I would want to point out a few more prospects, who have´nt reach to the actual MOCK DRAFT yet, but who have pretty good chances to make it some day and are worth to keep an eye on.

Tyler Zeller 7-0 C-F North Carolina sophomore
has contributed pretty well from the start of the season showing 10.2 ppg, 3.6 rpg, 1.4 bpg in only 16.6 minutes per game. Has a huge upside due to his size and relative youngness. has to become much more physical – right now the rebounding presence is weak and should be twice as big – 6.5 – 7 rpg.

Augustus Gilchrist 6-10 C-F South Florida Sophomore
Statistics: 19 ppg, 7.6 rpg, 1.4 bpg in 31.6 minutes.
Pretty young fellow, nice upside, has a nice shooting range up to 3-point.

Dante Taylor 6-9 PF Pittsburgh freshman
    8 ppg, 7rpg, 1.33 bpg in19 minutes per game.
Young fellow, aggressive on boards, good fighting attitude. Pittsburgh´s young team looks very promising and is on of my favourites.

LaceDarius Dunn 6-4 G2 Baylor junior
25.25 point per game, on of the best scorers in college basketball.
He lacks everything else right now – defence, rebounding, court-seeing etc. but someone has to put the balls to the basket, and he provides. Listed as 6.4 he is a little undersized at the 2guard position in NBA, but so are Mo Williams or Jason Terry, right?

Scoop Jardine 6-1 PG Syracuse sophomore
    11 ppg, 5.75 apg, 2.5 spg
Size is not quite an advantage for him, but he still remains bigger than Ty Lawson, D.J. Augustine or Darren Collison. At college level he is more than capable to do his thing and it sets up a pretty good chances to NBA level as well.

Chris Johnson 6-5 G-F Dayton sophomore
    16.5 ppg, 8.25 rpg,
Young and aggressive fellow, who is capable of moving succesfully to the 2guard position in future. Good physical attittude, bring always a great energy coming off the bench, rebounds are pure bonus.

Murphy Holloway 6-7 SF Mississipi sophomore
    14 ppg, 8.4 rpg, 1.2 spg
promising typical small forward, good rebounder.

Tony Woods 6-11 C-F Wake Forest sophomore
Solid center-prospect to the NBA, but not this year. Needs more time at college level – big men are developing slower.

Kenny Boynton 6-2 G Florida freshman
    19 ppg, 2.3 apg
Solid scoring machine at this point, considering him to be a freshman, needs significally develop point-guard skills and – attitude to make it to the next level.

Brian Zoubek 7-1 C Duke senior
    7.75 ppg, 8.5 rpg, 1 spg, 1 apg
He is senior. But he really is big. And despite the fact, that he does not do anything exceptionally well, he does´nt do anything exceptionally crappy either – he can score a bit, he can defende, he can pass the ball… and he comes from Duke system. If he continues working, it´s possible to him to make it to the back-up center at some NBA team or even a starting center at euroleague.

Marquis Gilstrap 6-6 SF Iowa State freshman
    13 ppg, 8.75 rpg, 1bpg, 1.25 apg in 24.5 min per game
Pretty good statistics for the freshman. Versatile young small forward, who does it all. Good feel for the game allows him to be at the right place at the right time and do the right thing, that team needs the most at the moment. Iowa State has started the season really well and looks much stronger than last year.It ain´t Brackins State anymore..

Marshawn Powell 6-7 SF Arkansas freshman
    20.3 ppg, 9.66 rpg, 2.33 bpg, 1.33 apg
Really impressive statistics considering he is a freshman. Right now he actually is much better than his teammate Mike Washington. Pretty promising young fellow. has a good shooting touch up to the perimeter.

If you find a really promising dudes, who are not in the actual MOCK draft yet, but may have an NBA future, mark them down. Let´s see, how many of them make it to the mock and maybe even to the NBA.

Marshawn Powell the 20 yo freshman at Arkansas seems most physical player
Marquis Gilstrap the 22 yo forward from Iowa State is pretty advanced too, real good IQ can create mismatches for Iowa State especially at the 3-4 position

Over here in Europe, we don´t get to see that many college games but I thought Donald Sloan of Texas A&M and Landon Milbourne of Maryland are pretty decent seniors but they don´t get mentioned on here at all.

What do they lack to be NBA prospects? Size? Clear position?

They are seniors 🙂 lacking the upside – without remarkable upside they should already be a big stars.

Although some guys aren’t opposed to smoking some weed, most wouldn’t think of eating one. It’s a shame, really, since a succulent weed named purslane is not only delicious but also among the world’s healthiest foods.

“That’s something I can’t control,” Smith said. “All I can do is go out there and play my game. Whatever happens, I’ll have to deal with it. But right now, I just got to play ball and be ready when my number is called.”

I noticed a guy, who is getting better by days – Hassan Whiteside from Marshall, freshman, 6-11. Today he has made a double double – 12 points, 12 rebounds and 4 blocks coming off the bench and there is 6 more minutes to play 🙂

His statistics are so far: 7.3 ppg, 6 rpg, 3.33 bpg and in only 17 minutes per game.

After today his statistics are going considerably up.

And the other one made it, too – today 59th of the 2011 Mock.

Actually I am pretty sure, that these players will be in the actual Mock before the season ends:
    Tyler Zeller
    Augustus Gilchrist
    Hassan Whiteside
    Scoop Jardine
    Chris Johnson
    Kenny Boynton

Other players need to be more consistent, at this point of time I would mark out Marshawn Powell – he gets plenty of playing time at Arkansas

Kevin Jones – 6-8 sophomore from West Virginia really consistent contributor on the offensive end – only double figures this season. Solid, but not oustanding rebounder, needs to work on that.

Jamar Samuels – 6 – 7 SF Kansas State sophomore – is getting better and better.

Elias harris – 6 – 7 SF Gonzaga freshman – has been real contributor. really high energy type of versatile forward – good offensive skills, aggressive on boards, does a little bit everything else, too. Pretty good basketball IQ.

Gordon Hayward – 6 – 8 SF/G2 Butler sophomore. Bigtime contributor and key player of Butler Bulldogs program. Not much of a defender, but real terror on the offensive end.

Especially Elias Harris looks like a bigtime prospect, but kevin Jones is interesting as well.

In my other favourite underdogs – Hassan Whiteside from marshall shows a bigtime talent and I wo´nt wonder to find him from next MOCK already. All other prospects havve perfomed pretty good as well.

And so Hassan Whiteside landed to this actual draftlist as I told and straight to the 4th place at 2011 Mock. He is worth that place – his willingness and desire to challenge opponents defensively and on boards is consistent through every game in college so far. He is eager to score as well, so his development should be a matter of 1-2 years. Marshall U is lucky to have such a prospect playing this season and probably next as well.

Matt Bouldin 6-5 215 Gonzaga SR

He has tightened up his frame this year and is finally “The Man” in Spokane…He is probably one of the best all around guards in College this year good work 20 Points 5 Boards 5 assists and 2 steals almost every night…Excellent ball handler, definitely old school…

Robert Sacre 7-0 250 Gonzaga SO (Redshirt)

One of the marquee Centers in all of college Basketball, very athletic big and strong. Has a plethora of post moves led by his smooth jump hook. Can board and block with the best of them, my #3 center in all of college basketball behind Greg Monroe of Georgetown and Cole Aldrich of Kansas.

I definitely agree with you on Elias Harris, he has the possibility to become one of the hotter prospects in college after the Duke game on saturday, that is if he can prove his toughness down low on one of the better teams in the country.

I noticed Robert Sacre, too, he is really good. I consider him even better than Greg Monroe – because of Monroes shyness about a physical play – avoiding contact in such a manner will make him more of a high post powerforward than PF/C. Charlie Villanueva has shown that you actually can be effective even with that style of play, but then again – his speed for his size is amazing, and he doeas have a consistent outside shot. So it may be, that Monroe will stay as a prospect forever playing continuously the same manner.
Sacre´s problems right now seem to be 1) lack of agility and slow feet, I guess. Right now his contribution on boards is inadequate, same problem is in defensive presence. 2) Lack of aggressiveness. His field goal percentiges are way too low, although he does´nt take many shots. Lack of aggressiveness is noticable on board-statistics as well.

Nevertheless he is a bigtime prospect, because both issues can be fixed. Bigmen are growing slower and Sacre is a sophomore. So he has 2.5 years to develop the physics and gaine experience and confidence, to become a dominant beast.

We don´t have to be prophet´s to see Jimmer Fredette flying to the actual Mock Draft right away after his last night performance against experienced Arizona Wildcats – 49 points,7 boards, 9 assists and 2 steals. It´s amazing. He did Jodie Meeks last night, and Meeks, as we know, is getting minutes in NBA right now. But Brigham Young is going 13 – 1. Something, that kentucky did´nt manage last year. And Fredette is giving 5.4 assists per game, being relatively solid on boards as well and producing 2 steal per game. His size – 6-2 is ok for a point guard. As the matter of fact he has been overlooked somehow, which now hopefully changes. Since today he has shown more than consistent contribution both in scoring and assisting. And his team wins. He goes in the first round, probably between 12 – 25. Way to go!

6-10 Center from Fresno State, freshman. Pretty solid and consistent guy, who develops real fast. Would´nt surprise to see him on the draft-list within next 1-2 month.

2guard 6-5 junior from Seton Hall. Had 2 points and 1 rebound at the first game of the season. Then something happened, and dude has been occasionally unstoppable, I mean, literally. Check his points through games: 26, 33 …21, 33…41
I watch Syracuse vs Seton hall game right now – SH leading by 6 a minute before halftime, and Hazell already have 20 points. (Herb Pope has grabbed 11 boards already). This guy has it.

Michael Dunigan. 6-10 / 255 sophomore C from oregon has performed well. He has been more aggressive on boards, still shows inconsistency at defensive end – one day 5 blocks, another day zero. Below average passer from post at this point – he has 1 (!) assist so far from this season 🙂 14 games and 1 assist, it shows something that needs to be changed.

Jordan Hamilton from Texas 6-7 freshman small forward, should actually be already on every mock-lists.

My bad, Jordan Hamilton already is on Mock list.

Kenneth Faried, 6-8 junior C Morehead State.
I´ve had my eye on Kenneth Faried a long time, but have not mentioned him as he is quite undersized for his position. But he keeps dominate the boards, he takes those everywhere and against everyone. A plane flyes over and Kenneth Faried takes an offensive board somewhere. A wave reaches the beach, and Kenneth Faried takes the ball from defensive glass somewhere. It´s depressing. if man gets all the boards, what differnce does it make if he´s a 6-8. He belongs to my list.
We have´nt seen him much against top Centers though, so it may be the truth is still out there. Against Kentucky he overboarded DeMarcus Cousins, as Cousins had 4, and Faried 7, and others cleaned most of it. Maybe against the best defenders in the NCAA as Cole Aldrich, Ed Davis, Artjom Parakhouski and others he would struggle.

They both appear on this weeks actual Mock List, so they are gone and we are happy.

Right now I look Kansas playing Cornell, and Cornell´s C Jeff Foote has played incredible first half – he already has 8 points (3-3 / 2-4) , 3 rebounds and 1 bl vs Cole Aldrich 8 points (2-3 / 4-4) , 1 rebound. If he keeps himself on that level even part of the game as it continues – he should make to the list right next week. Facing an NCAA top prospect C is an indicator – and Foote is showing that he can play the ball against the best.
Aldrich is junior vs Foote being senior, but this difference is not so big. Foote is listed as 7-0, and Aldrich as 6-11, so even if Foote is not legit 7footer, he should be taller than Aldrich. Good size, solid games against top team of NCAA – what else do you expect.

It’s great to find out such a nice listing of young promising players. But I think you missed some names. I don’t know from which point of view you made this list. But it is containing some of my favorite players’ names. I’m a big fan of football too. Last year I bought Chelsea Tickets and watched my favorite team playing on the field.

My list was made 1.5 years ago 🙂

    Let´s lookat the history now:

Hassan Whiteside – went to the NBA, although dropped from lottery to second round.

Gordon Hayward tookhis Butler-team to the finals and ended up a lottery pick and plays at Utah Jazz. And I project him to be one of Jazz´s cornerstones after next season. He is a special kid. he finds his ways due to his high basketball-IQ and strong will. He is going to be a star.

Jimmer Fredette – is going in the lottery this year

    Kenneth Faried – locked first-rounder

Michael Dunigan – I mentioned him… coincidentally he ended up playing in my country and at my home-town team – Estonia, BC Kalev. Have to say – He is a beast. he´s a legit 6.10, with a huge wingspan. Pretty athletic – has a good second jump. He´s good defender, a little foul-prone at this stage. He is solid rebounder, but could be even better – he has huge hands and wide shoulders – could add 10 pounds without hurting his agility and end up 260 pounds. Does not possess a consistent mid-range jumpshot (yet), but has a nice stroke though. A little mechanical in his movement. Should be more aggressive at low-post position, manhandeling his defender and being more of an intimidator. He made a consistent season though and i guess, He gonna get plenty of invitations. In my opinion – he´s better than Vernon Macklin, Nikola Vucevic, Greg Smith right now. He could end up in the end of the second round. But if not – we are happy to have him back. Right no his defence is ahead of his offence.

    Kris Joseph – projected first-rounder at 2012.

Elias Harris is no projected in every mock-drafts. He has tested even first-round predictions, but poor last season have dropped him into the second round.

    Jeffery Taylor – same thing

Greg Smith is projected as a possible second-rounder this year

Tyler Zeller and Augustus Gilchrist are projected as strong second-rounders, whenever they´ll come out.

Matt Bouldin ended up in D-league. He may not end have a NBA-chance.

Tony Woods got into trouble, and may have done with his career.

Robert Sacre has not shown development, last season as a disappointment.

Bryan Zoubek missed the draft very closely. I still think – he can make it to the NBA one day.

Marshan Powell continues playing in NCAA with this years highly touted Arkansas recruiting class. He has not made a significant development, but we´ll see, what 2011-2012 season brings.

Kenny Boynton could end up in 2012 draft, he is the Gators best player right now.

Dante Taylor still has´nt moced from prospect to a player.

Scoop Jardine and Chris Johnson will most likely end up innext years draft.

So – we did good 🙂 It has been interesting with you, fellow-commentators. 🙂
