TheGuyParticipantYesterday I noticed that a youtube video featuring Lin the victim of several flagrant fouls not getting any calls or reviews for flagrants or some cases not even a foul call. Every single instance was an obvious flagrant yet the refs didn’t even bother to think other wise. It became a national story, on espn and all other major sports media outlets and even other non sports specific outlets.
The fans who made the video even submitted it to the league offices. The league responded with a dismissive ready made-copy and paste statement saying that the refs with correct in every single example, lmao. Clearly they didn’t watch and just tried to quickly push this to the side.
Another interesting component was that a handful of the players who flagrantly fouled Lin are "star" players, guys you obviously get protected by the refs for being a big name. We all know that’s the m.o. of the league. However the reall underlying topic this video has brought to light is that is some sort of bias against Lin for not calling the flagrant fouls, but is it race based? The video never mentioned it, so credit them for not turning it into some sorta race bate sideshow, but the topic of race came up with the media, and it’s not unwarrented. It may not even be something the refs are cognitively doing but something they have a possible inhearnt bias that they may not realize.
It’s really an interesting topic, hopefully Lin (and all players) get fair calls from the refs from the refs. I’m really disapointed the league tried to just side-arm this a non-issue when it clearly is a real thing. Anyways, shout out to Jeremy Lin who’s stardom may have faded but he’s still a productive player in the league.
here’s the link to the video

Magic JordanParticipantClearly you didn’t read the leagues statement because it was anything but dismissive. They give plenty of counter examples or people who have drivin more or close to as much as Lin and have not recieved flagrant fouls. Reggie Jackson and Tony Parker are two that I can list off the top of my head.
So move along, nothing to see here.
