Its all but a given that the Portland Trailblazers will use their amnesty clause on Brandon Roy when the CBA is signed and Dec. 9 hits. He will then become an UFA and free to sign with whomever he chooses.

We all know Roy has chronic knee issues but as well all know anything can happen. We get cases with knees such as Penny Hardaway and Allan Houston, guys who’s careers were never the same and never reached their full potential. Then we get cases like STAT and K-Mart who had horrible knees but still have had solid careers.

We all know Portland has one of if not the worst medical staffs and I think Roy signing with Chicago and getting some better medical help. He wont start for them and will see limited time in back to backs. His man role will be to be in when Rose needs rest or is in foul trouble, he’ll play the last 7 or 8 minutes of the half and 4th quarter. This is the best situation for Roy

Then we have Nene a guy who is true PF playing C, I know the Bulls have Boozer but at that price he should be a 20 and 10 guy. Will Nene be a 20 and 10 guy with Rose, Roy and Deng, no but he will be a option than Boozer for 2 reasons. He’s 6’11 and Boozer is 6’9, Boozer plays a lazy game while Nene plays that physical game the Bulls like so much, Boozer excels in the pick and pop but is too soft to be effective in a pick and roll, while Nene is a beast in the pick and roll and just as effective as a pick and pop. The Bulls could use the amnesty on Boozer, sign Nene, trade Omer Asik to Houston for Courtney Lee, sign Reggie Evans and Delonte West

    Chicago Bulls Rotation

    Starting Line Up-

    C- Joakim Noah

    F- Nene

    F- Deng

    G- Lee

    G- Rose

    Key Reserves

    G- Roy

    C- Evans

    G- West

    F- Gibson

    G/F- Korver

If these transactions come to pass the chicago bulls would be by far the most complete team in the nba and a juggernaut all other teams in the league would be ill equipped to deal with. This post dragged me off the sidelines to actually register to reply to a post. As a Sixers fan I am in fear of this actually happening but I would have no choice but to respect the wisdom of that organization for making so many quality moves in such a short period of time with this impending post lockout frenzy.

I won’t trade asik who is the perfect back up and very usefull with his length and potential (he’s still young).

I’d rather decide to sign aron afflalo to be the starting SG and make a run at roy if possible.

I also chose to use the amnesty on boozer but only next year to put some pressure on him (as randolph he’s better under contractual pressure) and give him another chance to prove himself. He can still be valuable : remember his ability with the jazz to score (he could be very complementary to noah). If he shows he can play, that’s good. If not gibson takes the job and don’t forget about mirotic….

Nene could be very expensive for the bulls even if he would be a great fit but don’t forget his past injuries…

Roy’s situation isn’t similar to Stoudemire’s or Martin’s. They had an articular cartilage problem, which microfracture helps.

Roy’s problem is that he doesn’t have a meniscus in either knee and not even the best medical staff in the world can help him. Once meniscus is gone, it’s gone. He’s bone on bone. His articular cartilage is probably ruined too, but it makes no point to have microfracture (stimulates new cartilage growth) because without a meniscus to protect him from the grinding, he’d just destroy the new cartilage anyway.

The Bulls would be wise to look elsewhere.

    Let me add my 2cents..lol

1 of the Biggest Knocks Against Nene is that for his size and talents, he’s an average rebounder…

You talk about a team thats in need of another superstar its the Bulls..Besides Rose they dont have anyone else that can create shots for other guys on the team…..Rose had a superb year,1 of the best seasons a point guard in the league has ever had..But you also have to gave their coach alot of the credit to,for making the team believe in a defensive mindset…Chicago snucked up on people last season..But this year everyone knows what to expect from them..Thats why they should go after another player to ease the pressure off Rose and create plays, play the defense the coach wants and also provide some outside shooting…

Last year’s Bulls team ,reminded of the Jordan years, when even the role players played their roles to perfection..And let the star be the star…But they still must make some adjustments and add more pieces…

No way the Bulls amnesty Boozer one year after they signed him to a deal. He may have his downside, but they need a #2 option, and Nene is not at the level of Boozer on offense.

The Bulls need Boozer to be healthy, average more than 13 points and shoot better than 43% come playoff time. He’ll never be a great defender, but he needs to be better there this season.

The Bulls need to add some pieces, mainly a two way shooting guard, but I think they’ll be fine next year. They’re the second best team in the East.

I think the bulls should consider Roy, but option #1 should be Afflalo, and if possible bring in McGrady if he is willing to accept the role, would be perfect for their team. I also believe they will take a stab at Stuckey and Wilson Chandler if the price is right

^Wilson Chandler is a great option, but remember, he is a restricted Free Agent and he can’t play until at least the middle of Febuary, when the Chineese season ends, and by then the Nuggets will probably be in the back of the pack, and I’m not usre how his free agency would sork, but I’m pretty sure that dthe Nuggets would match any reasonable offer.

If Roy was an amnesty victim then I could not think of many better homes for him than Chicago. I’m not sure waiving Boozer for Nene would make them much better maybe if they waived Boozer they try to get Tyson Chandler back. Although he is not really a scoring option like say Boozer, D-Rose could feed him like CP3 did at NOH and Chandler and Noah would be a great defensive frontcourt.
