omphalosParticipantJust saw on the main site that Quincy Miller intends to declare for the draft after saying he would return, in a big middle finger to the NCAA and their attempt to prevent players testing the water and retaining their eligibility.
While I don’t think he’s ready, and would have certainly been a lottery pick next season, he has suddenly become the player I really hope Boston takes with one of our first round picks. Miller is still raw, but the Celtics can bring him off the bench behind Pierce who would be a terrific mentor for a guy without crazy athleticism in Miller.
If we can have Miller, Bradley and Rondo as our core for the future, with Pierce still playing at a high level, we wouldn’t need to overpay for Jeff Green (Miller has higher upside IMO), and could be active in free agency when Dwight and Josh Smith become available.
I think Miller would be a great fit on any number of teams looking to rebuild; Charlotte could use a guy with star potential, and if he somehow falls into the second round they should definitely take him with the 1st pick of the second round. Imagine if Charlotte somehow got Anthony Davis and Miller; two projected top-5 picks from last year’s high school class.
He’d be a perfect fit in Golden State with Klay Thompson as the 2/3 lineup of the future, and might be available with their late 1st round pick.
Orlando is another place in need of a SF to replace the ageing Turkoglu, and if Miller plays well his rookie year it might be enough to convince Howard to say.
Whilst there are players who leave early, aren’t ready for the pros and crash and burn, I don’t think Miller is going to be one of those. He’s driven, has great measurements and a defined position in the NBA as scorer at the SF.
So where do you think he’ll end up, how far will he fall and where is the best place for him?

omphalosParticipantAh my bad, had a quick look in the forum and couldn’t see a topic covering it on the first page.

For_Never_EverParticipantI’m not sure if he is even a good athlete by NBA standards. I have been told its because of his major knee surgery. But watching his High School mixes, I can’t tell the difference. His body is scary thin that hasn’t mature and could very well be always thin.

Seamo15ParticipantHe reminds me of a Jeff Green type player. His game was always a bit more raw than perry jones , bit I’m sure he’ll be a nice established player.

Chilbert arenasParticipantJeff Green was much more polished coming into the league with his all around game, Miller is already a better shooter than Green was but Green was a grown man, Miller is rail thin and is initially going to struggle with the physical nature of the NBA
