I give it a B to a B-.. Guys like Simmons and Ingram are allegedly game changers at the next level, but can barely carry their respective college teams to quality wins. Kris Dunn is a tweener and is way too turnover prone to play PG in the league.. Dragan Bender is not ready for the NBA yet..

I’m underwhelmed by the guys currently mocked in the top 4.. I really like Ivan Rabb, I believe the best value in this draft is in the 8th-18th range..

Durant couldn’t carry that Texas team he was on.  All these guys at the top excel in space.  It will be interesting to see how many players will declare and how many will stay in the draft after the combine with these new rules in place.

Ingram has carried Duke back into the top 20 with a complete offensive arsenal. Dude was 17 when he started college in the fall.

For fux sake, prospects don’t get much more exciting than Ingram. Wiggins pales in comparison.

Anybody freaking remember how unathletic Durant was in college? Anybody remember his 26" standing vert, or his zero reps in the bench press?

Ingram is shooting EXACTLY as well as Durant did in college, but he is clearly a step quicker.

AND JUST LIKE DURANT, Ingram is going to get even more athletic once he hits the NBA and approaches drinking age over the next 3 years.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING AT IS A DURANT/MCGRADY HYBRID.

Ingram won’t ever be exactly as athletic as peak pre-injury McGrady, but he’s going to blow you away much more than peak Durant blew you away.

Ingram might be wicked skinny for Small Forward, but he has a lot more length than Wiggins.

When Ingram starts to fill out, including his leg muscles, he’s going to be an unstoppable offensive force at SF, able to dribble drive on anybody even if he doesn’t completely blow past them. All he has to do is get guys on his hip, and use his length and outstanding balance and finesse to get his floaters/layups off.

Once Ingram starts to fill out, there’s nobody that will be able to stop him, though somebody like Aaron Gordon will do pretty well and keep Ingram outside. Where Ingram happens to shoot lights out.

But otherwise I agree that outside the top 2, this draft is uninspiring at this point.

The trick is to become properly inspired if future circumstances warant it.

Most people at this time of year rigidly conclude that only 2-6 guys in a given draft are top prospects, and everybody else is JAGs.

That’s a valid opinion when it’s waranted, but most people ignore a whole lot of evidence and cling to their Jan-Feb conclusions, even when a Kristaps Porzingis is staring them in the face.

I think you lost some people at Durrant, but I totally agree on Ingram. Super diverse player. He actually reminds me of Wiggins. He doesn’t quite get off the block as quick, but in college he’s been more reliable at the rack and from range.

I believe the top 3 to be better than most years and that the top 4 or 5 is solid. However, after that it’s a little weaker than last year.

The Brandon Ingram hype isn’t un-warranted but it’s starting to get severely overblown. He hasn’t displayed 1/2 of the athleticism that McGrady displayed at that age. He’s a very sound offensive player for how young he is, but he’s rail thin and not nearly the quick twitch explosive athlete like Wiggins was.

Like saying that Porzingis looked like a hall of famer after the first game of the pre-season?

Ingram already has more skill and more fluidity than T-Mac did at the same age.

T-Mac’s skill and size were as important to his success as his athleticism. In fact, after his injuries, he was still a good player for years, without his athleticism.

Ingram is 1.5-2 inches taller than T-Mac, and at least as athletic as T-Mac was later in his career.

Even if Ingram doesn’t get more athletic, which is ridiculous, Ingram still has every bit of the offensive talent that T-Mac had, and more length.

If you’re going to call somebody’s opinions crazy, you should pick somebody other than the best talent evaluator on this draft forum, and possibly in all of basketball.

I’ve just been on fire the last 3 years. It started around the time of "Rudy Gobert could be special".

It’s been a wild ride, but it could end any year now…

for one thing I put Ben Simmons down more than I needed to in touting Brandon Ingram. Not a good move for a two-time mvp like me.

And for your predictions man, stop shoving it down people’s throats man. I was super hyped for Gobert before he even came to the league and knew he was going to be something special. But I do not bring it out every single time like you do like your life depended on it. With prospects like Kristaps, you make it seem lke you were the only one in the whole world that is hyped for him and everyone is against you when in realty, there are a lot of people who knew he was gong to be special too.

Draft hype is reserved for guys who stop growing by 16, and who fill out by age 18-19.

Jabari, Wiggins, Randle, Mudiay, Winslow, Exum, Anthony Bennett, OJ Mayo, Shabazz Muhammad, etc.

This 2017 draft does look mediocre (or worse), but if that changes, it will probably be because of late blooming guys like Ingram and Bender taking their games to the next level over the next couple months. Bender has 5 months to show us something, as his season goes all the way until the draft, or just before.

B+ if there are 3 all stars in this draft which I think there are: Simmons, Ingram, and Hield.

if 4 with Dunn then an A-.

MORE than 4 then an A to an A+.

Looks like a top heavy draft but Sabonis, Valentine, Ulis, and Skal have potential.  Haven’t looked at the second round much, but a strong second round (along with some greats at the top) could bump up the draft trade.  Probably fewer 3rd option types, but ok for rotation guys from the late lotto to mid second round.

I think this will wind up being a B- or B draft. Simmons is the clear prize, Ingram and Dunn will be high level players, but this draft could hold a few surprises. Something tells me we on this particular forum are underestimating Bender. As I have studied him closer, I think he has the tools to become a poor man’s Pau Gasol. Very good prospect.

I keep reading good things about him, and his highlight vids seem intriguing but I really have a hard time getting hyped for a prospect unless I’ve seen him play full games against somewhat comparable talent.

I like Ingram, hes not the offensive threat Durant is though, you guys have to understand the NCAA made it a lot easier for Big time scorers to beat solid defense.. I think a lot of guys have inflated numbers due to it.. I think this drafts top5 is overrated..

lots of frontcourt help not much outside top 5 guards worth overpicking for.

its not as hyped of a draft as last yr that is for certain.

2016 draft class have started really slowly (malc brogdon has almost been the best so far from this class) but could develop into B to a C+

It depends on what you call a B or a C+, but imo if it ends up being a D that would be a huge improvement. If the average draft is a C (which are my standards), you are very far from it. Average draft has 5 good players/ one + time all stars încluding 3 great players/multiple time all stars/future HoFers. That’s never going to be the case with this one. Best case scenario, I see Simmons as great and 2 guys stepping up at "good".

So far it looks like a legit candidate for worse draft ever.

Players will evolve from this draft, I just believe the guys at the top of it were extremely overvalued and a bit overrated for a few different reasons I mentioned above.

Im a big fan of the Atlanta Hawks Front Office, I really like their approach.  I personally feel like we wil see good development from Prince and Bembry..
