OhCanada-ParticipantAccording to almighty sports genius Chad Ford the Toronto Raptors are looking to acquire a late lotto pick to select Bismack Biyambo. Jim Kelly Senior Director Of Scouting also mentioned possibly acquiring a second pick. Raptors did not bring in many players that are a lock for the the draft to workouts just players that should be selected right around where Toronto picks…Kemba Walker, Brandon Knight, Kawhi Leonard, and late lotto players…Marcus Morris, and Tobias Harris (and some Honourary Canadians Tristan Thompson and Corey Joseph). The question is how would they retrieve a late lotto pick. Would this be how Toronto dumps off Bargnani? Will they trade Bayless plus bits, draft a PG, and draft biyambo then look to move Bargnani, will they try to clear the PF position and possibly select the Candian kid Tristan Thompson, or will they attempt to move veterans like Barbosa, and Calderon? Im geeking out on this one, despite the fact that I do not think Toronto should be drafting Bismack Biyambo at all. But hey, maybe he will turn out to be a solid defender and rebounder for 20 to 25 mpg.

QuazedUnicornParticipantI’m really pleased that the raptors are trying to get more picks even though. The public claims this isn’t a super star draft i feel that there are many players that can be very good role or solid contributers. I like Biyombo to the raptors but not for the the number 5 pick haha. but i feel he could do some good here. sure he is raw offensivly but i feel we need to adress the 30th in defensive 2 years in a row and Biyombo is a vocal i believe leader for the defense. So if we get another pick why not. Thoughts?

OhCanada-ParticipantWell I think he is just a kid. He wont be as vocal as you think when he is darting around the floor like he is on skates (similar to Soloman Alabi). I bet thats exactly what we see from him in the league, although heres hoping I am wrong and he has great success. Toronto’s offense could also take a huge hit here, trading Bargnani and replacing him with Biyambo (if that is the scenerio) could end up being a disaster, especially if Biyambo isnt the defender people expect. Then we sacrafice a fifth of our offense for false defense? No thanks. To much risk involved. I know the positive end shows Toronto acquiring a 4-bpg, 13-rpg defensive enforcer for years…but how likely is that, how many years do we see that come along. 1 of them in 10 years maybe?

QuazedUnicornParticipantI agree to where your coming from with it being a huge risk. But we may be able to get a solid offensive player for Bargs or keep him. I think we cane come to turns that overall we want improvement and so does all the toronto fans on this site so i believe toronto should find a way to get more picks because I for one think we need better pieces. Example we just need solid contributers look at Dallas our champs. barea was drafted he was effective stevensen not great but effective. I also would love to get a team motivational leader someone who can help our better players

bigdaddybluesmanParticipantBiyambo has a first round body with a second round skill set. Any team that drafts him other then late first or second round is taking a huge risk and is a sign of having a poor GM. I think one day he might turn out to be a good player, although a role player but I don’t see a big time force or even starter in the NBA.

HotSnotParticipantI’d love to see the Raps get a second loto pick. Should they use that pick on BB I can’t complain. Its a good risk. His offensive game will undoubtedly improve and his mechanics aren’t that bad. BB has other great attributes other then just his freakish presence in the paint. He’s intelligent, has a great motor and he’s confident. He will be the type of player who won’t back down from a challenge. I like that edge.
If we take a player like Bargnani and try to grade his offense and defense. Lets say we give Bargs a 8 for his offensive abilities (he settles for too many long jumpers and doesn’t get to the line enough), and we give him a 5 for his defense. I think Biyambo has a chance to be a 4-6 on offense and a 10 on defense. Why isn’t a defensive specialist just as valuable as a guy who can create his own shot but who is also a liability on the other end of the floor?
If your building a team and you PG, SG and PF are offensive dynamo’s why not run a SF and a C who lock things down on the other end of the court?

TooNice4TVParticipantDon’t the raps have some trade exception still left over? I think they’d be willing to take on a contract if they were to unload calderon/bargs in the package for the pick if some teams feel that either player is worth a top 15 pick in this draft.

genzthegreatParticipantthis draft class is not good enough to even have two picks the raps we should be able to fill the pg with are 5 pick and then in next year draft we can draft a sf or center the raps have to think about getting key players in are positions and forget about getting roll players real talk we can always wait for a pg next year as well and try and grab kantar grab myck kabongo next year haha

R-Dot-13ParticipantI would love them to grab that 2nd pick for BB
Trade Calderon/Bargnani and get another wing starter to play next to Derozan… for a PF and draft Vesely with the 5th pick.I would not like to draft a PG, because I don’t think Walker is better than Bayless at all, and I doubt they draft Jimmer.

JordanC20ParticipantHe is a much better option than Valanciunas who has no business being in the top 5.

NashyMingParticipantWe should just trade Calderon, Bargnani, Barbosa, and Kleiza for picks.
Time for a true full rebuild for the Raptors, they have been trying to get into the playoff for the past a few years while overpaying for overhyped free agents. We need to stop doing this patching and get serious about rebuilding.
If BC can somehow unload Calderon, Bargnani, Barbosa, and Kleiza for some good returns, then he may turn into a good GM in my eyes.
If it’s true that he’s trying to get another pick to get Biyombo, I am all for it (as long as we keep DeRozan and Ed Davis).

QuazedUnicornParticipantSee I know you a few of you want to keep some things and wait for next year. But I feel that when it comes to sports you take every chance to improve your team. Knowing the Raps even if we get some nice players this year do you honestly think we will be out of the lottery next yeah. I suppose if Biyombo comes in and averages 4 blks a game and 20 pts not going to happen players take time to adjust then they start to learn and grow into the NBA. Look at Hibberts draft we got JO whos gone i might add sure Hibbert wasnt consider a superstar he was considered a solid player who could gro look know he maynot blow you away but if we still had him it would be bargs Pf hibbert down low so I feel that Instead of trying to stock up next year take a chance to improve what we got. Remember that every other team has 2012 marked off. maybe we could find a millsap or dare I hope Ginobli so I think we should do our best to find ways to improve

4hff4f427ParticipantIf thats the case, if Toronto is really interested in acquiring a second lottery pick, how bout this:
DETROIT RECIEVES: Jose Calderon & Ed Davis
TORONTO RECIEVES: Ben Gordon, Austin Daye, & the #8 pick

What do they expect Biyombo will bring to the table that isn’t brought or expected to be brought by the guys they already have?
