tblazer_NZParticipantIn the off season Portland whiffed on big name centers and now after being a decent rebounding team last season has dropped at the way to last in the league. They are 1.6 rebounds worse than the next worst team Dallas.
With very little change in personal from last season why have they dropped from 10th to 30th?
How can they change their rebounding woes? Do they need to make a trade? Who could they make a trade for realistically?

HitsterParticipantTyson Chandler has nearly 3 years left on a very favourable deal and Andrew Bogut will be expiring next summer. Phoenix have 3 young bigs and might accept a deal for Chandler and him being on a team in rebuild at this stage of his career can be seen as not being ideal.
Phoenix would probably be prepared to accept a young asset or a pick for Chandler.
If Dallas do decide they are in rebuild then cashing in on Bogut might be an option, Portland could extend him if needed beyond this season if needed be and Dallas might accept a pick or a young asset back.

tblazer_NZParticipantI’d give up a few assets for Bogut as he has a great skill set.

D7H7NParticipantWould you be willing to give up a future first round draft pick? What about Meyers Leonard’s awful contract and a first rounder for Bogut? Dallas is going into rebuild mode and I don’t think Bogut likes where he is right now. I think it would be dumb for any team to trade a first rounder to rent Bogut for the rest of the season which is why I included Leonard.

vulture711ParticipantThat should be calling about Noel – however, I wouldn’t want Alan Crabbe who has been lousy this year and has a newly inked, bad contract for that level of production

ChewyParticipantlast year. He was agressive, but under control and din’t force shots (which is important when you have Lillard and McCollum). He played well off them. What’s changed? I haven’t seen Porland yet this year.

vulture711Participantbut his 9 ppg 2.7 rbg and 1.7 apg aren’t worth $18 Million a year !!! I can get that production from Stauskas at a fraction of the cost

The Scare Crow RisesParticipantI’d still be open to trading Noel for Crabbe whenever Noel is available to trade
Crabbe has shot the ball poorly because he’s just basically taking whatever shots Lillard and McCollum don’t take, everything is ISO Ball and 3 pointers, AC actually has a decent mid range game but without a low post option Teams can just extend their defense to the top of the Key and camp on the Blazers taking 3 after 3…
When they’re hot they’re one of the most explosive teams in the entire NBA, when they miss a ton of attempts they’ll be murdered on the glass because Vonleh/Davis and even Plumlee are rather soft in the paint, Plumlee provides offensive versatility But he’s not a great defender or aggressive reboundrr…
I would actually target guys like Gortat, Faried and Tyson Chandler, because they have been known to mix it up inside and give you some extra possessions each game…

EndlessknightParticipantI wonder if the blazers, 6ers and magic could get a three way deal going that would land Noel in Portland and Hezonja in Philly. Not sure what the magic want/need.

dmo21ParticipantJust browsing through teams, there seems to be a few rebounding big men that could be available for the Blazers. They could go expensive or cheap as they have a lot of tradeable assets.
Here’s a few names that popped into my head:
B.Lopez
L.Allen
Monroe
One of the Orlando bigs (Vucevic/Biyombo/Ibaka)
Noel
Gortat
Bogut
Faried
Asik
Chandler
WCS

binetParticipantI don’t think each of these big are available on the cheap but I would love Faried to come to Portland. He was very very good with the National team 2 years ago during the world championship, and I think he would complement well the stretch 5 game of Leonard and this team defense. I don’t know the asking price of Denver though…
Gortat should be available on contract absorption only once Washington decides to definitely tank later this year also.

dmo21ParticipantWell I said expensive or cheap. I feel like Faried is more in the middle of that. Denver is more of a rebuild team that has a few older guys that they could part with. They’d probably want wing help if anything, so maybe someone like Crabbe/Aminu/Harkless?
For Washington (and going off a different poster’s trade idea), maybe a 3 way deal with Gortat to Portland, Beal to Philly, and Noel to Washington?

SmooveKRYPTParticipantAny word on when he’ll be healthy enough to play? He can give some good minutes off the bench and is very active on the glass.

MatosParticipantThey need to revamp their front court. To me, all of their players are expendible aside from Dame & CJ. Crabbe would be a nice piece but his contract isn’t good. They need to get better defensively at the guard spot and they need crashers. They just shot themselves in the foot with the Crabbe and Turner signings.

HitsterParticipantPortland have a lot of committed salary over the next few years and the majority of those players are on longish deals, they don’t have any expiring deals of note and would need to move a player on a decent salary otherwise their salary level will go through the roof. Also teams would be reluctant to take on hefty long term deals of the sort of player Portland might want to deal.

The Scare Crow RisesParticipantCJ and a couple of their expendable Bigs could probably fetch a Big Name low post player (Cousins???) and they need one badly, a guard like Lillard needs a great Big man to really push past that Championship threshold (guys like Iverson couldn’t get one because their team never give him a great bigman)
If I were the Gm I’d try to trade for Cousins or Okafor plus a load of picks from Philadelphia for CJ and spare parts…I either have Dame and DMC, or Dame/Okafor plus a couple lottery picks via LA in 17′ and Philadelphia in 18′ and 20′
CJ would be perfect for a Sacramento rebuild or in Philadelphia as the scoring G in a lineup with Simmons, Saric and Embiid, any of the PG prospects in the 2016 draft makes them a scary young team going forward IMO

HitsterParticipantMyers Leonard is on around $10/11 million over the next 3 plus seasons so isn’t on a huge contract for a 24 year old big with a nice skillset. However for someone he is over 7ft tall, he isn’t a great rebounder and is more a finesse big. If Portland could do something with his deal and a future first rounder, I’d think they could find a decent defensive big.
Maybe the money they spent on Turner or Crabbe would have been better spent on say Biyombo or even Roy Hibbert who is on a cheaper deal.

D7H7NParticipantPortland needs to free up cap space to pay CJ’s contract next season anyways. Just look at their payroll.

HitsterParticipantWith Washington doing badly, might they listen to offers for Gortat I wonder?
Leonard for Gortat matches up nicely salarywise and Washington get a younger player, if Portland threw a pick in then I think they could definitely bite.
