I live in Portland. The Blazers staff reasoning behind going after Turk was to add someone to the team that could create their own shot and shot oppurtunities for others. Roy was showing signs of fatigue in the playoffs last year because he constantly had to have the ball in his hands to give the offense any type of fluidity. I didn’t know about Marion, but that would’ve been stupid. David Lee was supposed to come in and supply the toughness and rebounding off the bench that the Blazers obviously lacked in their series against the Rockets last year.

The Blazers are really confusing me this year. Why McMillan thinks Steve Blake deserves to be starting continues to trouble me. Roy is way to undersized to play the SF position in my opinion. And it still cracks me up when the Blazers say they made the right pick with Oden over Durant. In my opinion Durant would only help out Roy because he is such a damn good scorer. In my opinion Roy is not a franchise player. I love him and thinks he’s awesome but he would be a great second tier player. That is not meant to slight him in anyway as he really is a top 3 shooting guard in the NBA, but Durant has the potential to be the best player in the league (yeah i really do believe it, he is sick).

Before the season started, I didn’t think Blake should start either, BUT… Since then I’ve changed my mind. He’s not a better player than Miller, but he’s a better fit for the team than Miller. Blake handles the ball and passes well, plus he stretches the floor. He can really shoot the ball. Miller on the other hand, can’t shoot a lick and that doesn’t create as many driving lanes for Roy.

Lol if you think Roy is a “second tier” player, then you need to stay up a little later and catch more Portland games. Roy is a first tier player and number one option hands down. He can still improve on defense, but other than that… He has a complete overall game.

I think Durant is a superstar in the making, but I don’t understand how you think he can be the best player in the league… What does he do other than score? He only has an impact on one end of the floor. He has a chance to be the best scorer in the league, but the best player in the league? He doesn’t impact the game other than scoring. He doesn’t play D or create for his teammates… He’s not a very good passer at all as a matter of fact.

i dont think durant is the best player int he leauge but other then score he gets about 8reb 3 ast 1blk and a steal a game while leading his team to wins and getting them to be better every year all as a sf..i mean across the board other then scoring his numbers are better then melos

Exactly… That’s the same reason I don’t think Melo could ever be the best player in the league either. I think Durant and Melo are similar, in regards to what they bring to the court. I think Durant can and will be better than Melo. I just can’t see Durant being better than a LeBron, Dwayne Wade, Chris Paul, etc.

And to go even further… I’m so impressed with Bynum right now that IF he can continue to improve… I’d take him over Durant going forward. Bynum has the potential to dominate the game at both ends, while Durant will only dominate a game offensively. Bynum has the potential to be a number one option… 25, 12 rebound and 3 block per game player.

what else is small foward suppossed to do besides score rebound lead his team to wins over good teams get steal and a couple blks?..hes actually the best rebounding sf in the nba…hes doing everything a top sf does

thank you a sf isnt suppose to get tons of assists. durant isnt a point foward he is a true small foward that can even play the 2 guard on occasion. he rebounds just as good as lebron does and portland could use him because besides being a true scorer he’s also a GREAT shooter. They should have never signed miller last year! The other great thing about Durant is he doesnt need the ball in his hands to be effective

That would have worked for both teams and oden would have more chances to dominate the game

and that’s why I said “Durant has the POTENTIAL to be the best player in the league”. He isn’t right now, but once Kobe retires he will be challenging LeBron for the best player in the league title. Saying B-Roy is a second-tier player is not a slight at all. Pippen, Gasol, Worthy, Ginobli, McHale, etc… all of those guys were second-tier players and they either are or will eb in the hall of fame. All I’m saying is that yes u can build a team around Roy but u wont win a title that way. On the other hand, u can build a team around Durant and win a title imo. Roy would’ve been a GREAT sidekick to Durant

I think Martell Webster has the position in a chokehold, he’s had it since training camp when everyone was healthy, and he’s definitely the controlling player at the spot with his main minutes sharers (Batum and Outlaw) out with bad, and long-lasting injuries. And he’s been outplaying everyone else at SF anyway.

I think they could’ve used a David Lee type player now, Aldridge is kinda soft and not really a low post player. They could’ve used a rebounder and low-post scorer, and I think Lee is better served as a change-of-pace, bench player anyways…especially when you have a talented scorer like Aldridge in rotation.

I don’t think they needed Turk now. Webster has been emerging and now with Miller, they have someone to run the offense through in other parts of the game to rest Roy somewhat, and let Roy do what he does so well in the 4th. I’m still holding out hope Miller can be a good fit for the Trail-Blazers, if no other time, than in the playoffs…

Oden was the correct pick for this Blazers team. Durant is a great scorer, but the Blazers staff is already sold on Roy and Aldridge being the franchise cornerstones. I don’t think Roy and Durant would work well together because neither will pass the ball. Roy needs to have the ball in his hands in order for him to be most effective, so does Durant. Roy and Aldridge’s defense are both questionable. That inside presence that Oden provides is rare. He’s currently second in the NBA in blocks. The Blazers are ranked either one or two in most defensive categories. Thanks in much part to Oden(21). You don’t win championships by throwing a team together with a bunch of scorers. Those run and gun type of teams don’t pan out too well come playoff time. Batum has shown potential and fits perfectly with the system. Give this young team time to develop. They could be dangerous.
