It amazes me that the media just accepts and plays along with how rude Greg Popovich is. I understand that he is one of the greatest coaches ever of the NBA. But come on man these people are just trying to do their job (the media) and he gets away with being a grade A ass hole.

    Could Greg Popovich have Aspergers?

Have you ever heard some of the intelligible questions some of these coaches get? It is astounding that some of these individuals are journalists.

Also, Greg Popovich is attempting to do his job, as a coach. He has continually given negative opinions of forced media engagements. This is one of the ways he shows his displeasure. I would not want to give a full scale interview after the shellacking last night, especially if some idiot with a pen, paper, and a microphone questioned my in game coaching.

     Food for thought.

Every other coach in the NBA act accordingly with out being rude or smug. Why does he get a pass? Last time I checked part of his job is dealing with the media.

I’m not giving him carte blanche to act that way – I personally think it would get tiresome.

My only point is I know some individuals who like the way Pop treats the media. It is his choice how to address them – I should have made this more clear in my first point, but I would never act like that. I disagree with treating people as second class citizen – my point is I think both sides could make the exercise more enjoyable.

Agree 100%. It’s like he concentrates so hard now on being a douche he’s forgotten what it’s like to be normal!

Part of me loves Pop because he’s an amazing coach and his responses to the journalists is always hilarious.

The journalist in me though hates Pop because you have no idea what to ask him.

Like what can a journalist ask that isn’t a stupid question? I’d love to see what people think these guys should ask him. Yes, there are some idiot journalists who lead off "questions" with the "talk about…" which deserves to be ridiculed but I’d hate being a journalist trying to interview him after a game.

+1 for floating the rumour that Popovich is on the spectrum. It would be interesting if this idea stuck in the media and Sage Steele had to credit SeattleSuperChronics as a source. (Not that ESPN gives two f’s about quoting sources).

All kidding aside, I don’t think he has Asperbegers. I’ve heard anecdotes from civilians about meeting Popvich at a bar with him being an awesome companion outside of the basketball arena. Craig Kilborn, who was quite irriating, was on the last Bill Simmons podcast and told a story as such.

I think he acts like that for image reasons…. also, because he’s genuinely annoyed by the questions. I love sports and read sports reporting, that said, most post-game questions are beyond stupid.
