    Should the Celtics trade Ray Allen? He’s currently on the last year of his deal and is making $18,776,860.

    He’s said he wants to re-sign with the Celtics, but he’ll be 35 at the start of next season. The Celtics are way over the cap and don’t have any money to land a quality free-agent.

    Should they use Ray’s expiring contract to bring in a younger guard? What do you guys think?

    I don’t usually work up trade deals, but what about this?

    I don’t think the Celtics are gonna want 2 huge contracts back.

    Switch Nocioni with maybe Kenny Thomas

    Ray will probably command a two year deal worth what Martin is making the next two seasons, so isn’t that basically a wash? Instead of giving that money to a 35 year old, why not give it to a younger guard who’s probably better than Ray right now anyway? A backcourt of Rondo and Martin sounds good now and going forward.

    As far as Nocioni… He’s basically an expiring contract next season. The 3rd year is a team option.

    Boston gets a younger two guard who can score with the best of them in Martin and a tough backup small forward in Nocioni. The good thing about Nocioni is he’s basically an expiring contract next season because the 3rd year is a team option.

    Other than Ray’s expiring contract, Sacramento gets a veteran two guard who can still play… And even though Evans and Ray have two different games, he can teach Evans a few things about playing off the ball, etc.

    Hold up Tezo I have to point out something here…..The Celts are possibly the best defensive team we have seen in years, Martins D is atrocious…Alot worse than even Allen….Why would they want him?

    Ray’s D was atrocious before he got with Doc and Thibodeau too lol.

    Mikenike… Your biggest criticism of the Celtics is that they’re old. Why shouldn’t they jump at the opportunity to get younger in their backcourt while they still can?

    i’m begining to think the kings would be open to trade martin, but i seriously doubt they trade for the simple sake of unloading some contract space. They’ll want somehitng a little more to build off of getting rid of martin then just ray who you know will be gone at the end of the year.

    From the celtics perspective, i think it’s a good trade. Nocioni could provide some of those things they miss from posey and martin can add some offensive kick to an aging team.

    makes no sense to trade allen when they are title contenders. title contenders dont trade very important players midseason just to get younger unless they can get someone just as good or better back
