BouncyBallParticipantAs the raptors were slotted to pick 6th I was pretty excited with the possibility of picking up a player like Harrison Barnes or Brad Beal. But now as they lost to New Jersey and fell to the 8th pick im not so sure in who I would like to see them pick up (assuming we don’t win the lottery and they keep their current drafting position). Could Kendal Marshal be the point guard of the future? Do we take the risk on Perry Jones? Do we trade the pick? What do you see the raptors doing on draft night?

festar35ParticipantTrade the pick and Jose to Indiana for Grangerand Collison. Pacers can use the pick on a guy like Jones to learn behind West for a year and George can move to the 3, Pacers try sign OJ Mayo to start at 2.
Raptors – Collison Derozan Granger Bargnani Jonas
Pacers – Jose Mayo George West Hibbert0 - Posted on: Sun, 04/29/2012 - 5:23pm #665520
johnallinghamParticipantI hope they keep the pick and grab either Jones or Sullinger in that order. I have a feeling Jones might turn out similar to Rudy Gay and Sullinger has been great from day 1 in college. I agree about being disappointed the pick ended up at 8th, I had the same hopes as you, that really sucks, but being as things are I say, unless a higher rated sf/sg drops take Sullinger for a good big man rotation or Jones for hopefully SF but if not than a PF for the rotation as well. Hate to trade Amir, but I guess you have to, if not, trade Ed, I’d rather have either of these two picks. I think Casey would be the type of coach to get the most out of both Jones and Sullinger. I like Zeller too but probably duplicates Jonas too much, too high a pick to use as a career backup. No way I’d want Lillard, Terrance Jones. Really hope Toronto doesn’t trade the pick.

Pro 1ParticipantKeep the pick and draft the pg of the future Tony Wroten Jr.
If BC trades this pick like he did the Hibbert pick for JO…smdh

Counting StarsParticipantI think what they do with the pick is less important than bringing Jonas Valanciunas over next season.

chocboywndrParticipantFirst of all this is not the NFL so the lottery still has to happen we could very well still be 6 or even up to 4or 2 nobody knows. If we fall to 8 we have enough duplication in the front court I believe to trade up to ge a player like Barnes. By draft time I also fully expect Terrance Ross to have moved into the mid loterry. He has many of same qualities of Barnes he is just smaller if he does measure around 6’6" hopefully barefoot he could be a great pick.
Sullinger is going to be a disappointing pro. He lacks explosiveness and his heavy legged, Marshall will not be as good a pro as Jose Calderon. He doesn’t shoot as well as Jose and defensivley they are same. Passing wise and assist to turn over ratio you really cant beat Jose.
If I am Raptors I am willing to trade Klezia/Forbes and say 8th pick to move up couple picks to get Barnes.I would also could live with giving up Amir/Davis and 55th pick or future second round pick to get back in the 20’s and see if we could get Wroten maybe Teague.

TruettParticipantOnly the top three picks are undetermined… So they can either move up to 1,2, or 3 or fall back in the event that someone picking behind them moves up.. I think the odds are slightly better that they move back than up… But both are really small eventualities..

SwatLakeCityParticipantKeep the pick, and draft best player available. Still chances are pretty good that the Raptors will pick a two guard. Beal is still possible, as is Jeremy Lamb. Those two are the best picks for the Raptors right now. Of course if Raptors do get one of the top 3 picks, Barnes or Gilchrist should be their pick, but I really like the Raptors selecting Lamb. They need a better shooter at the two guard. Their is a reason why they call the position, the shooting guard meaning that player should be able to shoot. Derozan is not a great shooter but a good slasher. Lamb, on the other hand is a good shooter and a good defender. With his wingspan he should be able to play a little 3 but his primary position will be the 2. If they pick Lamb, Derozan can play the 3, that still would be pretty good. Probably not as good as Barnes, but 2nd best isn’t always bad. Barnes is not that much better than Lamb. So I wouldn’t say the Raptors should settle for Lamb, but they should get a pretty good player nonetheless if they pick him.

chocboywndrParticipantCharlotte Bobcats (7-59): 25-percent chance at No. 1, 64.3 percent at top three
Washington Wizards (20-46): 19.9-percent chance at No. 1, 55.8-percent chance at top three
Cleveland Cavaliers and New Orleans Hornets (21-45): 13.8-percent chance at No. 1, 42.4-percent chance at top three.
Sacramento Kings and New Jersey Nets (22-44): 7.6-percent chance at No. 1, 25.3-percent chance at top three.
Toronto Raptors and Golden State Warriors* (23-43): 3.6-percent chance at No. 1, 12.5-percent chance at top three.
Detroit Pistons (25-41): 1.7-percent chance at No. 1, 6.1-percent chance at top three.
Minnesota Timberwolves** (26-40): 1.1-percent chance at No. 1, 4-percent chance at top three.
Portland Trail Blazers (28-38): 0.8-percent chance at No. 1, 2.9-percent chance at top three.
Milwaukee Bucks (31-35): 0.7-percent chance at No. 1, 2.5-percent chance at top three.
Phoenix Suns (33-33): 0.6-percent chance at No. 1, 2.2-percent chance at top three.

PulseGlazerParticipantBeal is supposedly going top 4, so I doubt the Raptors get him. Lamb or even Rivers would be a nice fit here. They need someone who can shoot. DDR and Jonas are all they can support as non-shooters in that offense, but with Bargs, a shooter, and Calderon, that’s not so bad.

thparadoxParticipantI’d be looking hardest at Lamb, Moultrie or Perry Jones. But I like to see combine stats… and there is still lots of time before the draft

Demarcus OnealParticipantThe Raptors NEED Harrison Barnes

PulseGlazerParticipantI’d be really interested to see Perry Jones on this team. With what Casey got out of Bargs, he might be just the guy to develop Jones.

Troupa DupsParticipantIf Brad Beal is not available then Perry Jones is the pick we should make. Let’s be honest, the current team lacks overall talent so trading the pick is a stupid idea unless we are getting an all star back that addresses a need (something like the 8th pick plus a player for Deron Williams) otherwise it’s not worth it. Why the hell do we want Danny Granger, he’s a chucker and i don’t think would make our team better. The fact that Dwayne Casey had Bargs playing help defense and rebounding at a better clip is promising. I think he can get the most out of Jones and will recongnize that he is a wing player and not a PF.

Snubs15ParticipantThe raptors biggest need is a small forward if Derozan is gonna stick to the 2. I would suggest drafting a point guard as well but there really isn’t a star point guard in the draft that should be taken as early as the 8th pick. That being said if I were the Raptors GM my draft board would look similar to this :
1. Harrison Barnes
2. Bradley Beal who could play 2 and Derozan slides to 3
3. Jeremy Lamb who could play 2 and Derozan slides to 3
4. Perry Jones if he can play the 3.
5. Terrence Ross
6. Austin Rivers

Troupa DupsParticipantAgreed Costy however i would flip Barnes and Beal. If Marshall was available late 20’s i would grab him but @ the 8th spot is way to high. I would rather use the 8th pick on Jones and move into the late 1st round and see if we can grab Wroten. Casey would get the most out of these guys
