gary.getsomedomeParticipantOk so portland, crazy offseason, no hedo or millsap to show for it, but this team has so many options and possibilities they could manage with this roster, it’s very difficult to determine what might be their best move(s) via trade or remaining FA’s. what do you guys think would help put them completely in title contention from here on out?

llperezpackage some of their young talent into a trade that could land a solid starting sf. Right now Outlaw, Webster, Fernadez, and Batum are just stealing minutes from each other. Also, the development of Oden is key to what they can do. If Oden becomes an all-star caliber big, then they are in real good shape to contend for the title.

MagikKnickParticipantthey need a point guard to run the show, imo
Blake is great…for a backup, not starter quality if u ask me
Bayless is still developing
They need to send an offer to Sessions/Miller
both PGs will help them alot, especially Sessions
he’ll fit right in with that young core of guys0 - Posted on: Fri, 07/17/2009 - 8:04pm #183815

gary.getsomedomeParticipantdefinently agree, 2 biggest holes are the point and SF. blake cost portland that houston series with his bad decsion making at the end of games, still could be a spark plug off the bench though. i think sessions or ray felton would work, bayless needs some minutes regardless, just to see if he’s worth keeping around. I think webster (especially) and outlaw need to be dealt before either batum or rudy would be. i think batum will eventually be fully capable of starting and could be special, but i think they need a bonafide starter at SF for like 2 to 3 years at the most

MattissickParticipantI think they should figure out that Boozer/Hinrich 3 team trade then trade their small forwards for a quality one
Hinrich/Blake/Bayless
Roy/Bayless
?/Roy
Aldridge
Oden/Pryz0 - Posted on: Sat, 07/18/2009 - 12:14am #183830

Meditated StatesParticipantFelton would be a perfect fit for that team long term. They should go after him strong. I think he is a slept on player. His shooting percentage is down to me because that team has no inside scoring to get him open looks, nor a 20 plus scorer who gets doubled on the wing. If Felton plays with better players I see his shooting percentage going up. They should get Felton. I like Sessions, but I am not as sold as everybody on him being a starting point guard who will take you deep. He is a point to me, just one to take you deep? I just don’t see it.

doubledribblerParticipantI agree with Scout. No one really ever talks about Felton, but he’s been hidden in Charlotte and always seemed to be an afterthought because he was drafted in the same class as Deron Williams and Chris Paul. The guy would be a great addition for any team and can probably be had for cheap.

STEVEDOT2Participantandre miller is the best point still in free agency ….they got there core they need a player who can put them over the top a leader and thats miller most ppl dont eatch sixers games but im in philly so i do… at first look i todl my self who is dis big slow point we got…but time passed an he play differnt speeds, hes very wise, and uses his body to his avanatge.
ps he showed this year he can knock down the 3 at a good rate if set up the blazers have a nice passing 2 gaurd in roy so this a be a great fit

JNixonParticipantI always say they should trade Bayless for Felton

Knicksboy34ParticipantThey should
Offer the MLE to Sessions
Sign Lamar Odom

IndianaBasketballParticipantWhy do anything? This team won 54 games last season. Why rush to fix something if it isn’t broke? All they need to do is keep this team together and let them grow. Remember… Portland wasn’t even supposed to compete for a playoff spot last season, but ended up with the 4th seed. Many people expected them to compete next season. Just be patient. The fans love this team… The sellout every home game. What they need to do is get Brandon Roy and Lamarcus Aldridge signed to extensions. That should be #1 and #2 priority.

Knicksboy34Participantyea, they pissed roy off. Aldridge may get his money
This team does not have what it needs to win now. Add a Lamar Odom and a expirenced PG to lead that team

auberParticipantAndre Miller would be perfect in Portland. I disagree with the notion that you need to upgrade at sf. Travis Outlaw can play in this league and put up some pretty nice numbers across the board. Don’t sleep on him.

SDEParticipantIf Hinrich dnt have the heart to play in the east then he will get killed in the west ,Bayless is ready keep blake let them share time, got to package those SF for next year draft, Just dnt see Odom there but need him.
Bayless/Blake/Pat Mills
Roy/Webster
Batum/Cunningham/Odom?
Aldridge//Pendergraph/Odom?
Oden/Pryz
2010 Draft pick for Rudy&Outlaw0 - Posted on: Sat, 07/18/2009 - 10:42am #183928
maravich44ParticipantAnyone who would say Hinrich doesn’t have heart is wrong. Where would anyone get that idea. He’s a gamer. a tough defender who isn’t afraid to take the key shot. I’m not saying he’s a great talent, but lack of heart is not a problem with Hinrich.
0 - Posted on: Sat, 07/18/2009 - 10:53am #183933

JNixonParticipantYea Hinrich seems like a competitive guy, he just isnt physically gifted. He is a decent talent, but I think he is a backup PG. They have a backup level starter in Blake, so they would just be adding on to the mediocrity IMO.

llperezHe will never be a top 15 pg, but he is a very solid starter. Questioning his toughness is silly. Lot’s of guys would be moved to the bench if they had to play next to DRose.
0 - Posted on: Sat, 07/18/2009 - 12:22pm #183966

romeeezybabyParticipantI don’t think they need to deal any of their young talent for a point guard just yet. Brandon Roy is the main catalyst and has the ball in his hands on almost every possession.
I like Bayless’ upside and I think he will turn out to be a legitimate starter in the league, he just needs to make better decisions with the ball, but that should come with more experience.
