I am so tired of hearing convos about how Russell holds KD back from his greatness and how Russell should be traded. Westbrook has proved what he is and there is clearly no changing that. If Kevin is the superstar people say he is then he would command the ball when it’s time. U can’t blame Russ for having the fight and the attitude of a star who wants to be the man. Do you think Jordan would sit back and let Scottie take the last shot game after game? Do u think MJ would go the last 2 minutes if he game without even touching the rock? HELL NO! If a star wants the ball at the end of the game he go gets it. He commands that respect. I don’t care what KD has done without Russ the fact is Russ is back and Kevin is going back to his same old passive ways. Let’s start blaming the player for not having the dog in him the make his voice known. Durant will never win as long as he keeps acting like everything isn’t a big deal. Go get the damn ball if you really want it

The guy is good enough to get a Tripple-Double in 21 minutes and instead of trying to be that kind of point guard, he wants to be a go to scorer on a team with the best scorer in the league.

For everyone talking about how much better Kevin Durant is without Russ lets not forget how "great" he played against the grizzlies last year in the playoffs…..

You’re factoring production of KD playing with a backup PG as his second option. Trade Russ for another starting, borderline all-star caliber PG and it’s a whole different conversation. No one is saying KD can do it by himself, but Russell hurts his production just as often as he helps it.

That was the first time Durant had played without Westbrook since his rookie year, it takes a bit of adjustment by the coaching staff and the player himself to compensate for the loss of a player like that.

Durant was a marvel without Westbrook earlier this season because the other team members took on increased roles and hit the shots he was able to get them with his much-improved playmaking.

Durant is better without Westbrook because there’s no question in his mind that it’s on him, he knows it’s him or nothing.

That being said, the Thunder are still far better off with Westbrook than without him.

I’m a big fan of Russ but I have no problem at all when Russ needs to be blamed as long as it’s just about his decision making, his poor defensive improvements or what his flaws are. What I really hate is if he is slumping it just needs 4 games to start this stupid trade discussion over and over again. He really isn’t allowed to make mistaken at all. Aside from LeBron he might be the most criticised player in the league for what he all not is or should do instead of wondering what the hell this warrior is able to do for terror out there.

Next step should be becoming an all defensive type of player. The tools are there and he can weaken his opponents by letting them work for their shots but please don’t do all this trade scenarios start all over again 6 times a year. The Thunder always and ever will keep on Russell Westbrook. They know they came thus far because he is an elite player and NOT despite.

The fact that Brooks basically never adjusts to changing matchups is not helping there either. As much as I like Thabo but he is basically just refusing to score. His handles are better then advertised but there is no other consistend scorer to share with. Reggie or Lamb maybe in the future but not now.

Westbrook is the most frustrating player to watch because he’s so talented….yet there are times you can read his personality on the court.

When he first got back, Reggie Jackson was doing really well without him.  In his first game back, Westrbook REFUSED to pass Reggie Jackson the ball when wide open.

In the playoffs its so hard to calculate, but its pretty obvious that he’s AS detrimental as he is supportive to the team.  You love anyone that plays with heart.  But people need to leave their egos on the bench, and when you have the greatest scorer in the game that should be touching the ball EVERY offensive possession, you cringe wehn this idiot is jacking up jumpshots.  You have the greatest scorer in the game, what are you taking 16 foot jumpers for?  Either take it to the hole or let Durant take the 16 foot jumper!!!

The team plays better without him its clear.  But its the NBA, sometimes team doesn’t matter and one beast can just take over a game.

Comparing Durant to Jordan is silly.  Jordan was the captain and Pippen understood that.  The better comparison is Pippen to Westbrook, or Phil Jackson to Scott Brooks.  Did you see Scottie Pippen have his "i gotta get mine" moments out there playing with Jordan and coached by Jackson?  That didn’t fly with the Bulls.  Also, Westbrook dominates the ball so much because he’s the point guard, you can’t push a button and make him pass you the ball.  Tahts why, you compare Scottie Pippen to Westbrook, instead of Jordan and Durant.

I guarantee you Durant knows the potential Westbrook has to unravel the team.  He’s toeing a fine line.  Durant defintiely needs to be more assertive, but its more on Brooks than Durant, and Brooks has to get in Westbrook’s head, one of the thickest heads in the NBA.

If anyone is still reading, who do you think would be the best PG to play alongside Durant?  I am thinking CP3.

What are you talking about?  The difference between Jordan getting the ball and Durant getting the ball is Pippen was smart enough to give Jordan the ball, Westbrook is too stubborn/stupid to give it to Durant.  Couldn’t disagree more with this foolish venting… That was a nice air ball in crunch time with 30 seconds left tonight btw…

westbrooks mindset is attack, and he does it well, he takes a ton of shots but he should hes a mis-match for many other guards. im pretty sure Durant doesnt mind it as well, Plus westbrook deserves shots as well, hes a top option on many other teams in the league. maybe his teammates need him to take those shots, he made a big play in the last minute or so with a steal and a dunk just to give his team a chance, so you know he plays hard. Westbrook is the top option just as much as Durant is. If your the thunder you live and die by it.

Actually, Pippen was a point forward. The ball was moved a lot in the triangle offense and not just settle for isos like the Thunder. Then the biggest difference is made by the system (or the coach for that matter).

       Thank you.

I really believe Brooks was the one most to balme in the past for the shortcomings of the Thunder. Spoelstra clearly outcoached him in the finals and he hasn’t really a good track record when it’s on the line the last 2 years. They need a new offensive coordinator in OKC. I’m fine when Brooks is handling the playing time and makes the defensive strategies and sequences but please could give this poor team an offensive identity. I would love to see George Karl joining the Thunder as an assistant!

Seeing Reggie, Russ, KD, PJ3, Thabo, Ibaka, Lamb and now Butler running the break or knocking it down in transition should be fun as hell.

‘Go get the damn ball if you really want it’

When he has to got get the ball form the point guard theres a problem with the point guard. Why isnt the pg getting him the ball.(was henot watching when KD scored all tose points in victory while he was out injured)To me thats the end of the arguement. However say he decided to break plays and go maverick like westbrook then you have an even bigger problem. In many ways its a good thing KD is so placid as with another player with a different attitude that would caiuse serious chemistry issue (trdae demands etc, freezing out) Westbrook needs to grow up . His act is going to wera thin if they dont win a chip in the next few years.

As the second highest paid player on the team, if you come out and shoot 7-23 and have 8 TO’s you should take the blame head on

I just don’t get why it seems like everyone is just sitting on the edge of their seat just waiting for a chance to talk badly about Westbrook.  He just put together 5 really good performances in a row and the second he has another bad game there are multiple posts about how he’s ruined the team.

Just like it took OKC awhile to adjust to playing without Westbrook (I believe they went 5-5 in their first 10 games without him with 4 of the 5 wins coming against Milwaukee, Boston, Minnesota, and Charlotte), putting Westbrook back into the mix will take some adjusting as well.

This Westbrook/KD Debate reminds me of the Marbury/Kevin Garnett issue. In both cases the point guard on both teams were unwilling to defer to the main scorer. I liked Marbury just like i like Westbrook, but they dont want or care to realize that there job is to get their scores the ball .THAT is their JOB. DO YOUR JOB! Westbrook wanna be the man .. then use all that energy and warrior mentality and tell coach BROOKS..to put you on Jodie Meeks to shut him down. Dont just wanna be the hero on the offensive end of the court. I just hope Westbrook dont end up like Marbury getting traded and career went all downhill.

why don’t they just move westbrook to sg and start reggie jackson?  westbrook has average size for sg and would definitely be a mismatch on the offensive end.  just a thought.
