Michael.S.ParticipantB-Roy for Foye even though Foye is a solid starting combo

sheltwon3ParticipantThat one was bad but the thing is if you would have replace both players Foye would be doing what Roy is doing and maybe Roy would just the solid two guard with combo skills. I think it was all the place in where they landed. Roy would not have turned Minnesota around.

sheltwon3ParticipantAlso if he would have then maybe KG does not get traded.

rvirsalParticipantit was actually rudy gay and swift for battier. but that aside, i think brandan wright for j-rich was a pretty bad move by the warriors.

auberParticipantHands down the worst I’ve seen was the Gay-Battier Swap. Terrible Move.
And the Mayo-Love swap was a joke.

xbadgerhustlerParticipantI think that BRoy would have done much better in MN than Foye did. Randy Foye is an UNDERSIZED SG who the wolves thought could run the point. They were wrong.
Randy is probably not going to be a dominant player like Roy is because he’s too small to be a legit factor at SG and he is REALLY not a PG. That said, he reminds me a LOT of Chauncey Billups now that I think about it more. It took Chauncey a while to develop in the league cuz he was more a shoot-first PG when he first came in the league. What turned his career around? Flip Saunders. Where is Randy headed? to play for Flip.
Randy, for as badly as he played in MN, still hit a LOT of big 4th quarter shots to earn him the nick name 4th quarter Foye… sounds a little like mr. big shot. I guess I should give Randy a little more time. He’s a big athletic guard like Chauncey, now we’ll have to see if Flip can work his magic

bballdave3ParticipantI mean I think Rudy Gay is going to be a very good player, but with the Rockets thinking they had a healthy Tracy Mcgrady at the time, they got Shane Battier who proved to be a very valuable piece especially in this year’s playoffs. Right now I’m aware Rudy’s playing well at the US tryouts, but still the guy has had a couple 20 ppg seasons on a 25 win team, not saying it was a good move by the Rockets, but it wasn’t as horrible as you guys are making it seem.

xbadgerhustlerParticipantyea, I definitely don’t think the Rudy Gay trade was as bad as people are making it seem…. The key to winning a championship is to have all your assets peaking at the same time in their careers. The Rockets best two assets are (were?) TMac and Yao. The rockets clearly believed that neither really had an extensive window when they’d be able to compete for a championship so they got someone who had immediate value to do their best to compete for a championship that season.
And, it looks like they were right. I don’t think the rockets would have been as successful the past 2 years with Gay over Battier, IMO. and now? it turns out the rockets were right about Yao and McGrady- they didn’t last very long. They put their eggs in the basket and came up short, but I don’t think that’s a product of trading gay for battier.
What good would have come of having Gay without any other superstars? just take a look at memphis to find the answer.

Knicksboy34ParticipantI think Love-Mayo was a good swap.
Bad swap was when Darell Arthur got traded like 4 times.

MallStax5Participantyou cant really say the Love-Mayo swap was bad yet because its only been one season…..
even though the Wolves have given up Roy and Mayo in drafts0 - Posted on: Mon, 07/27/2009 - 8:06am #191114
doubledribblerParticipantYeah, I agree that the Battier Gay trade wasn’t a bad one. Teams like Houston tend to worry about right now as opposed to planning out far in the long term. It’s not like baseball where you have about 20 something guys on your roster and 3 other teams that belong to you. Look at the Celtics. They know they have a small window to win in and they really don’t have a lot of young guys on that team or “projects.” Besides there are still some concerns about Gay. At times last year it looked like he was trying to compete with OJ Mayo for shots.
2001 – New Jersey Nets traded Eddie Griffen to Houston Rockets for Richard Jefferson, Jason Collins, and Brandon Armstrong.
2004 – Phoenix Suns trades the 7th pick in the 2004 draft (Luol Deng) to the Chicago Bulls for a future first round pick (#21 Nate Robinson) of the 2005 Draft)

OldSkoolBasketballParticipantWilliams and Websters wasn’t even a trade. Only traded the draft picks. Never actually drafted Williams.
