Can you explain this move for the Bucks? The best this gets them is to a 6th game in the opening round of the playoffs and hurts them long term. I like Harris and Lamb quite a bit (Lamb more than Harris).

Arguably one of the best collective of young players with great potential on one team this season. Development is key, though.

I would certainly argue that they have the best collection of young players on one team (biased opinion but Cavs have 4 players in their 1st or 2nd years, one of them a superstar) simply because they don’t have the standout superstar. Vucevic does look like a legit double-double center though which is a big piece. That being said, I really like the trade for Orlando and their long term outlook, especially considering their cap flexibility in a couple years.

Feel bad for JJ…he wanted to go to a contender (Chicago) or stay in Orlando. Redick’s shown a lot of loyalty to the Magic over the years so this seems like kind of a low blow.

But..the NBA is a business.

I don’t really get the Buck’s perspective on this…they just gave up a bunch of young assets for a rent a year player that will be gone by the summer? I doubt JJ resigns with them.

He’s UFA this summer so he’s not stuck with the Bucks. He can sign on with a contender for less money or go get paid by a lesser team. Redick’s probably due something like 8 mill a year and for a re-building team like the Magic, that type of deal doesn’t make much sense.

That’s exactly what I thought. They did no moves mith Jennings or Monta and now have a logjam at the 2. it’s pretty obvious now that Jennings will get a big payday as he will get a nice offer sheet somewhere and maybe the bucks are dumb enough to to match. This really looks like a team with no direction. I like Reddick as a player and he would be a great fit on the bulls but now???

The Bucks really love long lean big men…Gustavo Ayon has basically the same build as Samuel Dalembert, Larry Sanders, Ekpe Udoh, John Henson, and even Ersan Illyasova to an extent (although their games are very different).

Good move for the Magic especially. They aren’t going anywhere right now but they acquired more young prospects in Tobias Harris and Doron Lamb.

Ayon’s actually pretty strong for a big and has a strong build. I like his game and I think he could be a nice 4th big for a contender. If he finishes the yr with the Bucks I think he goes back overseas. This is already his 3rd team in 2 yrs. I doubt this is what he signed up for. I’d love to see my Bulls make a run at him if he gets waived. He’d fit into the system perfectly because he’s a really good post passer and PnR big who sets really good screens.

Bucks need to make some more move but will probably wait til the draft when they see someone they really like.

I have no idea what direction they are going but because of the market, I think they keep Jennings.

Lamb showed in college that he may be just as good a 3 pt shooter as Reddick and be a lot cheaper. Tobias was playing well early on when he got minutes.

Orlando is actually doing well at all position except point guard.
They have young guys who could definitely be more but at point guard Nelson is limited and getting older, they need a younger more explosive player.

I don’t really see how this is a beneficial trade for either team. Bucks shipped out Lamb and Harris who are raw prospects, and in return get a rental who almost certainly won’t resign with them next season. Bucks should have done everything in their power to ship Ellis out, even if it meant missing the playoffs this year. I assume they’re going to attempt to grab the 7 seed to avoid Miami. Furthermore, I’m not sure how any of the players sent to Orlando will be useful with the exception of Udrih who is a short term answer at the 1 at best.

I love Redick, don’t get me wrong, but making this trade when you’re still gonna play Jennings and Ellis 35 minutes a game is just complete bullshit. God fucking damnit.

Milwaukee went into this deal thinking that they are well aware that they will not keep everybody. Now, they can operate under the assumption that the money will be there to keep enough guys. Given how heavily reliant they are on guard scoring (Jennings, Ellis, Dunleavy, and [Udrih flipped for] Redick), it is too much of a risk to leave themselves exposed to the possibility of losing Monta Ellis, Mike Dunleavy, and have a frustrated Brandon Jennings try to work his way out when seeing that he his only scoring help will come from Ersan. If they can retain Dunleavy and Redick, match on Jennings, and draft another guard who can score (I’d be thinking Karasev or Caldwell-Pope), then they can probably be in a better financial situation while maintaining a team strength as it tries to develop Sanders, Henson, and Udoh up front.

John Hammond is a F#$%&n idiot. Could’ve gotten Josh Smith and gotten rid of Ellis. Why would you want to keep the latter? He’s going to leave anyway. Why they gave Hammond an extension is beyond me.
