    http://www.nbadraft.net/forum/tracy-mcgrady-so-overrated

Now let me demolish your thread piece by piece.

"its not like he never had any help…. in ’99, the toronto raptors had T-Mac, Vince Carter, Charles Oakley, Muggsy Bogues, Kevin Willis, Dell Curry, and Antonio Davis thats a solid team but only finished 45-37 and got shut out in the first round by the knicks!"

    1. Tracy McGrady was only 20 years old.. How is a 20 year old suppose to lead a team to the playoffs?

    2. Muggsy Bogues, Kevin Willis, Dell Curry, Antonio Davis, and Charles Oakley had an average of 35 and played an average of 23mpg.. They were NO WHERE near good so STFU because you sound stupid.

"Lets take a look at the 2002 Orlando Magic, which included T-Mac, Mike Miller, Shawn Kemp, Darrell Armstrong, Grant Hill, Drew Gooden, Horace Grant, and Pat Garrity…your telling me that team only won 42 games and couldnt get out of the 1st round?"

    1. Mike Miller played 49 games, Grant Hill played 29 games. Horace Grant played 5 games, Drew Gooden played 19 games, Shawn Kemp is 33 years old.  Pat Garitty is the worst rebounder 6’9" forward the game has ever seen.  Armstrong was 34yrs old and played less than 28minutes a game.

Once again, you sound like a completely idiot.

Finally lets take a look at the 2007 Houston Rockets…..T-Mac, Yao Ming, Dikembe Mutombo, Rafer Alston, Shane Battier, Steve Francis, Aaron Brooks, Luis Scola, Chick Hayes, Carl Landry, and Bonzi Wells. that is 11 more than quality guys and while the were impressive in the regular season with 55 wins they again lost in the first round.

    1. Yao played 55 games.  Dikembe was 41 years old and played less than 16 minutes per game.  Aaron Brooks played 11 minutes a game so don’t act like he was any good at that time. Luis Scola was a rookie. Chuck Hayes is a 6’5" center.  Carl Landry once again, played only 16 minutes a game because he hadn’t came into his own yet.  Francis played 10 games.  Bonzi Wells played only 50 games, and if Bonzi Well is your 2nd best perimeter scorer, you aren’t going to win.  Once again, you’re completely stupid.

Imagine if penny never got hurt, shaq stayed with Orlando, grant hill stayed healthy

    Your 2002-03 Orlando Magic

PG: Penny Hardaway SG: Tracy McGrady SF: Grant Hill PF: Horace Grant C: Shaq

If they all stay healthy and form chemistry that is at least a 60 win team and can potentially win a championship.

    1. Imagine, imagine, imagine..You Know what Penny was doing in 02-03? 10ppg while making 13mil at age 32..  Tracy McGrady was making 13mil.  Grant Hill was making 12mil at age 31 while playing 29 games..  Horance Grant was 37 years old and played only 5 games.  Shaq was making 23mil.

    2. So this is where you sound completely stupid.  Hardaway didnt even play, neither did Grant Hill nor Horace Grant.  They would have a salary cap of 51mil so it would be impossible to sign other players.

    3. GET THE FK OUTTA HERE WITH YOUR B.S.  YOUR POST MADE NO SENSE AND I JUST LIT IT UP.

^Yea going to agree with that, you made some good points but there is no need to make a whole other thread just to trash someone else’s, you coulda just posted on the actual thread. Oh and while I agree with the points you made, no need to insult the person for a different opinion just because he has different views on a player.

    Hmm….

Anyways, T-Mac’s lazy eye is why he was so successful back in the day.

Yeah bro, saying insults is trashy. Your point would be more credible if you didn’t insult poor rhofern. If you want to have creditibility and get your point across, keep a calm and cool composure.

Sure what he said was kind of….off…. but you could have explained to him like a normal human being.

tongue-out-like-23…… I hear what your saying and i respect your opinion and viewpoints. Thank you for pointing out some of my off facts. I’m sure you like tracy mcgrady and respect him as do I. to summarize my post i just think that T-Mac is overrated, that is all. I do think hes a hall of famer and any team would be lucky to have him at any point of his career. about the what ifs…. their numbers and games played would be different because i said imagine if they werent hurt so you cant assume they score the same and make the same amount of money. sure if they do well because of no injuries they would most likely make more money and thus, the magic would not be able to sign all of them, but it was not a very serious comment just a what if to imagine the possabilities.

I do not agree with the way you told me off though. Even though i respect your opinion, i think you could have said it in a better way. this site is not for fighting or arguing…its to help increase everyones knoweledge about basketball and let fans talk and debate amongst themselevs about various issues. So im sorry if any comments i have ever made insulted you or rubbed you the wrong way, but I am not going to change my mind, writing style, or even not post at all because somebody does not like what I have to say

if you think TMac is a hall of famer… how is he overrated? Nobody thinks hes at like Jordan level so I don’t see how you can overrate a Hall of Famer. Besides I’m not even sure if some people would have him as a HOFer because of his injuries.

Man, I have read over all of the posts, and I definitely understand you feeling strongly about something. But that last post rhofern wrote was pretty dead on. He probably should have shared the high esteem he holds T-Mac in during his previous post, but even still the only person who sounded "like a completely idiot", was the person that wrote that statement. I do recall you doing a very similar thing the other day with regards to LaMarcus Aldridge, and I did not start a new thread to "light you up", I just made a response to you about why I did not agree with some of your factors. Both of you guys should learn from this and do research before you post things. You do your research quite often when something like this hits you, but other times, you come off in a similar way that you portrayed rhofern as coming off.

Also, I think what rhofern meant by calling T-Mac "overrated", was that he maybe did not live up to his immense talent. There was a time where if you were comparing T-Mac to Kobe Bryant, people would take the younger Tracy McGrady (I was never in this school, but I remember some people calling T-Mac the best player in the league). T-Mac however still has never made it out of the first round, and while he has had incredibly unfortunate teams and injuries, he also has had a number of possible close out games he never stepped up for. I would not call him overrated, but I am sure you can even agree that T-Mac did not turn out the way many thought he would. I still think he is a fantastic player, and I know the injuries took a major toll and have left him as more of a role guy than a star, but he really never lived up to his great expectations. The year he played on Houston and they made the 2nd round without him playing, you just kind of wondered what might have been. I would not call T-Mac overrated, but he is a kind of disappointing story.

Yea, I think McGrady was overrated during his time. He was a great scorer, but never a great defender, had a knack for coasting in some games, he was never the guy you wanted in big games and he couldn’t win as a #1.

Realistically, he’s the Gervin of our generation. He’s great, going to entertain us, but just never good in the playoffs and couldn’t lead a team. I respect McGrady’s game, but dobut he’s a hall of famer for the simple fact he doesn’t have the extra numbers and awards (playoff wins, titles, all defense awards, etc) to say he’s a HOF

You can’t put somebody based on a 5 year pace and stuff.

Tmac is overrated. Now im not trying to argue that some of those teams that were brought up were championship level teams but, you were suppose to be a top 5 player in the league, and YOU NEVER WON A PLAYOFF SERIES!?!?!?! come on man. We harp on guys for not winning titles or not winning multiple titles. this guy couldnt even get out of the first round. and he even played in some 3 out of 5 format years which favored underdogs with big time scorers.
