mikeyvthedonParticipantAre these in terms of what, college basketball or NBA potential? I guess I will give an assortment of both, but I find these pretty ridiculous. Why not just make a list of top prospects or give us rankings. You know, so we can actual know your ratings as opposed to everyone either being "underrated" (which is apparently one of your favorite words in the English language) or "overrated". Those are such broad terms when one has no idea who you rank behind or in front of the player. Anyway, here are my answers for the 2013 Draft I suppose:
1. Best 1 on 1 scorer: Shabazz Muhammad, UCLA
2. Best Perimeter Defender: Aaron Craft, Ohio State
3. Best Interior Defender: Jeff Withey, Kansas (a monster at the college level, this is what could make him a possible draft pick)
4. Best Rebounder: O.D. Anosike, Siena (He may play in a nowhere conference, but I think that rebounding tends to translate most places. Plus, Cody Zeller has to get a HELL of a lot better at rebounding before I consider him better than all of the returning players who had much greater impacts on the boards. Andre Drummond averaged 1.8 more rebounds per 40 minutes than Zeller last year. Cody is good in many areas, his rebounding can use improvement)
5. Best Shot Blocker: Nerlens Noel, Kentucky (He is a great shot blocker. Can use work in other areas, but he will block a lot of shots. Maybe not what Davis did in total, but on a per minute basis, should be close)
6. Best Passer: Flip Pressey, Missouri
7. Best 3 point shooter: Isaiah Canaan, Murray State (Watch for Rotnei Clarke who just transferred to Butler to make a ton of three’s this season as well. I know Heslip had 9 in that tourney game and a very good shooter, just also know his volume may not be as great as a Canaan or Clarke)
8. Best Free Throw Shooter: Scott Wood, NC State (He actually gets fouled from time to time, definitely makes him a more valuable foul shooter than Heslip as he is around the same percentage)
9. Best Ball Handler: Ryan Harrow, Kentucky (If there was one thing that made Ryan Harrow possibly better than Lorenzo Brown, it was his handle. Incredibly quick, this might be why he is ranked ahead of him currently)
10. Best Dunker: CJ Leslie (One way for him to stand out, as he should get a lot of chances to throw down this year)
11. Best Athlete: Pierre Jackson, Baylor (In combine type athleticism, he will probably stand out quite a bit)
12. Biggest Wingspan: Rudy Gobert (With a reported 7’9 wingspan at Eurocamp, think he would take this category. Have to say, if Nerlens or Mitchell’s were the longest, I would be very surprised)
13. Best Potential: Shabazz Muhammad (Just think he translates into being the flat out best player in this draft class)
14. Who will be the Tallest and Shortest players taken???: Who knows? Alex Len, Maryland and Pierre Jackson more than likely. Honestly, not positive about either Len or Alec Brown entering this year.
15. Best International Player: Dario Saric (Guess I have seen him more and I kind of know more of what he is about. Gobert seems to be upside. There are questions with Saric, but he has legit 3/4 size, just needs to add strength. Definite feel for the game. If he were in this years HS Class, would have been a top 10 prospect. That is not to say he would be a top 10 pick, just feel like as of right now, he looks better than just about all of the freshmen entering college minus a select few)
16. Most Underrated/underhyped: Jarnell Stokes, Tennessee (Who I believe could be a likely candidate for this years draft as opposed to 2014)
17. Most Overrated/overhyped: Rakeem Christmas, Syracuse (He is just so damn raw offensively, really not a fan of his court awareness. Who knows, could have a nice turnaround a la Fab Melo, but my guess is he takes another year at least)
18. Who’s Stock rises highest in The Draft: DeShaun Thomas, Ohio State (Yes, he is a bit of a chucker. He may even be in between positions. Still, he is a high volume scorer and should have a huge year. Look for him to be a very likely first round pick in 2013 if he can prove to be a scoring 3)
19. Who Stock falls furthest in The Draft: DeWayne Dedmon, USC (Just have a feeling this guy might not be what he is cracked up to be. His stock already fell after his first year at USC, he has durability concerns and he is at least a year older than most college seniors. He could prove me wrong, but I have not seen much from him so far)
20. Biggest Boom or Bust Prospect: LeBryan Nash, Oklahoma St. (The guy has grown man strength but I think kind of moved away from his game at times. With a little more help around him this season, he could have a breakout year and show why he was seen as a very possible one-and-done coming out of HS. He had the good sense to come back, if he worked hard this summer, could have a very solid sophomore season)

Wahoo757ParticipantGood list. The only one I strongly disagree with is Zeller being the best rebounder.

i don’t. PFFT, what is so ridiculous? maybe 1 or 2 (and not even)… you make it seem like its a horrible list
"Why not just make a list of top prospects or give us rankings."
i have, and when i can make a mock ill be the first one to have one
"You know, so we can actual know your ratings as opposed to everyone either being "underrated" (which is apparently one of your favorite words in the English language) or "overrated"."

mikeyvthedonParticipantThe whole "Who is the best" SLAM type "Rookie Most Likely to" type things. Not your list, though I think you probably could have taken more time to spell players names correctly and do research before calling Cody Zeller the best rebounder. As far as you making a list, just make a list, I do not really care about seeing your Mock Draft. Why not make one "pre-season" as you say with this one that we all can see and you can take accountability for? You make a lot of bold claims and always seem to exclaim when you are right, just never really hear you say when you might not have been.
As far as you saying when you think a prospect is "underrated", we know you "let it be known". But what is this rating based upon? This site? Another site? General consensus? I just think it is a rather broad term and I would rather you say what players you feel are indeed being rated ahead of said players that should not be. Yes, you have made it abundantly clear you feel Lorenzo Brown is much better than Ryan Harrow, but more often than not you just say "This guy is underrated", while leaving many with no idea why you feel that player deserves to be rated higher or whom he should be rated above. That is why I think it is broad and that it really does not do much for people hearing about it. You calling a prospect underrated or overrated does not necessarily make people believe it is true when most of the time that is all you really say about them or provide a basis for doing so.

raybeasParticipantJordan Hulls – Indiana

mikeyvthedonParticipantMatt Roth, lol. Sorry man, just had to say it. You realize Roth was second in the nation at 3PT % last season at 55.4% (1 3PT made per game minimum)? Hulls obviously made and took more, plus shot an awesome %, just thought that Matt Roth thing was shady. Especially for a kid who has been with you from the start and just blazes triples, seems like the whole thing could have been handled better by Crean.

raybeasParticipantRoth was on campus four years and got his degree, but Crean really left him hanging this summer. Crean over-signed for this year, and had no choice but to let Roth go. I don’t think you’ll find anyone with anything bad to say about Matt Roth. He just got put into a tough situation. If Maurice Creek wrecks another body part before the season starts, Crean may reach out to him again, but I’m not sure Roth would respond positively.
