Rondo is quickly regaining his form since coming off the ACL injury.  His speed is still a little down but its not far off. He’s proving what a great IQ can do when he’s probably only around 60-70% full strength.

He’s averaging 14pts-11asts-8rebs and 2steals over his last 3 games with limited minutes.  The thing that intrigues me most is that he is taking more 3’s than he has in the past.  He’s made 7 in 8 games including 3 more today when 17 is his high for a season.  He’s clearly put work in there and it appears he wants to incorporate it more in his game.

He says he has come back with a better work ethic and that he doesn’t take things for granted so I think the best is yet to come from him.  I personally think him regaining form is great so that the C’s can either trade him or lure players in.

As a big fan of his, it sucks to see him playing on a lottery bound team but hopefully a good team with athletes or shooters comes calling.  I personally love the Kings or Lakers as destinations for him.  The Kings because I like the new ownership and the young talent they have and the Lakers because I always thought Rondo would be perfect in D’Antoni’s system and they can lure in the biggest names normally.

I’m not sure he stays if they decide to rebuild through the draft but we’ll see.  Just glad to see him playing again after that injury, never really know how those will turn out.

Im a big Celtics fan I live right outside of Boston. Rondo has looked good so far. Unfortunately I think the Celtics have to move him. He has already said he is excited to test free agency you can’t take the chance he will walk. The Celtics need to get a star in this draft and right now the only thing Rondo is doing for them is making them better whick obviously hurts their draft position. It sucks to move on from him but now is the time

I dont understand why the Celts are waiting so long to deal him…The only thing i can think is that they just arent getting the offers they want. Even if they do land a top 3 pick, is that going to be enough to keep Rondo? And does Rondo even want to be apart of this rebuilding process? I see the Celts being very active at the deadline and on draft day.

Why do the Celtics need to trade Rondo?  They are going to get a high first rounder this year and aren’t likely to be big players in the 2014 free agency.  I can see them trading Jeff Green, but I have to think that Rondo, given his very unique game and odd statistical profile, is not as good a trade chip as he is a player.  Maybe trade Jeff Green for DeMarre Carroll and a future 1st rounder and rebuild from there.  Sullinger is a nice piece and Bradley still has room for improvement.

Jeff Green for Demarre Carroll and 1st? Uhhhhhh….that would be terrible for Boston. Carroll is basically Gerald Wallace, minus the All Star potential, and Atlanta is probably not going to yield them a lottery pick at any point.

I don’t think that is unfair.  Carroll is the same age as Green, is paid about a fourth of Green’s salary and there is not nearly as much difference in ability between them as reputation would suggest.  Green is a higher usage player, but Carroll is much more efficient and is the better defender.

Carroll is actually having a really good year for Atlanta.  He has an offensive rating of 115 and TS% of 57.7, while Green’s ratings in those categories are 102 and 52.7 respectively.  Green may have more explosive offensive game, but Carroll actually has a much better track record for improvement in his career so far, despite Green’s reputation as a guy with high upside.  I would rather have Demarre Carroll (and his $2.2 million contract) and a first rounder than Jeff Green and the two years and $18 million left on his contract.

I still think Pau’s expriring contract and the Lakers’ first round pick for Rondo and Brandon Bass would be the best scenario for Rondo, the Lakers, and the Celtics. Like many of you said, it’s too risky to go all-in on Rondo resigning with the team. But the truth is with Rondo’s unique skill set and recent injury you probably won’t be able to get equal value for him.

I like Rondo, he’s my favorite Point Guard, but I don’t see how he’s worth a potential top 6 pick in a draft class with such amazing potential…

I don’t know if the Lakers would go for it. Although Rondo would fit PERFECTLY with them and have a reassonable contract for a guy with his skill set, a player drafted in the top 10 (but outside the top 3) gets aprox. 3,5MM in salary, and with this class having a player that can contribute now at that price will be critical for the Lakers. They have already commited 35MM to Kobe and Nash… they will need every cheap asset they could get. Also, free agents want to play in LA so it’s not like they wont be able to get a good player or two via Free Agency.
