According to the news, the Lakers are on the verge to sign 37-year old Rasheed Wallace. The big question is if he can still be able to play basketball at an NBA level.

They need better point guard play, more athleticism, outside shooting…Wallace was loved by his teammates..And the last time he was in the nba,he was losing some of his affectiveness..So i dont know how he’s going to play after sitting out almost 2 years..But he does add toughness, outside shooting, experience and savvy, but he adds another old big man to an already unathletic roster..They couldve done better…

Could this be a sign that they are shipping Gasol and Bynum for some random assortment of players to go along with Dwight Howard?  Rasheeds game compliments Dwights perfectly.  I just don’t know why they would sign him if they aren’t having people on the move.

I agree with Rudeboy, they really need a friggin PG. I bet now they go after one aggressively on the trade market (Perhaps Calderon or Jonny Flynn). But I think they would have potentially been better off taking a flyer on Gilbert Arenas- he would have been the more practical choice to solve some of the Lakers issues.

I made the thread yesterday, the link there says that he’s apparently in the best shape he’s been in in years.

I don’t buy it, but this experiment will certainly be interesting, the last season he played, he took 4 threes a game, and shot 28% from behind the arc, so we’ll see how this goes.
