CodySLCParticipantHe had a promising rookie year, but hasn’t really progressed since. With his injury history and his lack of a jump shot, I’m not sure I’d want to give up a first rounder for him in such a deep draft.

FutureNBAGMParticipantNo way. Knicks trying to trade Shumpert? Shocking!

nick5354ParticipantIf OKC trade for him which will most likely give up their 1st round pick I will cry.
They do not need another defensive player who will not help spread the scoring burden, and spread the floor.
Literally makes 0 sense for OKC.

bmac697ParticipantThere not bringing back sefelosha, y not trade a late first round for one of the best wing defenders in the league, and like sefelosha shump can hit the three and has some scoring ability. IMO would really help okc fill that defensive stopper at the wing position.

Chilbert arenasParticipantAs a Suns fan I’d be willing to give up the 18th pick. We’re most likely going to be losing PJ Tucker and need a perimeter defender so why not get one of the best in the league for a pick we don’t need. We still have 14 and 27 (hopefully stash Capela) so 18 would be expendable

ArmanKParticipantTo sites that I’ve read regarding this story, the Knicks want to move into the first round and draft PJ Hariston

barbabodomParticipantPJ Hairston isn´t almost a duplicate of Tim Hardaway Jr.? It makes senses they trade for a 1st round pick, but not for Hairston

ArmanKParticipantI agree with what you’re saying, that’s just who multiple sites have been claiming is the Knicks’ target.

M-EazyParticipantThe Knicks would have JR, Hardaway, and Hairston who all want to play the same exact way. Lol man I don’t think the Knicks will ever get right with the moves they are making.

RUDEBOY_ParticipantI’ve the rumors of the Knicks trying to acquire a 1st round pick to select Hairston or Ennis..But i think Phil wants Kyle Anderson..Anderson seems like his type of player, another big versatile playmaker in the Lamar Odom or Toni Kukoc mode….

jonus grumbyParticipantA big guard works well in the triangle not saying he doesn’t want Anderson but sure don’t think he wants Anderson because he is in the Toni Kukoc mode. Kukoc gave Phil most of his grey hair.

Memphis MadnessParticipantPJ Hairston makes more sense for OKC. He would give them a scorer and shooter to replace some of what James Harden gave them. If they aren’t sold on Jeremy Lamb, then PJ Hairston can be their future 2 guard and fourth option.
So, I think the Thunder would need Hairston more than Shumpert. What does Shump do that they can’t get from Russell, Reggie, or Roberson?
The SPURS might be able to use Shump. They have shooters everywhere, but could use another athletic defensive guy. Shump could help Kawhi Leonard on defense, or play as a big point guard off the bench with Manu at the 2. The Spurs might not need a gunner like PJ Hairston with Danny Green, Manu, Marco, and Kawhi Leonard on the roster. The Spurs might also think that Shump could be a guy they can throw at Westbrook, Harden, Klay Thompson, Steph Curry, Chris Paul, or some of those other great guards. We might even get a Spurs/Pacers ABA Finals next year. If so, Shump can be a guy the Spurs throw at Lance Stephenson (if he resigns there), or at Derrick Rose if the Bulls get some upgrades. Then there is always the chance that the Spurs fix Shumpert’s shot.
If PJ Hairston is still available at 30, then I think this trade would work for both teams.
I could see the Knicks experimenting with some big Hardaway/Hairston backcourts. Then the Spurs have a young, athletic perimeter rotation of Kawhi, Danny Green, and Shump to complement some of their older guys (TP and Manu). If they resign Patty Mills, then they have a bit of a youth movement happening on the perimeter. Then the Spurs can go after some bigs at 58 and 60.
