As a Boston fan, I have loved what Rondo has done throughout the years, but after drafting Smart, I just don’t se who he fits with Rondo. Some have said they both can play together. Maybe, but both are ball dominate players who don’t really shoot the ball well. truth is the drafting of Smart will only make Rondo less like to sign with Boston next year.

The writing is on the all for Rondo and Boston. They have to trade him now or risk getting nothing in return. So….

who and/or what would be a good trade for Rondo…Suggestions? Opinions??

I’m not convinced Ainge trades him. Smart has the size, ability, and capability to make the adjustment to the 2 guard.

His jumper has room for improvement and if he works hard he can indeed make it a weapon.

If anything this means goodbye to Avery Bradley. But I must say if they had all three of those guys they would have the best defensive backcourt in the NBA for sure. The shooting would be eh tho.

I really don’t see where he could possibly go though, the league is so deep at the Point right now it’s crazy. It seems like the only teams that would somewhat make sense and have adequate pieces are Sacramento, Detroit and Houston possibly Indiana. It just seems as if all other teams have a more than solid Point running the show or they have a nice stud. Seems like they missed their chance to sell high a while ago.

A couple of years ago the backcourt had Courtney Lee with Bradley and Rondo and was dubbed the Bulldogs, or something like that. But with Smart I do believe Danny is pushing Bradley into a lower pay scale 6-7 per year, so he can afford the Rondo extension when it comes. Which guard is worth the money, we all say Rondo. I think Danny drafted Smart not to replace anyone, but to complement both players. AB can not play point, and there was not a SG off the bench. Smart is 225, that is strong enough to guard just about any SG. He can play off the ball, and with practice upgrade his shooting. Yeah I’m looking forward to next year.

Quick question… Why is everyone so eager to trade away their team’s all star immediately after they draft someone new? Rondo is a great point guard and a triple double threat, Smart is young and unproven. One of the worst things they could do is to trade away their best player to put their hopes in the hands of a rookie with a running mate of Avery Bradley. I mean really guys?

Let Avery Bradley go. I don’t get why he gets any hype. SUPER undersized for a 2 gaurd and can’t shoot or play point gaurd (can’t handle or pass well enough). And I think he’s overrated as a defender when Rondo is healthy because he’s too small to D-up bigger gaurds and so is Rondo. Let Bradley walk. No matter what he gets offered from another team, he’ll be getting overpaid.

He learns from Rondo or gets dealt. If I choose between Rondo and Smart I take Rondo he is a better PG. Neither is a sniper but Rondo sees more. I could see Smart playing the 2 or a deal is coming.

He can do more. Fits with Rajon if they add more shooters to the roster.

Pushing him DOWN to 6-7 mill per year? Am I reading that correctly? So does that mean his current market value is 8m or higher?

Bradley should be a backup SG who provides good defense off the bench. I’d offer him 4m a year and if he doesn’t like it, he can walk.

Why does everyone think they can’t co-exist? In todays NBA most 2-guards are undersize and Brad Stevens showed he can work with unconventional line ups. If dragic and Bledsoe did damage in phoenix as a tandem, I think smart and Rondo can form one of the best backcourts in the league.

Bradley is worth way more then 4 million a year.  I’d give him 6 million in a heartbeat and would consider 8 if that’s what it took.  Why does everyone think now that we got Smart Bradley is gone?  Bradley is the best three point shooter out of the three.  He’s great on D and just keeps getting better, he’s also super young for 4 years in league.  People keep talking about his size, well when you play with either Rondo or Smart it doesn’t matter, they both have the size and length to play bigger 2’s.

Unless your ready to pay Rondo max money, he’s gone, so he needs to get trader sooner rather then later.  Please stop hating on people that post we need to trade Rondo, they are right!!!!!!  One more thing, stop thinking we are going to get a huge haul for Rondo, not going to happen.  Think a couple of good not great prospects and/or one or more picks.

First of all, you trade Rondo because he has value. Bradley is a solid role player but you and everyone else knows that’s all he is – you’ll get nothing for him. Rondo could actually help a good team get over the hump, and he’s not going to be here by the time you actually have the opportunity to put a great team around him.

Second of all Smart can’t play with Rondo. You can’t play with 2 guards who can’t shoot. Unless you want to tank again and get Towns or Okafor next year.

This is a crazy deal but could anyone imagine Rondo to the Nets for Plumlee? We’d probably have to take back a bad contract from them to make the numbers work and get them to part with one of the most prized possessions in the NBA, a talented young big.

Some other teams that could use him:

-Dallas – unfortunately they have not assets to a rebuilding team, maybe you could get some kind of multi-team deal together.

-Sacramento – I think Rondo is a terrible fit with Cousins, but everyone else seems to disagree.

-Indiana – Their spacing can’t get worse and their passing can get a whole lot better. Could you get Mahinmi and picks?

Your not trading Rondo just because he has Value AND then mention trading him for Mahinmi and picks.  Your trading him because he has one year left on his deal and unless your going to give him max money then you need to trade him.  If he’d sign a 4 or 5 year deal worth 12 million a year I wouldn’t trade him.  He won’t sign a deal like that, not here in Boston unless Kevin Love some how gets here, very unlikely.  He might sign for that on a contending team, but he wants Max money or very close to it.

Trades I look at, Minny For Gorgui Deng, Zach Lavine, Shabazz Muhammad, Filler and a first round pick in like 2016 or 2017 unprotected.

Kings for Derrick Williams, Nik Staukas, Ben McLemore, cap filler, unprotected pick in 2016 or 2017.  If they want to keep one of Staukas or McLemore I’d have to get another first round pick.

Lakers for Randle and a future first round pick unprotected, couple of second rounders.  Maybe Rondo could get them Melo.
