Just wanted some feedback on a trade idea. The Raptors get Danny granger and Collison to fill there 2 biggest needs, a young point guard and a good long range shooting SF. The Pacers get a great backup for George Hill in Calderon and a talented rebounding big in Ed davis. West has only 1 year left on his deal and Davis could take over as the starting PF with Psycho-T backing him up and bringing energy. This deal would also require flipping the 8th pick for Indiana’s pick, as Granger is an all-star. I’m not sure if Indiana would be looking to get younger as they currently are a playoff team but Granger didn’t play well and the team still won on the strength of Hibbert and West. So they may be looking to build around Hibbert and the improving George. They could always draft a player like Lamb to fill the spot left by Granger. Collison had a down year and lost minutes to Hill. With Granger and Collison the Raptors could make a push for the playoffs next season, as a healthy Bargnani could be an all-star with Granger keeping the defense from double teaming Barg’s with his shooting range.

BasketballGuru24ParticipantPacers getting an aging point guard in jose calderon, and a pf would hasn’t really showed signs of improvement. Collison and granger are worth much more then that.

Bossy13Participantyeah, have to agree with the majority here and say Indy gets ripped in that deal.
I didn’t watch the Pacers much this year but when I did, they seemed to struggle in the half court at times ( Pacer fans feel free to correct me if Im wrong) and when you have hibbert down low, Granger and George shooting on the wings and West’ automatic elbow jumer, you should not have a hard time scoring in your offensive sets. So I like the idea of them getting Calderon as a back up. He’s crap on D but he knows how to run an effecient offense. Not sure what kind of deal could be made but if I was the Pacers, I’d offer something.

chocboywndrParticipantI am not a Granger fan. I think you can get a better player than him at 8 in this draft. Colangelo is impatient as this is his contract year. Being from Toronto I know how much trouble we have attracting top free agents our best bet is to continue to build through the draft taking on on dimesional shooters. If the Raptors can get Lamb or Ross at 8 plus use cap space to get solid contributing veteran in 2 years they will will be very good team.
That is safe route to me, if they want to be bold and go for the gold. you keep 8 and go after PJII who I think Dwayne Casey is perfect coach for. You now have Frotline with basically 3 athletic 7 footers, you make a trade to get back into the late 20’s to try to grab Wroten or Teague. Then grab a solid vet to teach the kids and in few years if things pan out you have a team with core of Derozan, PJII, Val, Wroten or Teague. I know for some that is crazy but considering many believe 2013’s draft is going to be one of weakest in long time getting two picks in 2012 draft with its great depth like I think is a smart move.

er1csh3nParticipantThe reason Ed Davis didn’t show signs of improvement is that he can’t he lost almost 5 minutes a game per night and that really does discourage some players, 5 minutes is a lot in a game.

mj23mj23besteverParticipantno way the pacers would do that granger has much more value than an aging pg and a player in davis who has mentioned lost 5 minutes a game on an awful team so whats that tell ya i do however think the pacers should trade granger he struggled real bad in the playoffs

er1csh3nParticipantRaptors an awful team? No, an awful team are the Bobcats, the Raptors were competetive early in the season even qualifying for a playoff spot until early February. The reason Davis lost minutes was because Casey wanted to prove his philosophy of being able to transform Bargnani into a decent defender. Which Casey promptly did, but Ed Davis was considered a top 5 pick in the 2010 draft, he fell and the Raptors were lucky enough to pick him up. This trade is not a good trade for either team, but undervaluing players like Davis really pisses me off.
