Hatu SetuParticipantI did this last year and thought I might try it again this year. In looking at a lot of the player comparisons I see there are a lot of opinions that almost contrast with each other. But what I did this year is take the common comparisons I’ve seen and looked those players up on Basketball Reference, then looked at similar scores to find similar players. So take this list as if we could fast-forward time and see what these prospects careers/roles turned out to be. As with any comparison that’s not fully accurate, these comparisons probably won’t mean that their game is similar, but their role in the league or the career might be similar. Tell me your Lotto picks from this list.
Kenny Smith
Evan Fournier
JaVale McGee (but smarter)
Jose Calderon
Shawn Marion
Gilbert Arenas
Brandon Ingram
Dejounte Murray
Michael Redd
Enes Freedom
Kelly Olynyk
Joe Ingles
Josh Richardson
Tony Allen (with an average 3pt shot)
Cameron Payne
David Wesley
Kevon Looney
Jalen Smith
Doc Rivers
Markieff Morris
Dorian Finney-Smith
Tayshaun Prince

Hatu SetuParticipant1 Dal – S. Marion. I wanted to take Arenas to take up all the scoring, but Nico apparently values defense over Star power.
2 S.A. – Michael Redd. They need 3pt shooting.
3 Phil – B. Ingram
4 Char – S. Ibaka finally a decent center.
5 UT – Kenny Smith. A floor general thats efficient offensively.
6 Wash – G. Arenas. the scorer they need.
7 NOP – E. Fournier. opens the floor for Zion.
8 Brk – Tay Prince.
9 Tor – JaValee McGee. as long as he’s smarter than the original it’s a good pick.
10 Phx – Memo Okur. they need a big and he has a bonus 3pt shot.
11 – Port – M. Morris. versatile defender that they like.
12 Chi – E. Freedom. they want to replace Vucevic. Will rebound everything.
13 Atl – Jose Calderon. I think he’ll be the guard they’ve wanted to have next to Tre Young.
14 S.A.- Kelly Olynyk. Big man who can run a high-low post game with Wemby.1+ - Posted on: Tue, 06/24/2025 - 1:08am #1269520

OhCanada-ParticipantTo be fair Gilbert Arenas with all his issues was a superstar for a bit. He changed the game. If we are using todays modern ruling and format he would be a monster. When he was playing as a scoring guard for Washington they told him he has to be more like a true poing guard. The tried playing him at SG. They didnt let him flow the same way GSW let Steph go or many guards in todays game. He averaged 29 and 6 in his prime in a different slower era. That would be like averaging 32 and 8 nowadays.
