McDunkinReports from Spain indicate Nando De Colo will join the Spurs this offseason.
De Colo’s contract with Valancia Basket is up at the end of the month.
De Colo, who was selected in the second round of the 2009 NBA Draft, can play both guard positions.
De Colo averaged 12.9 points, 3.1 assists and 2.7 rebounds in 57 total games during the 11-12 season.

Wavy BagelsParticipantDo you know of any information on Ryan Richards? He was picked late 2nd round in the 2010 draft by the Spurs, but after that, I haven’t heard anything from him.

McDunkinI wondered the same thing razor. I could have sworn the plan after he got drafted was to send him to he Toros, but this is he latest news I could find
"After leaving Swiss team Lugano Tigers due to personal reasons, San Antonio Spurs’ draftee Ryan
Richards has signed with Sokhumi Tbilisi in Georgia and has been working on his game before signing with Sokhumi.“I’m really excited, already practiced with the team it’s a great group of guys. I’m happy to be here, and looking forward to this new experience.”
As for the reason he left Lugano, Richards said it was simply not a good fit.
Explaining the situation which led to him leaving Switzerland before the end of the season, the San Antonio Spurs draft pick said it “wasn’t the best fit” for him and his family.
With the 2012 Olympics fast approaching, Spurs fans might be able to get a glimpse as to what he could possibly bring the team should he make Great Britain’s men’s squad. Right now, he is part of the preliminary squad. "
For the Swiss team he was putting up about 11 pounts and 5 rebounds in 25 minutes , and for his recent team in Georgia 12 and 3
Im pretty sure he will make Englands national team for the Olympics so there should be more talk of him and the Spurs over the summer.
And should the Spurs decide to bring him to the team, he could be sent to play with their D-League affiliate Austin Toros to get him acclimated to the Spurs’ system.

SpacegrassParticipantIt’s not like the Spurs need any more depth , best run franchise in US pro sports from a personnel standpoint.

Kinguy11ParticipantThe only time I’ve seen him play was vs New Zealand. In that game he played 31 minutes and I likes his game, however, he did get fouled out in the game I was watching (he averaged 2.66 fouls per game in the world champs) he has a nice outside shot and can pass as well so I think this is a pretty good signing.

aamir543ParticipantDavis Bertans is a sharp shooting big man that the Spurs picked last year, he’s only 19 years old doesn’t turn 20 till November, not sure when he’d come over but his shooting skills at 6’10 would certainly help the Spurs. And they also picked Adam Hanga at 59 last year, he’s 23 years old, a 6’7 shooting guard, but Bertans just signed a three and a half year contract in Janruary with the Serbian team KK Partizan, which means he probably won’t come over until 2015, but even then he’ll only be 22 or 23 years old and I expect to have a Matt Bonner type of role. I love the Spurs strategy of stashing young guys overseas, and it has paid off with Manu, Splitter, even Fabricio Oberto who helped them to win the 07 championship, and remember, they were the ones that initially drafted Luis Scola, whom they traded for Vassilus Spanoulis, an uber talented point guard who never got any PT with Houston, Coach Pop even sent Tony Parker to Greece to go talk to him, but he had already signed a contract there. And coincidently in that same deal the Spurs aquired a second round pick with which they used to pick Nando DeColo. I love disecting all of these moves the Spurs have made the past decade.

TomShoeParticipantOh great, just what the Spurs need. MORE DEPTH. This team is already deeper than the Pacific Ocean.
For those who don’t know about De Colo, here’s his vitals in a nutshell:
6’5" 187 Combo Guard from France
STRENGTHS:
– Pick and roll play
– Ability to create own shot
– Confidence
– Basketball instincts
– Cultural adjustment to NBA
– High-level productivity
– Positional versatility
– Court vision
– Solid passer
– Size for position
– Solid frame
– 3-point range
– Free throw shooting
– Pull-up jumper
WEAKNESSES:
– Not a true point guard
– Ability to defend position at next level?
– Lateral quickness- Limited upside?
– Can NBA rookie scale compete financially w/other options?
– Average athleticism

aamir543Participant^That’s exactly the type of player that would fit in perfectly with the Spurs’ roster. But damn is this team gonna be DEEP. And the crazy part is that with Duncan’s regualar season minutes contining to go down, there’ll be plenty of PT for these young guys, Parker and Manu, Danny Green, and Gary Neal is their current guard rotation. Leanord and Jackson share time at the 3, and Splitter, Diaw, Duncan, and Matt Bonner split at the big man spots, with DeJuan Blair being the odd man out, but after yesterday it seems like Coach Pop might want to get Blair in some more, he’s big and strong and clears up a lot of room down low.

aamir543ParticipantAnd DeColo could play a big role in their plans for the future, because they very well could let Neal walk if they feel the price is too high, and are fine with DeColo playing around 20 mintues a night for them. Or maybe even Patty Mills ight fill that void, assuming he opts into his 1 million dollar option for next season.

JunkYardDogParticipantSplitter
Duncan

Parker
Blair
Bonner
Jackson
De Colo

Pat mills : PO worth 1M
Diaw : FA
Neal : FA
Green : FA
Lorbek : ?…
I don’t know what they plan to do but there is lots of possibilities… I think they will extend Diaw (if they can’t thay will try to bring lorbek) and at least 1 of the others (certainly Neal who is versatile). Patty Mills would be great as a 3rd pg… so much attractive options.

NashyMingParticipantI really liked Nando De Colo (more than his ex-teammate Rodrigue Beaubois). A 6’5 PG that actually pass the ball and can score a bit.
Great pick for the Spurs.
