First, let me start by saying this sites "Antonio McDyess" comparison to Rak is rather confusing. I think he could be an effective player at the next level. I like his development at Syracuse so far. Yes he got off to a slow start but his size and athleticism could make him an effective role player for a contending team down the road.

While i agree he is probably nothing more than a 2nd round pick, if players like Solomon Hill can be first round picks, Rak has a good chance to go higher than expected, if he keeps improving.

Lacks the 3 ‘ills’- Skills, will, and pills. No skills, no will, and no balls for this game. Completely underwhelming player. Solomon Hill at least has a perimter skill set to work with. FA Summer invitee, nothing more.

This is not a fair critque for christmas. He blew up after his freshman year and transferred schools to a program called ANC. I played against them in highschool and they became notorious for stanganting players development. If he went to a better highschool program, he would have came into college as a much better player. I am not sold on him as a prospect, but wait another year.

that was unfair because, why? "If only" doesn’t constitute a defense of him as a prospect.

As a cuse fan, I admit Rakeem has no NBA future unless he makes huge progress this summer.  He’s only 6-9. He’s too small to play center, and has no skillset to be a power forward. He’s a terrific athlete that can block shots with the best of  ’em , but not much more than that.

He has definitely been playing better as of late and he seems to actually be playing with a passion, but his calling card at the next level would be as a defensive PF off the bench. He really has shown improvement communicating and knowing where to be in the zone this year, but most teams don’t get to see him go man so they don’t know for sure what they would get out of him. His post game has improved but it’s not anything special. Unless he makes the jump from junior year to senior year like Rick Jackson did for us, he’d probably go late second or undrafted. I bet he could get some summer invites so it could come down to him proving himself in the summer league.

I think the comparison was made when Christmas was in high school, and he had a lot of high expectations.

I don’t think he is a draft choice even as a senior. He has improved very little over his 3 years with the Cuse, and despite the fact he’s a zone anchor, he fouls 3 times per game in only 21 minutes per contest. I’m really skeptical of his ability to adjust to a primarily man to man league, especially as a center who’s going to give up 2-3” to his opponent every night. It’d be one thing if he were 18 or 19 and adjusting to fouling more at a higher level of competition, but the fact he’s 22 and still doing it so much just seems like a bad sign.

He has a lot of the same qualities both good and bad as Dwayne Deadmon, but the difference is that Deadmon was a 7 footer and Christmas is 6’9”. Dwayne still didn’t get drafted, but is playing for the 6ers. I think Christmas will not get drafted unless maybe Syracuse wins it all, which surprisingly or not does wonders for fringe prospects stock. I think Rakeem will most likely be in the D-League next season.

I don’t think he’ll get drafted. I don’t know what you guys are talking about saying he’s shown development… He’s 22 and he can’t really do….anything…Not an NBA prospect anymore IMO.

He had a monster game against Duke. I see an NBA player here. He’s not much to talk about on the offensive end, but he’s got good length and timing on the defensive end. There’s certainly a lot of teams that could use a young athletic big man, with good shot blocking potential. He might not be a regular rotation player, but I think he could stick with the right team.

You can add appointments to their Christmas Christmas cards to make them even more enjoyable and memorable for the recipient. You can also add your own home made Christmas cookies.
