It appears that the Pistons are willing to move on from their $80 million investment in Reggie Jackson. Nearly two years ago, the Pistons traded DJ Augustin, Kyle Singler, and two second rounders for Jackson in a three-team deal that landed Enes Kanter in Oklahoma City. If Detroit decides to trade Jackson, they should receive much more than what they paid to get him. While the Magic are a team that has been linked to Reggie Jackson, there are more point guard needy teams who should be calling for his services. Among those are the Bucks, Knicks, 76ers, Mavericks, Nuggets, Timberwolves, Kings, and Pelicans. Which team do you think could realistically make a deal? And what could the Pistons get in return?

1)Your bucks trade (no way the bucks accept it imo) sets Jackson’s value extremely high, with arguably a package close to what was given out for Cousins with a recent lottery pick (hard to say who has the most value right now between Heild and Maker, Maker very unproven but apparently more upside) and a first rounder (Milwaukee’s pick should be lower and in a worse 2018 draft, but not that significantly given Boogie’s impact), rest of the package being way more significant and interesting in your deal (Snell+Delly is better than the Tyreke Golloway duo).

      2) Knicks trade has credibility but I don’t think any of the two want to do it. Imo Knicks are winner in terms of play value, but you can argue there is a salary dump aspect with Jackson, and netting cheap decent backup O’Quinn might be worth it.

3)I don’t see it from the Pistons with Drummond-Baynes-Boban. This trade does not make sense for the sixers. No guarantee Jackson would fit better than McConnell, and salary difference is so big that TJ should be worth way more despite arguably lower play value. That’s too much to give for D-League regular Stanley Johnson.

      4) That’s a fair-trade assuming that first round pick is absurdly protected and does not convey until the mavericks make the playoffs again. Otherwise (unprotected), you forgot Andre Drummond on that deal.

5)I don’t think either team would do that. It surely can be fair depending on the pick’s protections. It does not really make sense from the Nuggets after that Plumlee trade though.

6)That’s the rumored trade. Very lose-lose imo, probably fair though.

7)not possible (Kings pick situation with Bulls; Sixers) unless we are talking Newly acquired NOP pick, and then it is just beyond absurd: the kings would do it (they’re the kings!).

      8) you forgot Andre Drummond.

      9)You forgot Pistons 2017 first.

There was a lightweight three team rumor around – Reggie Jackson – Lou Williams – Payton

More serious talks involve Jackson for Jeff Green and DJ Augustin. Basically a salary dump of Jackson’s contract for the pistons

Another thing I read was that the Spurs were actually interested in Stanley Johnson a few months ago when he was in trouble and got suspended by the team – the Spurs were trying to buy low on Johnson…. Popp and Kawhi Leonard as a role model would be good for anyone to turn their career around…

I remember when Reggie was a freshman I posted here he was a lottery Talent he was the best player on the floor when Boston College beat number one ranked North Carolina and I think I got -10 points kind of funny how much people can’t see what’s right in front of their face

I hope this isn’t your first post since then.  I say lots of things that I think will come off as profound but usually end with a negative total.  Where is fun in trying to attain points by being politically correct or only replying to threads when you agree with the OP.  I love the hot takes so keep them coming.

Reggie is an excellent back-up but he’s just a mediocre starter at best. He reminds me of Bobby Jackson, one of the best bench point guards in recent memory. Good enough to be a powerhouse off the bench but leaves something to be desired as a starter.

If he would’ve just stayed in his lane at OKC and been fine with being the 6th man, we could’ve really used him this year and last year in the playoffs

Seems the problem hasn’t changed in Detroit. This has to be reminding Piston fans of a similar combo gaurding Rodney Stuckey. Or overpaying for Gordon, or Villanueva, or J-Smoove. Since the Pistons Championship they have tried to recapture glory at whoever shows promise by throwing money at them and it hasn’t worked. This time they actually did a good job of building through the draft even know they kept landing mid lottery picks and Reggie was supposed to push them over the top but it didn’t happen.

    Reggie Jackson to the Bulls

Rajon Rondo and Chicago’s 2018 and 2020 first round picks to the Pistons

is reggie jackson just a longer darren collison or is he just having a down season comming back from injury? he dint look that bad last season averaging 19 and 6 with 3 boards a game as a point guard, but was that a result of his role in SVGs system or actual growth from himself as a player? should any team still take a chance on him having him as a starting pg in mind, or just consider him as insurance in case their real starting pg gets injured?

IMO, he’s far too ball dominant. Shoots an ok percentage from 3 but should have averaged more assists last year. He goes hero ball when the game is close because he wants to be the man and has a chip on his shoulder. He’s got all the tools, just needs to figure it out. I think he’s a bit too stubborn. Not a comp in terms of play style, but I see similarities to Billups. Took him a while to figure out how to put it all together too. I hope he does soon, or I hope he nets us a good return in trade.

There is a reason the Pistons are looking to unload Reggie
