OhCanada-ParticipantI think Walker will emerge as a solid role player.
Does Billups Walk?
How has Rautins progressed this Season, could he get a rotation spot?
Does anybody know who the Knicks will acquire to fill Mozgovs role, maybe Barron?
Will Sheldon Williams become a 20-mpg rotation guy?
How is Azubuikes health?
Does New York really think they can play with no Center?

OhCanada-ParticipantThis is not as much of a Melo thread as it is a Knicks thread. Im more interested in what will come to be the Knicks team, how the rotation will work, and how people think the minutes will be spread. its very intrigueing especially for fantasy owners in deep leagues.

OhCanada-ParticipantI also love Bill walker especially in the position hes in. Sharing minutes with Fields at SG and taking spot minutes from Anthony should be great for him. I dont know why Shawne Williams continues to get the run hes getting but I expect Walker to be a big part of this team.

flyboyParticipantI know a lot of people are going to start saying this is Walker’s time to shine with more minutes. The truth is, he’s not going to get many more minutes, especially if the Knicks look to further improve the roster and fortify the bench. Mason will get more playing time and if Azubuike is healthy, and once he start getting into game shape, he’ll get PT over Walker. I expect the Knicks to look hard for a backup PG, or they may just settle with Mason or potentially Carter at the backup PG spot. Remember, D’Antoni doesn’t use deep benches.
As for backup big man spots, I think they will pull either a minor trade or sign a D-League player. I wouldn’t be too surprised if they go PF and slide Sheldon Williams as the full-time backup 5. Turiaf will likely start at the 5 and he’s a good fit next to Amare, but his lack of height will be an issue. Shawne Williams will get time at the 3/4 spots. Amare/Melo will play a major amount of minutes and I doubt that both will be on the bench at the same time too often.
This is a great deal for the Knicks. Instantly they have more credibility and a better and more clear future.
It’s a good deal for Minnesota in that Randolph gives them good athletic ability at the 4 spot and a nice change of pace to Love. Low risk/questionable reward scenario. Also, Curry is an expiring so that’s good for Minnesota.
Denver’s outcome is incomplete as they will almost certainly be making more trades. The one thing I’m excited about is seeing Lawson potentially in a starting role.

natedogggParticipantthey look good on paper, except for centre.
They are spose to sign Barron, but thats hardly a scary thought going against a side with turiaf, barron and williams at the 5.
they should be able to pick up a quality 5 in free agency. then they are set.

NarcParticipantThe Knicks need a quality Center, then they could make some noise. I think they are very fortunate to have a 1st round draft pick this year, as I think they could adrees this issue through the draft.
Overall the deal, I think while the Knicks gave up a little too much (I didn’t want to see Mozgov go), they did walk away the winners of this deal. They got possibly the best complete offensive player in the NBA today in Melo, an aging, yet competant PG guard in Billups who, is a much better shooter than Felton, and they got a young defender in Cory Brewer. Not a terrible deal at all for the Knicks in hindsight.
