Arc12345ParticipantTo be honest, I really wonder if this whole process is going to work. They’ve created such a culture of losing that I feel like it’s going to be sort of difficult to undo, regardless of who they draft. If I was Simmons or Ingram, I’d be pissed. I sure as hell wouldn’t want to play for philly.
So they’ll have a bunch of young studs? Great. I guarantee you that most will try to leave whenever given the chance and play for a real organization. I also really doubt they pick up any significant free agents. But we’ll see.
Am I totally off on this? I just don’t see this paying off 5-10 years from now. They were so blatant about being terrible and didn’t care, you have to just root against them. It’s been said before, but what if the entire league did that? It would be awful.

sheltwon3ParticipantClippers used to have a culture of winning and now look at them. I think once you have legit talent and a good coach you can start winning especially in the East. The 3rd pick, a healthy Embid plus whomever they keep or get in a trade should have them at 25 to 30 wins easy.

chall23ParticipantHonestly, and I’m not trying to be a dick here I think you are completely off. The Sixers have really dedicated fan base (I’m from the Philly area). When a team is doing well in Philly there’s not many places better to play in. Also, people forget Philly is the 3rd or 4th biggest market in the USA. So there’s plenty of opportunities to make money in endorsements. So my point is a young player in a big market with a young core, should be pretty excited about the opportunity the Sixers have in the upcoming future.

dazeoneParticipantThat’s the whole purpose of the lottery. The Sixers have good pieces they just have to put it together. If they keep Ish Smith for a year or trade one of the bigs or get a PG and shooting guard in free agency and learn how to play together its all over for the league. The Lakers and Celtics have a culture of winning but the Sixers future is brighter than both because of the pieces they have. the Celtics have Isiah Thomas and a team full of Journeymen with the at 3 pick. The Lakers are starting from scratch as well. Gonna be interesting in 5 years plus the Sixers will not make the playoffs next year and have the option of switching picks with the Kings next year and they get the Kings picks in 2018. At best the kings will get an 8th seed in the West before or after Cousins self destruct or they blow it up because of him. The future is great for the Sixers. Starting off already bad for the kings because Rondo wants more money and on that team he will get his stats but it doesn’t translate to wins

The Scare Crow RisesParticipant1st off none of these kids have a say in where they start their career off, so the 76ers own whoever they draft rights for the first 8 years of their career (thank Shaq and the Lakers for this rule change)
Any chatter about Simmons wanting to play in LA don’t mean Jack because he’s stuck playing where ever he’s draft…
Suck it up and accept facts, every Young player wanted to play for another franchise before he was drafted, Simmons having a preferred destination isn’t anything new, He’ll get over it when he eats his first Cheese Steak and Soft pretzel
Guys fall in love with our city once they come here, every single player traded for or drafted to a Philadelphia franchise knows we have some of the absolutely best fans in the world, we just have a large majority of loud and embarrassing ones that give us a good name
I don’t agree with the notion that top prospects wouldn’t want to play for the Team that has a STACKED front court and the potential to Draft an All Star or 2 in the next few drafts, these hy uys want to win and know it takes time to get there…The Wolves have been bad for a decade and I never heard One word about KAT or Wiggins not wanting to play there…
Philadelphia was historically bad for 3 years and are NOW about to turn it around once we add a SF and some other pieces finally fall into place…
If Simmons doesn’t want to play with 2 Monster Centers in Okafor and Embiid, 2 versatile Power Forwards in Noel and Saric, and the glut of Shooters they could add via Draft and Free Agency oh well, screw him I like Ingram more anyway…
Trusting the process right now, Simmons, Saric and Embiid in Year 1 of the Turn Around…
A Top PG via 2017 Draft is Happening, a Young SG via 2016 Draft is possible, if not Free Agent Evan Fournier looks like a solid shooter to add in July…
We will be in the Hunt again my friend, just you mark my words…

Willfb3ParticipantI also think you’re way off here. Philly is a sports city. The teams might suck right now, but the fans haven’t gone anywhere, they’re just waiting for something to get excited about. Last time the Sixers had the top pick they took AI, and he ended up winning MVP and turning an awful team into a finals contender. The current Sixers have assests already who could become stars, unlike the Sixers AI joined. Simmons should be greatful for this chance to play in Philly before the process has shown results because now he will get more credit for when they start winning. Furthermore, I think free agents would be nuts to not want to join a big market team with Simmons, Noel, Embiid, and Okafor on their roster, to a talented gaurd in his early-mid 20’s how does that not scream "We could compete for a decade!?" I’m a biased fan, but I’m getting excited.

holefillers1ParticipantSimmons will play here and he will be happy about it. Brett Brown has known Ben Simmons His whole life having coached his father. They also have the new practice facility opening this year.(the biggest and best in the league) I remember when the Eagles built the NovaCare Complex it was a highlight for all incoming free agents and draftees.

he_gets_bucketsParticipant"What if the entire league did that" is a stupid argument- of course it would suck and it would never ever happen, because people only intentionally suck when other teams are that much better than them that they need to suck in order to get draft picks. Philly wouldn’t be doing this if every other team was equally as bad as them, heck, no team would be doing this if every other team were doing this, its a paradox, you only tank when you aren’t good enough to win through free agency and your current roster.

publius2481ParticipantI think management has taken steps to fix it. They have brought in a couple of veterans who know how to win to help the young guys grow. Now this offseason I think they will struggle to attract top free agents, but if they start winning, that problem goes away. Next offseason is when I think they should try to make a splash in free agency anyway. By then, they will have a good idea who they want to keep long term and know what holes they need to fill in the roster.

Sewok15ParticipantWhat is Saric going to do with Saric? He needs to come over and prove he can play in the NBA. Although financially it makes sense for him to wait another year.
Saric and Simmons can coexist but Noel, Okafor and a healthy Embiid cannot…unless you want teams packing the paint on you like it is 1955.

CavFanPRParticipantPhilly will draft Simmons and trade Noel for a point guard. They’ll have a very good lineup for next season, especially if Saric comes over. Stauskas still has potential as well.
