain K-Mart as that gives them an excellent 4 man frontcourt rotation and allows Griffin to mind his minutes and a default experienced option when Jordan goes to the bench or for down the stretch.

people need to slow down with saying that Lamar Odom is finished. 2 years ago he had arguably the best season of his career (won the 6th man award). yes, last year was terrible and  Lamar showed some serious immaturity.  However, he was going through some serious personal problems, and not every athlete is like Kobe in terms of being able to play at a high level while your life outside of basketball is falling apart.  Lamar Odom, if he’s commited would be an excellent addition to the Clippers

can someone whose more knowledgeable help me out with this. is it possible to deal to a team a trade exception made from a prior deal with the same team? specifically, is it possible to for a three way to happen where in the lakers end up with mo williams while parting with the exception they got when they dealt Lamar to the mavs, back to dallas and the clipps get Lamar?
