1-Dirk Nowitzky
2-Kevin Garnett
3-Pau Gasol
4-Al Jefferson
5-Amare Stoudemire
6-Chris Bosh
7-David West
8-Elton Brand
9-Carlos Boozer
10-Antawn Jamison

note: Aldridge, Odom, and ZRandolph just miss out. I personally leave out Duncan because I think he has been playing center for a few years now and Rashard Lewis because I think he is a sf playing out of position, but you guys feel free to add them if you consider them to be pf’s.

In my opinion, Aldridge is ahead of Boozer at this point. Other than that the list is perfect.

Brand shouldnt be on the list IMO. Aldridge and Randolph will produce more than him. He is good but he is in the wrong city.

Elton Brand averages 20 and 10 on his career. Why shouldn’t he be on that list? He should be on that list.

For this coming year? I said he was a great player but he is coming back from an injury and he is in the wrong system.

I did take injuries, age and other things into consideration when making this list. but I think even if Brand doesn’t get back to his 20-10 numbers, he is rock solid on defense and taking care of the paint. He should have a better year next season and I would put him ahead of the guys I put behind him.

I think without Miller, Brand is going to struggle. Miller would have made it okay for him to play in Philly because Miller is slow and really likes to pass the ball. Williams is a shot happy PG, Iggy likes to pass but looks to score first, Young cant pass and Dalembart just takes up space in the low post so Brand cant operate. I just dont see him putting up big numbers.

I know jefferson plays center, but he is a pf in every sense of the word. He would be playing pf on almost every team in the league. He just happens to play on a team with no good centers along another 6-8 pf in KLove. But in my book, Jefferson is a pf.

I approve this list (Y). One suggestion i would make is bring Chris bosh higher i think now that toronto has some wing players and the added weight he should be able to be more dominate then he was last year but other then that pretty good.

horford crossed my mind for a brief second when making this list, but I don’t see him being better then any of those guys. Horford is in the same boat with guys like Anthony Randolph, Blake Griffin, David Lee, Jeff Green, and some others.

Bosh could easily jump higher on this list, but I’ve personally never been that big on him. When i see him play my lakers and he get his 20-10, it seems not that impressive. I don’t feel like he is taking over the game. I don’t ever remember thinking, ‘man that bosh, how are we ever gonna stop him’. He is good, but I think he is a number 2 option and is a little overrated imo. And I have actually spoken with a few Toronto fans who agree with me on this.

hmmm. if were going by now I say Amare should be before Al Jefferson, Jefferson is good, but I feel Amare has a more complete game and could take over a game on the offensive end, as for D, Jefferson gets the edge

I believe Elton Brand is still one of the top power forwards in the game, but he hasn’t played in two seasons. It’ll be interesting to see if he’s still the 20 and 10 player he was with the Clippers.

I like llperez22’s list, but as talented as Jefferson is… I’m very hesistant ranking him higher than Stoudemire and Bosh. He’s a great low post scorer and rebounder, but I’m just not ready AT THIS point to say he’s better than those two. I personally think Stoudemire and Bosh will have big seasons. With Shaq gone, Amare will have more space to attack the rim again. Bosh has added 10-15 pounds of muscle and has said that he’ll attack the rim more. In my opinion Jefferson is the 6th best power forward in the NBA, 7th if you include Duncan on the list. You also have to consider Jefferson is coming off an ACL injury.

Nowitzki is the most productive power forward in the game right now, BUT… Is he REALLY a better ball player than Garnett or Duncan? IF healthy, Garnett and Duncan are still the best power forwards in the game to me. Last year versus the Nuggets, Nowitizki actually said that Birdman and Kenyon Martin could guard him. As an offensive player, you NEVER say anybody can guard you. That’s just an example of the mentality Nowitzki has and for that, I can’t rank him above Garnett or Duncan.

Which one would you want on your squad?

Kg vs Dirk. This was tough for me and I would have put KG ahead of Dirk any other year. But KG has seen his numbers slip recently and now he is coming off an injury. Dirk still has flaws and he is nowhere near a prime KG. But I give him the nod because he is still playing his best ball, he can hit from anywhere and he does a better job on the boards then people give him credit for. I think KG will will slide a little below him. Plus he is no longer a go to scorer like Dirk is.

KG’s health is definitely a concern, but his numbers dipping are expected when you’re playing with two hall of famers. Garnett is the better defender, rebounder and just plays with more passion. He has something you can’t teach and that’s HEART. Nowitzki is the most productive, but not the best. All the talent in the world, but his mentality is what holds him back.

I don’t care for Charlie V. He plays too soft. His numbers might end up being close to 20-10. But his intensity and leadership turns me off of him. But it’s possible.

something I’ll always remember about Charlie V was during half time of a game last year he twittered how the coach was getting on him about showing more toughness. Some reporters the next day got on him about how nothing spells toughness like twittering how your coach gets on you at half time. I’m pretty sure Kobe is not twittering that Phil wants more from him. But yes, the tools are all there. I would put him on my fantasy team any day.

including players who play center, but are naturally power forwards, wouldn’t we take Dwight Howard into consideration too? as we all know, he plays center for the Magic, who start a small lineup. but his natural position is power forward, and plus the Magic don’t have many good centers on their team.

anyways, I actually believe Jefferson is a better player than Stoudemire. Jefferson is a better post player and one of the best rebounders in the NBA today. I think Amare has the edge in athleticism and has more range, but IMO he isn’t a type of player who you could build your franchise around.

because jefferson is such a great post up player, all he needs is a point guard who could pass the ball to him in the low post. but as for amare, i think he needs a great point guard on his team to thrive. his scoring come from pick and rolls, pick and pops, and free throws. but that all comes from a good point who knows how to run those plays. i don’t think Amare is a player who can create his own offense and post up players like jefferson can. and IMO, i consider jefferson a franchise type of player.

how can you not have aleridge in there? hes at least as good as boozer and west and maybe even brand at this point. dont forget boozer and west both have the 1 and 2 best pgs in the league to set them up. look for alderidge to tear it up this year. miller should help him and oden alot

Aldridge was my last man out. And to be fair, I’m not sure about leaving him out at all. My issues with Aldridge is that he seems a little stiff on offense. He settles for tough perimiter shots when he is unable to back his man down. He does not have a significant impact on either defense or the transition game. He does not seem like a guy who can consistently draw double teams. He is a guy who i will have my eyes on this year. He could easily move up my rankings.

i get what your saying. but heres where im coming from let me lay a few things out for you. he may have the most upside of any of the other top 10 with his length, height, and athleticism. although id like to see him use it better on defense i think he could be a terror. he moves so well and covers ground so quickly that with his length he could be an imposing helpside defender and along with oden could shut down the paint. i dont know if youv seen him run but the guy is probably the fastest pf in the league. i dont know if you watch portland often but alot of the time they send him running down the court ahead of everybody else. he is soo fast man probably faster than roy. kinda runs like a deer. you also mentioned him settling for outside shots. i agree that sometimes he forces the ball up from the perimeter but this guy has an awsome shot. it is so hard to block or alter because he shoots with the ball over his head and with his long arms the ball gets way up in the air before it leaves his hands. his shot is buttery too so smooth he is a great pick and pop player. i think that in a few years aldridge could end up being the best player for the blazers if he keeps on developing. i used to get mad at him cause it would seem like he doesnt have any passion for the game and seemed a little.. okay very soft. this changed at some point last year. an example of this was last season when KG gave him some grief after a basket and as he was turning around LA kinda hit him on the back of the head. he isnt takin crap from people any more. i think this year he is gona come out with something to prove and really take a step in cementing his spot as one of the top big men this season. once alderidge figures it out he is gona be a force

why would anthony randolph be a top 10 PF he has done nothing in the nba as of right now, and would be a backup on half of the nba teams at PF right now. If he has a breakout year, allstar mentionable then maybe could be addded to that list but until then Please stop with this anthony randolph talk.
